I’ve always wondered why his career was so badly damaged by what happened at his house.

It was awful that a man died, but he was never found guilty and it was never proved that he was in any way involved - as far as I remember.

He was so popular before and had a really strong career. AIBU to wonder why people turned against him so quickly?

I don’t mean this to be a goady thread, just generally wondering why he was the ‘only’ fall guy for what happened.

Hopefully the Lubbock family will finally see some justice.

GrimDamnFanjo · 17/03/2021 16:20

Hopefully they've had a breakthrough. Only 8 people were at the house that night. I read an article regarding the statements which were given over a series of months in ever increasing detail and cross matched.
I'd like to think that this exposed the person responsible and the police have now got all the evidence they need.

BillCar · 17/03/2021 16:23

I have everything crossed that there will finally be justice for Stuart and his family.

Probably because a family entertainer holding drug fuelled parties just isn’t a good look. I don’t think he was involved but I’ve always disliked Barrymore.

jessstan2 · 17/03/2021 17:04

I think the main criticism was that Michael Barrymore drove off somewhere rather than face the police and medics but nobody thinks he murdered the poor guy. I do hope this crime can be solved, without any doubts, once and for all but people have been arrested before.

"Probably because a family entertainer holding drug fuelled parties just isn’t a good look. I don’t think he was involved but I’ve always disliked Barrymore".

This!

Hangers on , entourage, managers and his own poor judgement have culminated in the end of a young life. I hope the victim and their family get justice.

I also never personally took to Barrymore in the day but,i do not think he was directly involved with this. People around him, open invitations on nights out, hedonism and his poor judgement have led to this appalling loss of a young life.

I hope the Police can solve this, justice for Stuart and for his family who survive him.

Chloemol · 17/03/2021 18:11

Because he died at a party at his house, in his pool and Michael ran away when the police were called.

That, to me, indicates he has something to hide, he didn’t care about the man who died just himself

That’s why fans turned against him and the work dried up

He only has himself to blame

gluteustothemaximus · 17/03/2021 20:37

I hope there is finally justice for Stuart and his family.

A man was murdered in the most horrific way, and no one has been held responsible for it.

8 people there, someone there did it, someone there knows who did it.

Barrymore rubbed cocaine into Stuart's gums against his will. I expect if someone is happy to force drugs into someone, they might do other things. Clearly he has no boundaries.

Why did he get changed? Why did he avoid police? Why were objects removed and who removed them?

It is always about him, never Stuart.

I personally think he did it or was part of it, and maybe they were all involved, hence radio silence for all.

Whoever it was, this is one case I'd love to see someone go behind bars for. His poor family, his poor father, he is dying and to see some sort of justice or resolution for him would be something.

Hairydilemma · 18/03/2021 17:12

Gluteus I completely agree with everything you’ve written.

They haven’t named the man arrested but I think only one person who was at the party is 50 now. I hope the reward has led someone else to ‘remember’ something that happened or that someone said afterwards. And I hope the 50 year old drops anyone else in it who might be guilty.

As others have said, I think there were too few people there for any of the main suspects not to have known what went on, even if they weren’t involved.

Redrum2222 · 04/05/2021 06:31

Reading in the papers today, the police think they had enough evidence to charge a 50 year old with this murder! Hopefully justice at last!
