Sometimes I read them and think “Fucking hell, you’re just creating an issue for the sake of creating one”.

Particularly one thread I have just read.

Sometimes it's nice to realise I'm actually fairly normal. Other times it's almost scary to see how many people are irrational.

On the whole, it's probably good to be made aware that I live in a bubble, and that people like that are actually out there.

(Of course there are some lovely, rational and sensible MNers, but it is somewhat disconcerting how many people aren't)

I think about 70% of aibu is completely made up tbh.

Most of AIBU is made up crap to fill some void/need for attention. It always amazes me how threads on those can fill so quickly.

Some people here do have the sort of ‘problems’ that suggest they have rather too much time on their hands.

Serious world problems are all very well and we can be concerned in the abstract about those, but we can't necessarily actually do anything about them.

Somewhat less global issues that affect you on an immediate personal level are another kettle of fish altogether. Why shouldn't people post about them if they want/need to?

So, if you meet up with friends for a coffee, what do you talk about? Do you limit yourselves to major world issues?

YANBU in the sense that it amazes me the things people take offence at and the number of people who seem determined to pick fault and assume the worse of friends and family.

If you don’t like mumsnet there are other websites to hang out on.

People like to discuss things and get stuff off their chest. It's a chat forum. Serious problems going on in the world do not stop people from being concerned with small or random stuff in their own lives. And MN has a broad membership- not everyone is like you. I can't see how any of that is remotely surprising really. Besides, life would be very dull without the batshittery.

Well, the maths one running at the moment is weird, but I'm enjoying arguing with stupid whether or not its a wind up.
