Hay...

Listening to the wind just starting to pick up here in Suffolk.

Is it bad where you are?

@iem0128 it's not over-egged here, that's for sure.

I'm in Cumbria and the weather is appalling. 50mph winds, pissing rain - there's already loads of roads closed and flooding too.

Iwantacookie · 09/02/2020 09:17

Midlands here, garden chairs have gone over, slide has gone over, fence on one side will hopefully hold now I've pushed my table up against it.
A tree which takes light from my garden in the summer is really being shaken about so I'm hoping that the wind will take a few branches down (safely)

MoveOnTheCards · 09/02/2020 09:22

I’m in SW London and have been listening to howling wind for a few hours. A couple of pretty hefty things have been moved across the garden but I’m more concerned about a massive tree in a neighbour’s garden that has looked precarious for some time now!

Andcake · 09/02/2020 09:23

Windy but not dramatic here in Kent trying to figure out if it will feel safer to drive or go by bus when going for lunch around 1.00. 20 min drive or 45 min bus ... We were even considering cancelling but what I se now doesn't warrant that...will need to decide around 10?

iem0128 · 09/02/2020 09:23

@adaline - so sorry that you are bearing the blunt of the storm. Hope everything is safe and sound with all those exposed to the horror. Where I live, I always miss the tail ends of rains, and I hope this is the same this time! Please heavens: spare all of us!

WaterSheep · 09/02/2020 09:25

It's horrid here, and apparently we've not even seen the worst of it yet. Trees and fences down, roofs damaged and the power keeps dipping in and out.

iem0128 · 09/02/2020 09:25

@Armi Oh, dear! So sorry for you. If my garage roof got blown off, it would cost me an arm and a leg because of the old asbestos.

Raindancer411 · 09/02/2020 09:26

Who remembers the 1987 storm??

Lordfrontpaw · 09/02/2020 09:27

Central London - very blustery and whooshy. Royal parks all closed (I’ve only know the parks to be closed twice before that I can remember and that was after huge storms where there was risk of damaged trees falling in your head).

iem0128 · 09/02/2020 09:28

By the look of it, we will have ANOTHER ROUND of this monstrous storm soon! Jet stream is causing havoc!

NoWordForFluffy · 09/02/2020 09:28

@Dontlickthetrolley, it's pretty damn wild up here on the NW coast right now. We're hunkering down in the house and refusing to even go into the garden!

ElloBrian · 09/02/2020 09:28

My elderly father has just informed me that he intends to drive across the county to a bridge tournament this afternoon 🙄 I am trying to dissuade him.

adaline · 09/02/2020 09:29

@iem0128 thank you!

Luckily I have nowhere to be today!

Unsureconfused46 · 09/02/2020 09:31

Pretty bad here in Coventry, roof tiles coming off, fences down and also the local shop sign. In nearby rural areas a few trees have fallen and are blocking the lanes.

HandsOffMyLangCleg · 09/02/2020 09:31

And my fence is now down in Birningham

VanillaSugarr · 09/02/2020 09:32

@ElloBrian. You need to hide the car keys!! Our roof is making bad noises. I think our tiles are lifting up.

ElloBrian · 09/02/2020 09:36

@VanillaSugarr unfortunately I am in a different part of the country, otherwise I would!

iem0128 · 09/02/2020 09:37

@adaline I'm going NOWHERE today either.

I have just watched the weather report and Geee, my roof might go tomorrow .. Boy, I'm so worried. My purse is empty owing to having bought the 2nd most expensive item in my life!

Tattooedmama · 09/02/2020 09:39

Yep northamptonshire and the fuckwits in my maisonette block are too bloody lazy to bring their bins in, blowing around all over the place.
Only last week we all had letters about not leaving bins out in the street, but some dont care in the slighest Hmm
Im tempted to post on the local Facebook group, its a tiny town so no doubt my post would get eye rolls from them

iem0128 · 09/02/2020 09:42

@ElloBrian : Tell your dad to use conferencing facility!

BettysLeftTentacle · 09/02/2020 09:42

Cambridgeshire here and yes it’s hit big tome. Fences and trees all over the place.

DeltaFlyer · 09/02/2020 09:47

There's a couple of trees down around me in west yorkshire.
The fence has been leaning for months so I hope it will go today to force the landlord to finally do something about it.

Charley50 · 09/02/2020 09:47

Who remembers the 1987 storm??
Me! I got up and went into college in Central London the next day, ignoring the empty streets and trees blocking the road. Got sent home by the caretaker as soon as I arrived. Grin

DecemberSnow · 09/02/2020 09:48

Hope you all managed to sleep abit...

Hope you all stay safe today and noone has to go out

BikeRunSki · 09/02/2020 09:52

@DeltaFlyer, we’re in W Yorks too, lots of trees down. Have postponed trip to family in Hull.
