I walked in on my colleague doing something revolting

I walked in to find him with a big bag of monkey nuts, merrily eating them in their shells.

That’s not right is it? You’re not supposed to eat the shells.

Log it with 101. Cancel the cheque too

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/01/2020 22:55

I even eat DSs scrunt when he's finished

I hope that's a typo for "crust", otherwise I'm not sure that I want to know what it is . . . Hmm

BigChocFrenzy · 01/02/2020 00:11

Wanking would be far more normal than this

UkSky · 01/02/2020 00:40

I stopped dating a guy many years ago because he ate prawns with the shell on.

Shallow I know but watching him eat and listening to the crunching turned my stomach Envy

Stabbitha1 · 01/02/2020 00:42

Drama lama

Whizbang · 01/02/2020 00:59

I used to work with a lady who enjoyed eating raw bacon rind Confused

CharlotteMD · 01/02/2020 01:14

I knew somebody who eat prawns whole - shell, legs the lot. She never wore a coat either, even in the most bitterly cold weather.

Skittlesandbeer · 01/02/2020 02:42

You mean peanuts, right?

I used to go on tropical holidays to Vanuatu, and one of the great treats was buying fresh peanuts from the women’s market, picked that day. Could eat my body weight in them (whole) with a couple of beers. So pale white and soft. Like a completely different food. Sigh...

Old dry ones? Yuk! Like eating bitter, textured cardboard, I imagine.

Casino218 · 01/02/2020 03:16

I do know I can't feed apple pips to my rabbits as they are poisonous! Therefore I would think twice about eating them myself!

EerieSilence · 01/02/2020 04:26

OP, I wouldn’t mind watching anyone doing this except for thinking how painful his Nr.2s must be.
However, this thread contains some fairly ludicrous and false statements:

  1. You would have to eat a ginormous amount of apple seeds to get poisoned or feel any effects of the cyanide. I used to love eating apricot seeds too and lived to tell the tale.
  2. Yes, you can eat raw potatoes. Not the green parts or where they start sprouting. If you’re after the slightly starchy taste, buy potato sugar candy somewhere where they still make it, it’s delicious.
B0bbin · 01/02/2020 04:36

I eat kiwi skins too. Nutritious and delicious Grin I have a vague memory of chewing on a monkey nut shell as a toddler and spitting it out. Can't work out how they would be tasty. I'd have to coat them in chocolate I think...

B0bbin · 01/02/2020 04:39

Ah skittles that makes sense. Sounds like they're very different fresh.

Aprilsinparis · 01/02/2020 06:42

Jeeez, I thought you were going to say he was doing something that should only be done in the privacy of your own toilet😯

happycamper11 · 01/02/2020 07:05

I never failed to be horrified but my friends (now ex) Step father. Over time I have witnessed him eating raw sausages straight from the pack, raw potato scones straight from the pack and chewing down on a block of Stilton as you might an apple - if he ate whole monkey nuts it wouldn't surprise me at all at this point

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/02/2020 08:58

She never wore a coat either, even in the most bitterly cold weather.

I am a cold-weather-coat-shunner, too. I hate coats.

I wear a big scarf or a cardie and am rarely uncomfortably cold, no matter how bitter it is outside (wind can be a bugger though - when you take in the wind chill factor it can be arctic up here). However I always wear wolly/fleecy hat (I've never realised before, but I must look a bit odd Blush ).

But I am from the North-East, and we are a hardier breed . . . Grin

noblegiraffe · 01/02/2020 10:29

People on this thread who eat peels, skins, cores, shells....how did it start?

Did you look at everyone else diligently peeling their satsuma/throwing away their core/shelling their nut and think ‘what a waste, I’ll give it a nibble’? Or did you buy the food not knowing how to eat it properly and now you’re just doubling down on your initial error?

OP posts:
clary · 01/02/2020 12:20

I eat the core because I don't like walking about holding one, looking for a bin. Yes I know it biodegrades but it's still messy. I would do it with more things but I would struggle to eat banana skin and orange skin is not nice either (I've tried). The apple core is fine tho, and I don't waste all the apple the rest of you do 🍎

noblegiraffe · 01/02/2020 13:15

So if you were stood right next to a bin, you’d bin the core?

OP posts:
TheDarkPassenger · 01/02/2020 13:57

Omg hahahha I didn’t open this last night because I was eating my tea 😂😂

Twillow · 01/02/2020 14:12

@EerieSilence I looked back at what I'd written about cyanide and it wasn't entirely clear, hope I didn't panic anyone - so yes, apple pips contain a minute amount of cyanide and yes, you would have to eat an enormous quantity to be poisoned by apple pips!

CigarsofthePharoahs · 01/02/2020 14:18

I used to eat prawn shells. Didn't realize you weren't supposed to.
I did used to eat raw bacon rind too. My mum always bought bacon with the rind and then would carefully cut it off before cooking. So I'd eat it, as did my siblings.
As an adult I've come to enjoy the rind cooked. It goes lovely and crispy.

clary · 01/02/2020 14:29

So if you were stood right next to a bin, you’d bin the core?

No, because its a habit now, just how I eat an apple :)

Wonkybanana · 01/02/2020 14:33

I used to work with a lady who enjoyed eating raw bacon rind

I forgot about that one. Not the rind, but DP will always take a bit of the raw bacon (plus any fat that comes with it) before it goes into the frying pan.

And a friend of ours eats a whole raw onion the way the rest of us would eat an apple.

noblegiraffe · 01/02/2020 14:57

thedarkpassenger bet you were glad you waited! Grin

Raw bacon rind? Isn’t that a food poisoning risk??

OP posts:
SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/02/2020 16:33

I don't do that - but I do enjoy an onion sandwich.

Thinly sliced onion, white bread and butter, a sprinkling of black pepper . . . . mmmmm - yum!
