I’ve always wondered why his career was so badly damaged by what happened at his house.

It was awful that a man died, but he was never found guilty and it was never proved that he was in any way involved - as far as I remember.

He was so popular before and had a really strong career. AIBU to wonder why people turned against him so quickly?

I don’t mean this to be a goady thread, just generally wondering why he was the ‘only’ fall guy for what happened.

I just watched the documentary
I just can’t believe how much the police fucked up.
And why are they all lying for each other. It simply doesn’t make sense.

I actually believe that the three men who were arrested are probably the most likely. And that includes Barrymore.

How were they going to let him on dancing with ice ffs!

Look under judiciary.co.uk on google

His name is Michael Parker

Page 22 ish onwards holds the most detail

Logfootlightoe · 07/02/2020 22:49

That documentary wasn’t fact - it’s yet more speculation - tv for ‘entertainment’ if you can even call it that.

dayswithaY · 07/02/2020 22:53

@Lightfootlighttoe there seemed to be a lot of facts in the documentary. From two pathologists who examined the body.

Mushypeasandchipstogo · 07/02/2020 23:01

Just caught up with this documentary. I have no words.

Bluerussian · 07/02/2020 23:01

It wasn't a very good documentary.

The police investigation - both times - was terrible and the press didn't help a bit.

I wasn't impressed.

Much as I feel terribly sorry for Stuart Lubbock's family, I doubt the truth will ever emerge.

MarthasGinYard · 07/02/2020 23:11

Thanks FAQ's

I'm hopeless at linking things Smile

aroundtheworldyet · 07/02/2020 23:14

I don’t think the truth is ever going to come out either. Sadly

dayswithaY · 07/02/2020 23:23

On a side note, Philip Schofield has done Barrymore a massive favour today by shifting everyone's attention. He should at least send him flowers.

Chinks123 · 07/02/2020 23:36

Well it did have facts @Logfootlightoe, but ok you could always read the court transcript. MB is guilty one way or another. He either did it, or knows exactly who did.

NemophilistRebel · 07/02/2020 23:37

Reading through the court transcript is fascinating indeed

Why didn’t they ever follow up on the fact he visited Springfield Medical Centre the day after the death about something to do with his penis?!

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 07/02/2020 23:44

Why didn’t they ever follow up on the fact he visited Springfield Medical Centre the day after the death about something to do with his penis?!

What now? Shock

Wilmalovescake · 07/02/2020 23:47

I don’t know how the people who were there that night live with themselves.

I am quite sure every one of them knows exactly what happened to Stuart.

Scum the lot of them.

MarthasGinYard · 07/02/2020 23:47

I wondered that too

It's all so excruciatingly seedy

Picking up strangers plying them with drugs

Vile

aroundtheworldyet · 07/02/2020 23:47

@NemophilistRebel

Shock Really!

I guess they aren’t going to be able to find out. It is confidential

NemophilistRebel · 07/02/2020 23:47

Considering this is the court transcript of Barrymore taking the Essex police to court it actually paints Barrymore in a very bad light more so than the documentary did last night

NemophilistRebel · 07/02/2020 23:50

Snapshot of the point discussion the visit to the medical centre

It all beggars belief that so many avenues in that report weren't investigated.

Geoffreythecat · 08/02/2020 00:13

compelling evidence that the body was defiled post-mortem after it was taken from the scene and was supposedly secured- strong indications that this was an attempt to incriminate Barrymore and others for a crime that didn't actually happen.

Come on then, what is the compelling evidence? Why would a random police officer or NHS staff member want to do that? Wouldnt that be a wicked thing to make up to incriminate NHS staff or the police, perhaps to save your own skin. Also, the outrageous claim was investigated by the police and there was no evidence whatsoever that this might have happened. It also ignores the fact that poor Stuart Lubbock bled from his injuries and was therefore alive at the time they were inflicted. This was made very clear in the documentary. The whole theory was a lie made up to shift blame. I wonder why that might be.

Also I recall when it all happened that Barrymore claimed he couldn't swim. Unsurprisingly his wife, and others, confirmed that he could. I wonder why that might be.

Finally, just think for a second, if someone died at your house, would you run away? Michael Barrymore did. I wonder why that might be.

Maybe one day there will be justice for Stuart Lubbock. I hope so.

MarthasGinYard · 08/02/2020 00:18

Yes I'd forgotten the lies about swimming

salsmum · 08/02/2020 02:12

MB has made a whole career out of humiliating and demeaning folk with a superior air about him, I used to love to watch his programmes but then it got to the stage that he'd gleam pleasure out of embarrassing and ridiculing others which seemed to get worse as he gained popularity ( and his drinking may have got worse). Some celebrities are narcissistic and believe they are untouchable ( especially at their peak). It's possible that SL went back to M house on the promise of meeting other celebs, party, drink or maybe 'soft drugs' . He may have been teased after a few drinks about his sexuality ( are you REALLY straight) and forced to take harder drugs in order to 'relax' him. When he protested and fought that's when he was held around the neck/throat in order to restrain him. After a possible gang rape in which objects were used he may have lost consciousness and then was thrown in the pool. The girls who witnessed this horrific attack would have been terrified into silence. Money/ involvement would have ensured that nobody would have spoken about it and at the time I seem to remember that it was reported as a drug/drink fuelled party that resulted in Stuart drowning. Sadly as mentioned much of the dna evidence was lost with the victim being in water. I'm surprised that they didn't try lie detectors on all the guests.

Velveteal · 08/02/2020 06:06

Could this documentary prevent any future conviction of ever sticking because the accused could appeal that he didn’t receive a fair trial? How would they find a jury when so much is now known about the case?

Stuart’s family especially his children must be absolutely devastated by this. I hope they find peace and justice.
