To ask if your post birth vagina looks very different?

I gave birth 2 years ago and had forceps & an episiotomy. It was very traumatic and nobody examined me afterwards, I didn’t push for anyone to as I didn’t want anyone going near me.

Now I’m due to give birth again and thought I would have a look down there with a mirror, and wow it looks fucking disgusting. Sorry for TMI but while my labia looks the same, everything underneath looks rearranged, swirly and bumpy. It looks like an alien vagina.

Does anyone else look so different afterwards or is this very unusual?

@Darkstar4855

It’s vulva, not vagina. The vagina is, by definition, the internal part.

ANOTHER one. 🙄

And yes, I am medically trained.

Good for you! 🥳 We bow to your superiority and great knowledge oh WISE one! Hmm

kenandbarbie · 07/02/2020 18:53

No idea. Could not care less what it looks like. I'll not be getting it out to show people.

bumblenbean · 07/02/2020 18:54

Glasgow smile 😂😂 brilliant. Punched lasagna and chopped liver also very accurate!

Episiotomy, forceps and 9.10oz baby - mine is a god awful mess. It really traumatised me the first time I saw it especially as it was quite ‘neat and tidy’ Before - things now just look so messy and there seem to be bits sort of hanging aimlessly...

madcatladyforever · 07/02/2020 18:55

I suppose it looks slightly baggy but it's been 40 years. I'm pretty sure it's improved with time.

TriangleBingoBongo · 07/02/2020 18:56

I had forceps, an episiotomy and a third degree tear. It’s been rearranged. The opening feels further up than before and I have some scaring. But it’s not too bad. I think if ever I had another sexual partner I’d be nervous.

Babooshkar · 07/02/2020 18:56

Mine is the same as I had CS, but the skin around the whole area has darkened in a horrible way. Sad

puds11 · 07/02/2020 18:58

Looks the same. One natural birth, no tearing and small baby, then on c section so fanjo was saved. Stomachs a fucking horror show though Grin

Namechange8471 · 07/02/2020 18:59

I had an episiotomy and a decent size baby (8lb 6oz)
I made the mistake of looking and thought eewww to be honest...
Thankfully it still feels quite tight, I just don’t bother to look at it too much 😂
I’m sure it’s fine op, personally I don’t think Fannies are very attractive before babies either 😂

ThePenIsBlue · 07/02/2020 18:59

Would it be wrong to send this thread to my bff who had her first baby 2 days ago?!

TriangleBingoBongo · 07/02/2020 18:59

I have enjoyed reading these, thanks ladies!

CointreauVersial · 07/02/2020 19:00

I haven't a bloody clue. I can't say I've ever looked at it.

But after 3 births and a recent gynae cancer, just about every medical professional in the south-east has looked at it over the last few years, and no-one has run screaming from the room yet.

Melroses · 07/02/2020 19:01

I was never stitched up after my first, so the muscles around the vagina had torn, and the whole perineal body twanged back giving me a perineum the width of my little finger.

It never felt right and I put up with it for years until I eventually went to the doctor and asked for a repair. I also had a small rectocele repair.

Everything felt normal again after (except the first month which was supposed to be a bit like having a baby all over again but was bloody awful - no idea how I coped with that and a baby as well before Shock )

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 07/02/2020 19:01

To be fair, vaginas are generally ugly, Post or pre birth they just don’t look good. They aren’t pleasing on the eye really, neither are cocks when you think about it.

Can’t say I’ve ever sat over a mirror to look at mine so I cat answer your question but I’ve had vaginal births and my DH hasn’t complained so 🤷🏻‍♀️

LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook · 07/02/2020 19:01

Mince looks basically the same now, took a good few months though. I do have a very light pink scar in about the 7 o'clock position from an episiotomy. The nurse who stitched me up said she is very particular about neatness and symmetry, when another walking past commented on how straight and tidy her stitching was. I should've been annoyed at they were talking about my fanjo but actually I was just pleased she'd done a good job! It did look puffy and veiny during pregnancy though....

ShinyCat · 07/02/2020 19:03

@P1nkHeartLovesCake

Agree.

'Alien face hugger' and 'last chicken in the shop' spring to mind when thinking about womens vaggies, and mens cock 'n' bollocks.

LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook · 07/02/2020 19:03

😂😂 mine I meant mine, not mince 😂😂😂

BaolFan · 07/02/2020 19:09

No kids myself but was talking childbirth recently with a friend of mine who has two, who described her fanjita as looking like a smashed kebab. It made us laugh!

smashstore · 07/02/2020 19:12

I haven't looked at mine since I was about 15 tbh, so over 25 years now. I don't care what it looks like, I can't see it anyway Grin

pickletickled · 07/02/2020 19:13

A definite yes!
No episiotomy nor stitches but 3 huge babies passed through and pretty much wrecked it.
My insides feel as though they returned to normal (due to lots of pelvic floor exercises) but the outside, just didn't.
My labia don't tuck in neatly like they once used to and it looks a bit like crinkled raw bacon.
And yeah what is with the change in colour?

MerryDeath · 07/02/2020 19:13

i used to have such a tidy fanny.

now i've had an episiotomy and then #2 tore through that and then some. it's not that bad. i've only glanced at it tbh... i don't really have time to care! . the only person who is going to see it knows exactly why it looks like that anyway Confused

Worried2020 · 07/02/2020 19:14

I’m never going to look 😂

U2HasTheEdge · 07/02/2020 19:15

Five babies, one ventouse delivery, no tears or stitches.

I havent looked for a long time. It looked OK last time I looked, but it looked baggier, like fatter?

JinglingHellsBells · 07/02/2020 19:17

when in God's name are women going to know the right names for their bodies?

@yadayadayesokay You cannot see your vagina unless you use a speculum and a mirror.

Your vagina is inside.

What you can see is your vulva.

And the entrance to your vagina.

You cannot see your vagina which is inside your body.

MatildaJane · 07/02/2020 19:17

I had an episiostomy 3x and the first birth was traumatic, with forceps as well. With the third birth it was a really quick labour and 3rd degree tearing. (Partner told everyone it was 2 pushes and baby was out - not true). Aesthetics down below were carnage. The midwife stitching me back up couldn't work out what bit went where and had to get a second opinion - patchwork springs to mind. And ever since I have peed like a stallion, very wide flow. And since menopause also leakage. It's shit.

ThePolishWombat · 07/02/2020 19:19

I haven’t looked myself....but I did beg DH to do an inspection after DC1 (minor tear with a few internal stitches) and he assured me it looked pretty normal down there.
I’ve had two more babies since then - very straightforward deliveries with no perenial trauma but still haven’t been brave enough to squat over a mirror Confused I’ll take DH’s word for it
