How normal is it to laugh till you cry? Not just damp eyes, I mean tears rolling down face. I did today and the people I was with seemed quite startled! I don’t see others doing this much, am I weird?

YANBU= It’s fine.
YABU= It’s weird.

If I don't actually cry when I'm properly laughing, people who know me well/have put up with me for far too long think there's something wrong.

One of my best mates and I got a complete fit of giggles a while back. Even just remembering how hard we laughed sets me off again, and yep, tears flow as I do the washing up thinking of it

Yep - all the time!
I am the only one in the family to do it - although I have seen my DH's eyes fill with tears, but they never roll down his face.
I also do the Mutley-Wheezy laugh and the one where I laugh SO hard that no sound comes out!
And the one that gives your abs a good workout!
Can't beat a good belly laugh!

I cry with laughter often, to the point where I'm doubled up gasping. 😂
Which often sets the husband and kids / grandkids off.

Ditto the muttley @Lovesabadboy 😂

There’s only two things that make me cry from laughing. 1) Bill Bailey and 2) the scene in Hot Chick where the main character stubs his toe after a pillow fight ... I’ve been watching that film since I was 15 and it still reduces me to tears Confused

@Lilyamna I LOVE laughing til I cry. I mean really PMSL! Grin

I was playing Cards Against Humanity with DH, our 2 adult DC, and their partners last night, and a few of the answers were priceless. Laughed til I cried.

I could hardly breathe for 5 minutes at one point. After the (2 hour) game, I felt so exhilarated, and on a high... and really happy. Grin

It really is true that laughter is the best medicine. Smile

I always cry when I laugh. But then I even cry at ABBA.

My DS set me off this evening at bedtime. He's 8 and we were talking about jokes. He looked at me and said 'your favourite is the pig one isn't it?' I looked at him perplexed that he knew the pig joke that I love (What's pink and hard? A pig with a flick knife).
Then he said... What happens when pigs fly? The price of bacon goes up.

I was gone. For about five minutes I couldn't move. And yes there were tears.

But then I find the silliest things funny and once I get going, I can't stop.

Yep I do it, most memorably (and shamefully) at my DGM's funeral. My stomach rumbled really loudly during the service and I made the stupid mistake of making eye contact with my DB who was sitting next to me. His lip twitched and we both knew we had to fight it but that just made it worse, I just hope we managed to make it look like the other kind of crying Blush We both adored DGM I might add, and she was the worlds worst for laughing at inappropriate moments so I like to think she would have forgiven us.

It's usually one liners that set me off.
A very long time ago, someone was telling me how she had struggled to get her toddler daughters tights on and in frustration she yanked them up hard, almost up to her armpits.
Her husband simply said ' she looked like a blonde haired maggot'
I laughed so hard at his description, I was in danger of asphyxiation I swear 😂

Dita73 · 29/01/2020 02:24

I thought it was just a normal thing. All my family and my husband’s family do it. It’s the best feeling!

I think the last MN thread that set me off that badly was one with stories about OHs. Can't for the life of me remember what the theme was...?! Habits? Ridiculous injuries?
