Do you have a hatred for Phoebe Waller-Bridge because of her originality or some other reason?
Did you do it as a joke or to wind up someone?
Did you hope it would end the National Television Awards?

Please confess why.

Nottobesniffedat · 29/01/2020 18:34

Ugh, don't tell me that tripe has won some sort of Award.

Bartlet · 29/01/2020 18:35

Because they are deeply stupid with a very poorly developed sense of humour?

Spamantha · 29/01/2020 18:35

Isn't this the 4th time its won it?

I agree its terrible but it's obviously incredibly popular.

Sparklfairy · 29/01/2020 18:38

I haven't watched it for years but used to love it in the early days. I have Irish blood and 'get' the humour but can't be bothered anymore.

IslandTulip · 29/01/2020 18:38

Probably the same reason the Sun used to the most popular newspaper. Not sure if it still is.

WombatStewForTea · 29/01/2020 18:41

Ugh hate Mrs Brown's Boys.
However I can't stand Phoebe Waller-Bridge Blush
Doubt she gives a shit anyway. Her hands are too full of golden globes and the like to give a shit about an NTA

Urkiddingright · 29/01/2020 18:42

I didn’t even know Mrs Browns boys was still going tbh, it’s bloody awful.

nakedavengeragain · 29/01/2020 18:42

You just need to see who their 'partners' are and where NTA voting gets advertised.
The Sun
ITV
Heat Magazine
OK magazine

I presume programmes like This Morning and Loose women bang on about it too. It's a certain demographic who vote.

whyamidoingthis · 29/01/2020 18:42

I'm Irish, live in Ireland and think it's tripe. Most people I know over the age of about 16 agree.

PuppyMonkey · 29/01/2020 18:43

I have Irish blood too and I can confirm there is absolutely NO HUMOUR to get in this programme. Hmm

Just proves once again, never trust the public to vote for something. Grin Wink

Newmetoday · 29/01/2020 18:43

I’m not a fan but just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it bad, it’s just different to what you like. It’s pure snobbery on mumsnet

needanewnamechange · 29/01/2020 18:44

Well I think it's rubbish but it would be a odd world if we all liked the same things.

Sparklfairy · 29/01/2020 18:47

Agreed. Just because you state something isn't funny doesn't make it fact. There's loads of comedians I simply can't watch and can't understand why they're hugely popular.

As an aside, the books (published before the TV show came out) really are brilliant Grin

coconuttelegraph · 29/01/2020 18:47

It's pretty obvious that the demographic of people who vote for tv awards shows isn't going to have much overlap with the viewers of teabag.

I haven't seen it so can't comment on which is better but it doesn't surprise me that MBB would win an audience vote.

The80sweregreat · 29/01/2020 18:47

The man who plays her is very nice and they seem to enjoy making it and writing it.
I don't like it but then I know plenty of people who dislike things I find funny ( the office, Alan partridge , Porridge , car share etc )
I was surprised it won but proves it's still popular and been going for a while now!

PuppyMonkey · 29/01/2020 18:52

Teabag Grin

Kanga83 · 29/01/2020 18:54

Can't stand PWB. Absolutely can't stand the woman or her show or attempt at humour. I find her horrendous, full of arrogant indifference and conceited. I find her doing the opposite to what she actually strives to achieve for feminism . I'm not a fan of Mrs browns boys enough to vote but can't say I'm sorry they won over PWB.

Kanga83 · 29/01/2020 18:56

The books are however brilliant, posted too soon.

overnightangel · 29/01/2020 18:56

“Do you have a hatred for Phoebe Waller-Bridge because of her originality or some other reason?”

Or maybe not, you know, find her work particularly funny?
Have you nowt better to twine about Confused

Redshoeblueshoe · 29/01/2020 19:00

The autocorrects on here are brilliant Grin

LouLou789 · 29/01/2020 19:03

I couldn’t believe it won either. Mind you, several of the award winners just seemed to be a repeat of last year’s result. I voted for After Life.

Greysparkles · 29/01/2020 19:06

I find MBB quite funny tbh! In a slapstick, carry on way.
My dad loves it, and went to see it live at the o2.
I've also seen fleabag, I didn't think it was anything that special! Each to their own and all that.
Theres no need to make a thread on mumsnet making out you're somehow superior because you have a different sense of humour Confused

It's pretty obvious that the demographic of people who vote for tv awards shows isn't going to have much overlap with the viewers of teabag

I don't find it obvious at all. What I do find obvious is the cloud of smug emanating from your post. Makes you sound like a bit of a twat

FlabberMcBlasted · 29/01/2020 19:07

Utter horse shit.

HorseFlyOfExtraordinaryLength · 29/01/2020 19:12

I found it hard to understand when MBB won but then y'know different strokes.....etc
