I have just discovered, by accident, that if you open another tab in your web browser, you can click on the tab and drag it away so that you have a second separate browser open at the same time. I don't mean split screen but like you have opened a separate thing. Did you all know this already?

I know this is a pathetic thing to get excited about but I was literally like this Shock and then giddy with excitement.

AIBU to be be pleased with my discovery?

and plus or minus will enlarge or reduce the size of most web pages in most browsers - use for Mac

Cohle · 31/01/2020 11:55

Although I can't actually think of how that would be useful in the real world.

I only find it useful when swapping makes the percentage easier to work out in your head, eg. for me, 18% of 50 is much harder to do mentally than 50% of 18.

SoupDragon · 31/01/2020 11:57

Also tapping the time on a iPhone on a webpage takes you to the top of the page.

You can tap anywhere in that top bar, not just the time.

Waffles taste better from the toaster

I don't know how else to heat them

WallyDancre · 31/01/2020 12:06

The sun visors in cars are only fixed at the point closest to the window. Once you flip it down you can unhook the other side and swing it out to provide shade from the side.
I often see people looking blinded by the sun from the side but the visor is only flipped down so I don't think a lot of people know.

My mum (86) didn't know this until I showed her a few months ago. Nor did she know that most cars - including hers - have an anti-dazzle driving mirror for use when the BMW driver inconsiderate twerp behind has her headlights on full beam.

Am I the only one who has been merrily trying all the computer tips I've learnt today? Thank you!

"The small brown coins that you are sometimes given in change are actually legal tender. I’d been putting them straight in the bin!"

???????!!!!?!!!!??

This is such a shit design though! Too much faffing about and I always have to duck it of the way to move it to the side or back again. Rubbish on journeys that change direction too as your u have to keep moving it - why is there not a separate little visor on the side window?! Or (and
I'm sure I've seen this on a hire car, possibly in the US) a two layer visor so you can just flip round the top layer?

flowerycurtain · 31/01/2020 12:18

You can cook beans in a tin in the Aga.

Can't believe someone here has been chucking out money

Can't believe how few people can detect humour these days...!

I used to love potato waffles when I had a gas grill, but now with the electric grill they don't seem to come out the same. They used to be all oily and sizzly but now they come out kind of dry and hard and less soft in the middle. Does the toaster make them how I remember them?

Straycatstrut · 31/01/2020 12:26

I was excited to try the waffles in toaster thing! It worked and they cooked far quicker (5 mins), and tasted far nicer. But it's destroyed my toaster. Definitely use toasty bags if you try it!

As if you'd chuck away coppers? Are you very young?

To be honest I'm 30's and I haven't used actual money for ages, it's been card payments only for over a year now.

crosspelican · 31/01/2020 12:26

OMG at the lying the toaster on its side. I would never ever have thought of that.

lesleyw1953 · 31/01/2020 12:31

That you can easily clean burnt on grunge off your iron using paracetamol tablets.

QuimReaper · 31/01/2020 12:32

Am I the only one who's just bought some toaster bags? Wonder if Amazon will be wondering why they've seen a spike in sales Grin

totallydevoidofideas · 31/01/2020 12:32

A toaster, on its side??? I've never heard such a thing. This is witchcraft on this thread.

MintyMabel · 31/01/2020 12:32

Percentages are reversible e.g. 8% of 25 is the same as 25% of 8.

This has been all over Twitter this week.

BrendasUmbrella · 31/01/2020 12:37

I didn't know there was a 600 item limit on save for later on Amazon. For years I've been adding books I like the look of to the basket, then moving them out when I wanted to actually buy something, and for about two years every time I've added something, something got deleted from the end of the list. Unless you're a prolific window shopper like me this discovery won't affect you, but if you are, start sorting your save for later list into wishlists to keep them from disappearing!

malmi · 31/01/2020 12:37

Surely having the toaster on its side results in your snack being ejected across the kitchen like a frisbee when it's done...

Thelnebriati · 31/01/2020 12:38

@thefamousfiveplusone Thats not actually how you do sex.

Thelnebriati · 31/01/2020 12:40

You can cook beans in a tin in the Aga.

Open the tin or it will be more dramatic than you expected.

Mumbassa · 31/01/2020 12:43

I’m definitely trying waffles in the toaster!

Ohyesiam · 31/01/2020 12:48

Percentages are reversible e.g. 8% of 25 is the same as 25% of 8.

Bloody hell!

CharmingB · 31/01/2020 12:48

Not me, but I just taught someone this morning that they could save a Word document straight to pdf, so they don't have to print it out and scan it back in to attach to an email!

Straycatstrut · 31/01/2020 12:49

Do NOT do the toaster on it's side thing - I just googled it!

British lady tried out a life hack she read about on Facebook with unfortunate results. The suggestion was to lay the toaster on its side to make cheese on toast instead of grilling it. The idea back fired nearly destroying her kitchen before fire fighters arrived to put out the blaze. Life Hack: Using a toaster on its side to make cheese toast. Result: Epic Fail!
