I mean ffs... some of the things people are getting wound up about when there are actual serious problems in the world? prepares to be flamed

OP posts:
AutumnCrow · 26/01/2020 17:47

What, like this one?

RalphWiggumsWedgie · 26/01/2020 17:47

F*cking winds me right up. Why don't you just say 'fucking' ffs?

Batshit and neurotic might equally be applied to a mistaken belief that a * in any way disguises the word you are too scared to say!

Sparklingbrook · 26/01/2020 17:48

Ones in AIBU are -definitely.

Limensoda · 26/01/2020 17:48

You are absolutely right but they are often hilarious. Makes me feel normal....so I'm not knocking it.Grin

TheRealShatParp · 26/01/2020 17:50

You’re probably right, but they don’t half make me laugh.

littlepaddypaws · 26/01/2020 17:51

no wonder the title of snowflake came into being although i don't always agree with it.
some people on here are in danger of melting thoughif they go outin the rainbut for the best part i agree with you op.

Winterwoollies · 26/01/2020 17:52

They’re the ones that are fun to read! Those and the MIL and awful DP/DH ones.

Though I do feel like so many of them are just made-up bullshit. Where are all the people with the true neuroses about bizarre things?!

NumbersStation · 26/01/2020 17:52

Threads or people posting OP?

Tink2007 · 26/01/2020 17:53

Sometimes I read them and think “Fucking hell, you’re just creating an issue for the sake of creating one”.

Particularly one thread I have just read.

saraclara · 26/01/2020 17:55

Sometimes it's nice to realise I'm actually fairly normal. Other times it's almost scary to see how many people are irrational.

On the whole, it's probably good to be made aware that I live in a bubble, and that people like that are actually out there.

(Of course there are some lovely, rational and sensible MNers, but it is somewhat disconcerting how many people aren't)

bsc · 26/01/2020 17:55

I think about 70% of aibu is completely made up tbh.

Kanga83 · 26/01/2020 17:57

Most of AIBU is made up crap to fill some void/need for attention. It always amazes me how threads on those can fill so quickly.

recrudescence · 26/01/2020 17:57

Some people here do have the sort of ‘problems’ that suggest they have rather too much time on their hands.

Sparklingbrook · 26/01/2020 17:57

This sums up most threads in AIBU

followingonfromthat · 26/01/2020 18:04

Serious world problems are all very well and we can be concerned in the abstract about those, but we can't necessarily actually do anything about them.

Somewhat less global issues that affect you on an immediate personal level are another kettle of fish altogether. Why shouldn't people post about them if they want/need to?

Poppinjay · 26/01/2020 18:16

So, if you meet up with friends for a coffee, what do you talk about? Do you limit yourselves to major world issues?

DisasterMagnet · 26/01/2020 18:17

@Tink2007 exactly what I was going to say 😂

crispysausagerolls · 26/01/2020 18:20

You need to list a few examples...

DesLynamsMoustache · 26/01/2020 18:21

YANBU in the sense that it amazes me the things people take offence at and the number of people who seem determined to pick fault and assume the worse of friends and family.

DeeZastris · 26/01/2020 18:22

If you don’t like mumsnet there are other websites to hang out on.

MintySpud · 26/01/2020 18:24

Sparkling, you are nicer than me. I would have plumped for a lovely picture of horse manure.

lazylinguist · 26/01/2020 18:26

People like to discuss things and get stuff off their chest. It's a chat forum. Serious problems going on in the world do not stop people from being concerned with small or random stuff in their own lives. And MN has a broad membership- not everyone is like you. I can't see how any of that is remotely surprising really. Besides, life would be very dull without the batshittery.

TeenPlusTwenties · 26/01/2020 18:27

Well, the maths one running at the moment is weird, but I'm enjoying arguing with stupid whether or not its a wind up.

Sparklingbrook · 26/01/2020 18:27

How about this @MintySpud?

To think a lot of MN threads are quite frankly neurotic at best and f*cking Batshit at worst?!
iklboo · 26/01/2020 18:30

There are serious problems in the world, yes. But - say - between my mum being ill and the Australian bush fires I know which one is giving me more sleepless nights.
