Aibu to laugh till I cry?

How normal is it to laugh till you cry? Not just damp eyes, I mean tears rolling down face. I did today and the people I was with seemed quite startled! I don’t see others doing this much, am I weird?

YANBU= It’s fine.
YABU= It’s weird.

Normal, yes - common, no. (Not for me at least!)

pigsDOfly · 28/01/2020 19:47

I used to quite often, although not any more.

Not sure if I was more easily amused when I was younger, or my life is now less amusing.

Bit of both, I suspect.

BohoBunney · 28/01/2020 19:48

I don’t think that’s ever happened for me. I’ve been on the verge of passing out as I can’t stop laughing to breathe though Grin I think teats are normal (though not common as PP said)

Chelsea26 · 28/01/2020 20:11

My mum, my sister and I all do this at the slightest giggle - it can be quite annoying! If we all go out together we end up looking awful with no make up left!

Even worse - I don’t make any noise when I laugh so basically I am silently crying with my mouth open and occasionally taking big gasps of air!

I’ve heard of unattractive crying, but unattractive laughing is another matter!

DodgeRainClouds · 28/01/2020 20:15

I do this! My friends and family think it’s hilarious and make me laugh/cry even more

StillCoughingandLaughing · 28/01/2020 20:17

I can’t say I book in a weekly slot to do it, but yes, I have laughed until I cried.

Rockingthestocking · 28/01/2020 20:18

I love it when this happens. It's relatively rare for me, maybe 5 or 6 times a year. It's normally with DD11 or my mum, and occasionally but more rare with DH.
I have had it at work on a couple of occasions, and that's not so good as it's when I shouldn't be laughing...a bit like when you were at school and had to be quiet in assembly and get the giggles. It's very difficult to stop, it's out of my control. I think that's why I like it so much as it's so natural.

StarspaXxX · 28/01/2020 20:20

Yep. DH and I are awful for this. It doesn't happen often, but when we're both set off we're Muttley-wheezing and snorting and streaming uncontrollably...

It's very attractive.

Letsdoanamechangeagain · 28/01/2020 20:20

It's normal, but happens very rarely (for me anyway) I wish it happened more often

El2El · 28/01/2020 20:22

My dad and I do this. I think he's quite proud to have passed it on to me. People ALWAYS commented on it when I was younger so think it mustn't be all that common.

lucky2020 · 28/01/2020 20:31

I do this and like PP got so many comments when I was younger I used to be a bit embarrassed about it!!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 28/01/2020 20:34

I did this the other day when reading auto-correct fails and looking at pinterest fails. I was on my own in my living room though!

Youcunnyfunt · 28/01/2020 20:55

Yes it’s normal. It’s like the best laugh ever when it happens! A proper tickler

AmelieTaylor · 28/01/2020 20:57

Enjoy it.

I can’t remember the last time anything made me properly laugh and for ages now I just end up coughing & spluttering....

Lilyamna · 28/01/2020 21:03

I’m glad I’m not on my own and there are more tearful laughers out there!Grin

Bubblysqueak · 28/01/2020 21:05

Unfortunately my eyes stream at the slightest chuckle, it very embarrassing which makes my eyes water even more and I go very red.

PutYourLipsTogetherAndBlow · 28/01/2020 21:07

I’ve done this several times today reading the “benefits” thread and “weird neighbour parking outside house” thread! If something tickles me that’s it - I’m gone!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 28/01/2020 21:12

I did just now at 'Cow Sieve', actually... My teenage sons were only slightly alarmed (they're used to it)

StarspaXxX · 28/01/2020 22:00

PutYourLipsTogetherAndBlow can I trouble you for links? Could do with a giggle!

PutYourLipsTogetherAndBlow · 28/01/2020 22:02

I’m afraid the benefits threads were deleted! I’m sure “creepy neighbour sitting outside in car” is still on active though, put it in your search I don’t know how to do a link sorry!

StarspaXxX · 28/01/2020 22:03

Ta muchly!

StarspaXxX · 28/01/2020 22:08

No useful hits Sad

Michaelbaubles · 28/01/2020 22:11

I do it and it’s the worst if something unexpectedly tickles me, like once I was in the pub with DP and his dad, and his dad was talking about bees, and how it’s amazing they manage to do everything they do “and they don’t even have any hands”. I just snorted so loud and started crying with laughter, it was the serious way he said it or something, I don’t even know! Anyway I was red with tears streaming and everyone else looking at me like I was mad.

PutYourLipsTogetherAndBlow · 28/01/2020 22:29

starspa - I’ve just had a look and it seems “creepy neighbour” thread has been deleted also! It was a bit of a ridiculous drip feed but it was the posters responses that had me crying with laughter!

livefornaps · 28/01/2020 22:31

Omg I laugh til i cry on mumsnet all the live long day
