Pooing in the en suite!!

MisfitNinja · 03/02/2020 08:08

Settle an age old debate between myself and my DH:

Shitting in the en suite:

Yes or no?

I say no, as it will stink the bedroom out and he disagrees and says that it doesn't matter. If he needs to go he'll go whichever toilets closets!!

Well we have one bathroom and it’s through our kitchen!

Same here @Purplelion - I imagine that would cause some MN'ers to spontaneously combust with horror Grin

needadvicethankyouplease · 03/02/2020 11:03

Yes as long as it's in the toilet.

SallyWD · 03/02/2020 11:03

Never occurred to me we couldn't poo in the en-suite! Just shut the door afterwards. I can honestly say our bedroom has never smelled of poo!

JosefKeller · 03/02/2020 11:04

Absolutely vile!
Only if you are a guest and that's your toilet, but it's still gross.

I don't understand why people love putting toilets in bathroom anyway. Fair enough when you really haven't got the space, but many houses could have a smaller bathroom and separate toilet.

Who likes to have a bath or brush their teeth in a room stinking of poo? Puzzling.

Another mystery of this country.

JeezyPeeps · 03/02/2020 11:04

@BohoBunney if someone has a bowel disorder, that's different.

Bakedbrie · 03/02/2020 11:08

We have an outside loo. Send DH out there in all weathers with his newspaper!

okiedokieme · 03/02/2020 11:08

I use the main bathroom, don't want to disturb dp with the flush, nothing to do with smells (there's a fan, but the fan is noisy) as there's no one else in the house, why there's 2 bathrooms is beyond me (it's only a small 2 bed house)

Why do people's poos smell so badly they linger for hours?!

CoffeeRunner · 03/02/2020 11:15

See, I find this all totally ridiculous & immature. Toilets are for doing whatever you need to do in them. People act as if their family members are shitting in the hand basin.

I just don't get the angst TBH.

anon2000000000 · 03/02/2020 11:18

Isn't that what a toilet is for?

Rainbunny · 03/02/2020 11:19

DH and I have an unofficial agreement - the ensuite is my mine and he treats the main bathroom as his and I don't generally use that one. We're lucky though as we have 3 1/2 bathrooms so we can avoid being grossed out by each other's bodily functions - although I will state for a fact that I don't produce very smelly poos whereas my DH makes the worst smelling crap in the world. I've given up wondering what going on in his colon to produce such toxic results... He does eat a lot of meat and I'm veggie so maybe something there makes a difference but even when I ate meat I didn't produce anything as bad.

JosefKeller · 03/02/2020 11:20

why hours? Do you have a written schedule that no one can poo when you want to brush your teeth?

Would you put a toilet in your kitchen? Of course not. I wouldn't brush my teeth next to one either, no difference.

If there's a free toilet in the house, using the one in the en-suite is just disgusting.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/02/2020 11:20

I forget who asked, but yes, of course there’s a burnt match smell! It’s preferable to the other, though. And certainly better than aerosols.

HillAreas · 03/02/2020 11:22

This isn’t about shitting in A Toilet or not. This is about en suites. Which are very uncivilised IMO. Shitting shouldn’t be happening a few feet from where the sleeping and sexing happens. It’s just awful Confused

augustusglupe · 03/02/2020 11:25

God no!!
Main bathroom or downstairs loo. We’re in rented at the mo and downstairs loo is DHs, main bathroom mine and en suite used for showering and having a wee. Definitely nothing else!!
In my new house if I could have about 6 bathrooms for various uses then that would be great Grin

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/02/2020 11:27

In our last house DH was only allowed to do so in the Ensuite. We had 3 toilets- downstairs, family, and ensuite. The ensuite was the only one with a window.

adaline · 03/02/2020 11:27

why hours? Do you have a written schedule that no one can poo when you want to brush your teeth?

Well, if someone was pooing I would just...y'know, wait until they were finished. Why would you need to use the bathroom at the same time as someone else?

I've never once needed to share a bathroom with someone doing a poo!

Ilovepinot · 03/02/2020 11:29

My DH goes in his loo downstairs, I go in the ensuite, but after he has left the bedroom.

JeezyPeeps · 03/02/2020 11:33

Better speak to the people that designed my house, and put the bathroom right next to the bedroom Shock.

Is not en-suite, but it's no further away than an en-suite would be.

JosefKeller · 03/02/2020 11:34

ell, if someone was pooing I would just...y'know, wait until they were finished. Why would you need to use the bathroom at the same time as someone else?

well yes, you wait until they finish, but you brush your teeth in a room where someone just poop 30 seconds ago. That's very grim.

QueSera · 03/02/2020 11:44

Poo, flush poo away - problem solved. Close door if there is one. Spray air freshener if you want.
This is the most bizarre thing I've ever heard, not being allowed to poo in a toilet in your own house Confused

RedToothBrush · 03/02/2020 11:44

Rip out your ensuite, if you aren't going to use it for its intended purpose.

Problem solved.

Don't want to do that?

Quit moaning and grow up.

Standrewsschool · 03/02/2020 11:45

Yes, not a problem

Yesterdayforgotten · 03/02/2020 11:51

'RedToothBrush Rip out your ensuite, if you aren't going to use it for its intended purpose.'

No because I like to use the shower and sink and toilet for number 1s is fine, number 2 is fine also but when nobody in bed otherwise what is do bad about going to family bathroom instead.

JosefKeller · 03/02/2020 11:52

Quit moaning and grow up.

feeling a bit bitter this morning, are we? Grin
