I walked in to find him with a big bag of monkey nuts, merrily eating them in their shells.

That’s not right is it? You’re not supposed to eat the shells.

Monkey Nuts [peanuts] are also known as Ground Nuts - because they grow underground in soil! I definitely wouldn't eat the shells.

Where I come from, peanuts are the local produce and in abundance during winters if thats what you are calling monkey nuts? We are told that they should be eaten roasted as they have toxins when in raw form and you need to roast them to get rid of them. And you need to peel the shell off ( I think even the monkeys remove the shell!) and the red skin although some people do eat them with the skin.

wtf is a monkey nut?

agonyauntie2020 · 04/02/2020 03:48

I so thought hoped this would be about something else you caught him doing.

@FrangipaniBlue ,
You eat DS's what now ?

SucculentCandle · 04/02/2020 05:38

Do you work in a zoo OP?

Balls, you beat me to it.

kateandme · 04/02/2020 05:49

for those saying apple seeds and cores are poisonous.lets not scaremonger people more!its a highly researched myth for the most part as you would probably need to thoroughly chew and swallow over 150 apple seeds before you experienced any adverse symptoms.
of course that is different for toddlers and babies because the toxin toweight ration would be different.

hopefulhalf · 04/02/2020 06:03

I eat the whole apple as does my DF and Dd. DH and DS throw it out. I thought it waa generic.
