To ask if your post birth vagina looks very different?

I gave birth 2 years ago and had forceps & an episiotomy. It was very traumatic and nobody examined me afterwards, I didn’t push for anyone to as I didn’t want anyone going near me.

Now I’m due to give birth again and thought I would have a look down there with a mirror, and wow it looks fucking disgusting. Sorry for TMI but while my labia looks the same, everything underneath looks rearranged, swirly and bumpy. It looks like an alien vagina.

Does anyone else look so different afterwards or is this very unusual?

@speakout for me like any part of my body that changes dramatically and quickly, it feels odd, foreign. Almost like it's not my own.

I like knowing my body, it's lump, bumps, individuality of it. It's taken me a very, very long time to even start to come to terms with my post partum body. I hate parts of it - it no longer works properly.

My therapist said it's similar feelings to those who've lost limbs or suffered other trauma, disfigurement etc. It takes time to accept a new you.

It has nothing to do with a man and everything to do with me not feeling like this my body anymore.

Even without childbirth the variation in "normal" appearance varies a great deal.

Yes, I remember a biology teacher showing us a number of photos of genitalia in order to stress that there is no such thing as "normal". I also remember being a bit disturbed when I looked at it when I was 13/14 whilst learning to use a tampon. Never looked again! although this thread might make me 😁

Slat3 · 07/02/2020 19:47

I am dying at these comments 😂
My skin is really strange down there now, it’s not elasticated at all. I was thinking about moisturising to give it a bit more va va voom. I don’t know if it was like that pre-birth. I can also see a tiny little scar but I don’t mind that, it’s the weird non-elastic skin that annoys me...

But I think all genitals are ugly anyway!

SidneyP · 07/02/2020 19:47

Mines the same as I had EMCS. My stomach however, is another matter! Like a deflated balloon

dunnyplop · 07/02/2020 19:48

Surely it changes with age too regardless of childbirth?

SpokeTooSoon · 07/02/2020 19:51

Ah the vulva/vagina brigade are out in force. I bet you add missing apostrophes to chalk board menus in restaurants as well.

picklesdragonisawelshdragon · 07/02/2020 19:53

I reckon my vagina is shorter, my perineum gone, is all just kind of open down there!

winterchills · 07/02/2020 19:53

Yep mine looks exactly as u described 😩

FoamingAtTheUterus · 07/02/2020 19:58

Jingling says the woman who came onto a thread solely to belittle women......are you ok ? Why do you and others feel the need to do that ?

You aren't educating anyone, you either make women feel small which is what you and others set out to do. It was obvious just from the prone of the posts......or they roll their eyes and.think FFS, what a.spoon.

With lighting I can see into my vagina. I may even get the bloody tongs out later.

And if women are referring to their squished hedgehog vulvas as.vaginas what difference exactly is it going to make to your day ?

Shinycat · 07/02/2020 20:00

@JinglingHellsBells

ODFOD. Hmm

GO bug people on another thread, and leave the grown-ups to discuss the subject in hand, and laugh, (and moan) together.

You sound like a thoroughly unpleasant and judgemental individual.

Just bore off.

calmama · 07/02/2020 20:01

Mine looks like an old dog’s mouth with frilly lips and a tongue poking out. Nice.

99problemsandthecatis1 · 07/02/2020 20:01

@JinglingHellsBells you may not be able to see yours, but I can see mine.

If you sit legs spread in front of or above a mirror, hold open you labia, shine a light towards the opening a spread your fingers, can you honestly not see your vagina? Must be fucking tight if an/ or blind if you can't.

dunnyplop · 07/02/2020 20:02

Some of the descriptions on this thread 🤣🤣

Shinycat · 07/02/2020 20:03

@FoamingAtTheUterus

Exactly what YOU said ^ ! I don't know WHY some posters get so uptight and arsey and judgemental when women say vagina (and INSIST they should be saying VULVA!)

What the fuck has it got to do with them what anyone calls their ladybits?

Just naff off. Hmm I will call it whatever I want to call it.

@yadayadayesokay I had pain from my first birth every time we had sex. I had my second baby and haven't had a single bit of pain since. Weird but true. Definitely seek support after your second birth if you need to

Primrose89 · 07/02/2020 20:08

I havent looked, but it feels the same mostly. I think the entrance to my vag is wider and a bit stretched but the actual appearance of my vulva from the front is no different.

3rd degree tear but stitched in theatre, and the few people who've looked closely since have said it's particularly neat! Yay for me Confused

IdblowJonSnow · 07/02/2020 20:09

Hmm. Same ish I think. Dont really like to look. Pretty squeamish these days in general!
Regardless of what it looks like please dont put up with pain. See if you can get sorted with that after your next child is born.

Raspberrytruffle · 07/02/2020 20:09

I was to frightened to look but I'm older now and dont give a shit, if I look with a mirror it's the only way I can see it. I've had 1 emergency c-section after hours of pushing my almost 10 pound daughter to no avail they tried forceps, vontuse to no effe8she was just stuck or back to back so I believe my fanny had quite a bit tugging on it, dd2 was a quick natural birth. So I've got a fatty fundus that bony part on my vag due to my section, I used to be so neat before children now my flaps are crumpled and squashed look going on? Ah my tiny clit is now mighty like an elephant trunk! Kids eh

FoamingAtTheUterus · 07/02/2020 20:11

shinycat I'm honestly sick of seeing the likes of jingling on here.

It helps nobody and just puts off more vulnerable posters from using the page.

Raspberrytruffle · 07/02/2020 20:12

@Shinycat I call mine my growler Grin

Shinycat · 07/02/2020 20:12

Me too foaming.

cptartapp · 07/02/2020 20:12

Two vaginal births and two second degree tears, plus an episiotomy. Never looked in my life, certainly not after childbirth.
I remember the midwife with DC1 getting the doctor to stitch me up as she'd 'never done one of these before.' Still wonder what she meant by that!

Shinycat · 07/02/2020 20:12

growler LOL Raspberry

Waveysnail · 07/02/2020 20:13

I have mild prolapse but not too bad
