Nigel Farage is a DISGRACE TO THE HUMAN RACE AND SHOULD BE DETAINED AT CUSTOMS

What the hell was that debacle in the European Parliament yesterday when he had the audacity to stand there grinning like the Cheshire Cat, basically telling them all good riddance, and then this was followed by the horror of his cronies such as Anne Widdicombe and other half-wits taking it upon themselves to rise to their feet to wave their silly little Union Jacks and sing something? Was it Rule Britannia? They were told to sit down or get out like a pack of show-off fools in a classroom.
Why is this man allowed over there? Can’t someone detain him at customs or something? Grinning like the Cheshire Cat and making us look like bigoted fools everywhere he sets foot. I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a politician this much - and that’s saying something. Vile, pathetic little man who needs to crawl back under his rock for good.

They are very arrogant and its a political ideology I certainly don't want to to be a part of.
Hilarious, a Brit calling the EU arrogant! have you ever listened to your esteemed politicians talk? Farage, Boris, Rees Mogg oh and that wonderful Patel suggesting using potential food shortages in Ireland as leverage against the backstop - They are arrogance personified!

Farage actually made a crucial point about the eu forcing countries to keep voting until their first desired outcome is reached but all pp see is a flag.
Where is the evidence for this? If you are talking about the Lisbon Treaty you are misguided. Yes Ireland voted no first time but guess what then happened, the government went back to the EU to renegotiate the bits the Irish had a problem with, treaty amended and Ireland happy with the changes voted for it. If that is not an example of democracy I really don't know what it is.

I am sad that the UK are leaving the EU but coming from a country that was colonised and taken over by a foreign nation and had their land, language, religion and culture systematically eroded over the hundreds of years of colonisation and had to fight hard to regain independence but falling short of the 6 counties in the North, I find it insulting to us and any other country that was colonised by force that farage and his ilk see this as some kind of victory over sovereignty. You sought to join the EU when your country was on its knees and you have voted to leave and will be, so stop with the victory speeches you were never a member held against your will or forced by force to remain a member.
I am very glad Ireland remains a member of the EU we have done better in the 40 odd years we have been members of the EU then in the previous 600 odd years we were under British rule

WoollyMollyMonkey · 31/01/2020 18:41

Meadowland they’ll be able to have their blue passports! What more could one want?!

Meadowland · 31/01/2020 19:05

So, just back from work and see the Leave voters are still trying to find an answer to my very straightforward question....
Anyone ???
Surely you can't have voted to send this country into economic and social decline just so you can have a blue passport ??

Meadowland · 31/01/2020 22:53

The silence is indeed deafening.
Come on, you voted for Brexit. Please, and 3 of us have asked the same question, tell us just ONE practical way your life will be better.

Thedogscollar · 31/01/2020 23:03

So embarrassed by that truly awful "leaving speech" if you could call it that in the EU Parliament the other day. They were all like a bunch of naughty children sniggering and laughing. He is a horrid man but got his families passports all sorted out. Such hypocrisy it's breathtaking.

DBML · 31/01/2020 23:41

@Meadowland

I’m glad of the opportunity to do a trade deal with the US, either hopefully lower tariffs.

I can’t remember the last time I visited another European country, maybe Greece in 2003? but I spend extensive time in the States and importing from the States.
I understand that’s a personal benefit to me if we are able to do such a deal. As I said, I appreciate that we now have this opportunity.

SoupDragon · 01/02/2020 09:04

And what if that "opportunity" doesn't come to fruition? It's not a guaranteed outcome.

ButtonandPickle19 · 01/02/2020 09:09

Wish we could.. he makes my skin crawl

CameFromAway · 01/02/2020 09:15

His behaviour was appalling - the sort of thing Rik from the Young Ones would do.

Yet again we’re international laughing stocks.

Limitedsimba123 · 01/02/2020 09:26

DMBL, so in the US trade deal, which U.K. industries do you think the gov should secure lower tariffs for in order to promote exports, and which industries do you think the gov should expose to dangerous competition from US in form of low tariffs in return? And can you tell me how promoting/exposing said industries will mitigate effect of creating trade barriers with our neighbours, considering the gravity theory means trade volumes usually half with every doubling of distance?

SecretIdentitee · 01/02/2020 09:29

Wow what Dulra said 100%

Also I think it is being forgotten/disregarded by a lot of people that whilst yes the UK left the EU yesterday, a lot of negotiating will have to be done in the next 11 months.
Still no long term solution for the UK border in Ireland, no trade deals done etc etc.
I think a false sense of security will happen over the next few months ' 'look we left the EU and we are doing fine!'
But nothing will change till next year, let's see what deals the UK gets. Farage and his band of eejits obviously never heard the phrase 'don't burn your bridges', UK diplomats now have to deal with the EU to finalise deals after he insulted those same EU negotiators.

DBML · 01/02/2020 10:55

@Limitedsimba123

You want an essay there! I didn’t realise I was going to have to write 2000 words in order to fully justify my decision.
Why is my answer that I would like a good trade deal with the US sufficient? And had we stayed in the EU and never had this opportunity, then for sure I would not have seen any benefit. It would have been more of the same, for me at least.

I’ve made my decision. I acted on it in the referendum. I am now remaining positive that something good can come of it.

The UK isn’t going to start refusing workers rights or environmental standards. They aren’t going to start making people pay for NHS treatment (though to be honest private health would probably be cheaper than what I currently contribute in my NI). Your day to day lives will probably go on for the most part, without real differences observed.

DBML · 01/02/2020 10:56

Damn auto text!

Clavinova · 01/02/2020 11:09

Where is the evidence for this? If you are talking about the Lisbon Treaty you are misguided.

BBC:
"After voters in France and the Netherlands rejected the constitution, EU leaders returned to the drawing board and came up with the Lisbon Treaty."

"In many ways, it was similar to the constitution. However, instead of replacing the previous treaties, it was an amendment."

"Despite the similarities, and support for a second referendum, the French government decided against putting the treaty forward for a vote."

"Instead, they opted to put it to France's MPs and senators, who met in a special congress at Versailles in February 2008."

lljkk · 01/02/2020 13:58

Why is a trade deal with USA so desirable? What is so great about trading with the USA that it's worth building up huge trade barriers with EU to get it?

Vladimir Putin is the huge winner in all this.

wowfudge · 01/02/2020 14:04

Well at now Farage doesn't have a valid platform to give us his two penneth on EU related matters anymore. He's no longer an MEP and his Brexit Party has achieved what it wanted. He should crawl back under the stone he slithered out from.

Meadowland · 02/02/2020 12:10

So @Changename5000 @Saddler @Firecarrier @KenzoBaby @NeverForgetYourDreams @TigerOnATrain @Sallysaved @DBML
Between you, you cannot cite a single way your, or anybody's,( except probably the super rich) life here will be better after Brexit ?
Meanwhile Remain voters can come up with plenty that are very likely to make our lives worse.
And you wonder why we struggle to have any respect for you.

BonnesVacances · 02/02/2020 12:26

The point is it doesn't matter if there are or aren't any tangible benefits. This is about feels.

People who don't want to prop up poorer member states with UK money. The poorer countries can stand on their own two feet. Just like the UK will be now. And now people can't come here from their poorer countries and enjoy the fruits of the UK.

It doesn't get any simpler than that.

It doesn't matter about logic, about level playing fields benefiting everyone, or net benefit from immigration. Because it's the principle, innit.

wowfudge · 02/02/2020 12:31

The UK has an ageing population. Economic growth needs workers and with fewer young people, the UK needs people of working age to come here and do the jobs that need filling. To want to restrict people from other EU countries coming here to work means they will need to come from somewhere else instead.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 02/02/2020 12:32

now Farage doesn't have a valid platform to give us his two penneth on EU related matters anymore

He was on Marr this morning. He'll never fuck off. His next plan is to destroy the EU completely.

DBML · 02/02/2020 13:30

@Meadowland

Or is it that you simply disregard anything that people in favour of leaving say?

I’ve given you the reason I want to leave and I’ve said that a trade deal with the US is in my favour. I’m not going to give you the fine details, my name, address, financial history and in depth plan of how I expect to prosper from a US/UK trade deal am I?...plus I’m waiting to see what even happens now. The point is that there’s an opportunity for ME, hence my personal decision to vote this way. I’m sorry if that doesn’t suit you.

As a person who spends months of the year in the US, it makes sense for me to want closer ties to them rather than the EU. Im sure you’ll think that’s very selfish, but you voted for you and I voted for me.

Additionally I never bother to vacation in the EU so free movement is neither here nor there for me. I vacation in the Bahamas and Florida Keys mainly, with odd Caribbean cruises and approaching plans to visit the Maldives and Australasia. I wouldn’t care less if the EU wanted to charge £1000’s for travel visas, I’d never be interested in going back there anyway.

clunkyinthebackend · 02/02/2020 14:01

Yanbu he is like someone’s embarrassing uncle at a wedding.
He needs to sit down and shut the fuck up.

ilovesooty · 02/02/2020 14:32

I hope those who support Farage's behaviour expect higher standards of manners from their children.

Firecarrier · 02/02/2020 21:08

I hope those who support Farage's behaviour expect higher standards of manners from their children

So song as they've got more grace, better manners and a stronger sense of justice than the majority of vocal remainers I'm sure they'll be just fine Wink

ilovesooty · 02/02/2020 21:20

@Firecarrier exactly the response I expected.

No way can Farage's behaviour be justified by anyone with any decency.
