I walked in to find him with a big bag of monkey nuts, merrily eating them in their shells.

That’s not right is it? You’re not supposed to eat the shells.

Look, some of us eat the whole apple, it's to avoid walking about with a manky core, the cyanide in the pips is minimal and anyway we core-eaters don't chew them!

I've been doing it for many many years and I'm not dead yet. It can be a bit scratchy, but the trick is to save some of the nice appley top for the end.

I eat the entire orange, peel and all. My friends think it's obsurd. I wash them since someone on MN warned me about pesticides but YUM.

Also ate raw potato as a kid when my nanna was cooking chips, and raw peas when making mushy peas, and raw spaghetti.

I’ve been struck with a bizarre urge to confess my own revolting sin. As a child I would like the shells of roasted pistachios judge away, I deserve it.

I eat the skin on a kiwi. Just slice it and eat it. Don't think id fancy eating the shells of a monkey nut though. Part of the fun of eating them is cracking them open

No - kiwis much be eaten straight from the fridge, cut in half and scooped out with a teaspoon. Excellent for hangovers.

My gran used to eat monkey nuts, oranges, and bananas in their skins. To be fair she was really healthy and unlike a lot of her peers didn’t have calcium / vit d deficiencies so she probably got something right.

Everybody licks the pistachio shells though.

I once observed someone eating an apple. The whole apple! pips, stalk and all. Thought that was a bit strange.

A couple of years ago a new guy started and was seated next to me, he had quite bad eczema and was constantly scratching. I didn't mind that, can't be helped and I felt awfully sorry for him as it looked so sore. It was when he tidied the pile of skin into a small mound, licked his finger, proceeded to dip it periodically in the dead skin and then put it in his mouth. That was revolting
