AIBU to be annoyed Justin is on CBeebies all the sodding time

We don't even have the tele on that much, just occasionally at weekends and every time I put it on it seems like it's Justin, in one guise or another. I find him intensely irritating and DS isn't interested. (Yes, we do change channel). Why is he there all the fucking time? (Sorry for the language, need to vent and can't swear out loud !)

But Justin’s House is shit, but I’m not their target audience 🤣

Kanga83 · 26/01/2020 23:02

I'm with you OP. He's everywhere. I'll allow something special as it was a leap in children's tv.

While on the subject of everywhere and cbeebies, can the powers that be not get someone other than Cat to be the lead in pantos? They are all so samey. I love the thumbelina one because she wasn't in it (because she was sick).

BillyAndTheSillies · 26/01/2020 23:10

Yes!!! PP just mentioned Zap, that's exactly what Gigglebiz reminded me of.

We love Justin. I can't stand Justin's House but everything else is fine by me. DS(3) went to sing and sign classes and would sign along with Something Special. Gigglebiz cracks him up, he's actually only just noticed all of the characters are played by Justin.

Embarrassingly, I also know if Something Special is on I have time to run to the loo or sort some laundry because four month old DS2 is transfixed by it.

He just comes across as lovely and genuine and actually caring about children rather than just a pay cheque.

Bipbipbipbip · 26/01/2020 23:13

Something Special is brilliant, DS loves it, I do find I get the odd watery eye watching it sometimes.

Justin's House is bloody awful.

Alwaysrainsonme · 26/01/2020 23:22

I didn’t like him until he was in panto and came out after to meet some of the tots at the stage door. He was genuinely really lovely, even when the cameras weren’t rolling.

Mr Bloom couldn’t be arsed to come out, even though he knew little kids were waiting hopefully. Some of the crew went in to persuade him to say hello, but couldn’t get him out.

NannyPear · 26/01/2020 23:23

@cryingoverspilttea Andy is a firm favourite in our house too.

DS isn't a huge Justin fan, but, if anything, he does enjoy Something Special and is starting to sign with him which is fantastic.

I wish CBeebies would stop showing Peter Rabbit. DS got scared by Mr McGregor and the badger a couple of times so now I need to turn it over to either Nickelodeon or Cartoonito when it's on and deal with whatever rubbish is on there for however long it takes for him to let me chance it back to CBeebies. At least with that channel you don't have to watch the same show on repeat for too long.

Whyismycatanasshat · 27/01/2020 00:56

I worked for an educational tv production company about a decade ago, that Justin was also working for; he worked so hard to get everything pitched just right it was admirable; however I found him hard workA wee bit arrogant.

That said my nephew loves everything Justin; I find gigglequiz is my preferred Justin viewing, except for Geordie Keith. That’s just a weird Kevin Keegan stereotype that died out years ago; I’m not even sure the parents watching would get the joke.

Daftodil · 27/01/2020 08:41

Is Robert the robot (from Justin's House) Judge Rinder?

Ncjusthere · 27/01/2020 09:05

DS loves him so much we've booked to see Justin at butlins. I also love him and DS has signed before he's said a few words thanks to something special

FrauleinF · 27/01/2020 09:47

Robert Rinder vs Robert the Robot

Spooky. Obviously paints himself silver and cracks a smile as soon as he gets out of court. They even have the same first name, so case closed, surely?

Emmelina · 27/01/2020 09:50

My youngest is almost 7, so we’ve not had CBeebies on for years. He was all over it then.

I clicked on CBeebies on the planner at the weekend by accident, and it was Mister Sodding Tumble.

Don’t get me wrong, the makaton was fantastic when all three of mine were tiny, but. ARGH.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 27/01/2020 10:49

Guys, Robert the Robot isn’t from Barnet so he and Judge Rinder can’t possibly be the same person Sad

Kanga83 · 27/01/2020 11:51

Oh my goodness, I know Robert Rinder professionally. I have to show him that uncanny likeness!

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 27/01/2020 12:10

@Kanga83

Is he drily amusing in real life too ?

Notonthestairs · 27/01/2020 12:15

We love Justin. It is still extraordinary and wonderful to see disabled children featured on TV. My DD (learning difficulties, ASD) always asks to watch him, particularly on a rough days. His programmes make her roar with laughter.

Urkiddingright · 27/01/2020 12:17

I just pick and choose certain programmes on iplayer to show DS so I avoid all the naff ones. I didn’t mind Something Special when my older DC were toddlers but he seemed to make about 25 other programmes after that which grated on me a bit.

hiphiphoorayback · 27/01/2020 12:18

YANBU my DC are older now but I stopped my DC watching CBebbies because of Justin. I hated every programme he was in. It was all so dated and odd, especially the one where he dresses up. It reminded me of Kenny Everett.

Kanga83 · 27/01/2020 12:56

@Whentherabbits - yes, he is utterly brilliant as a barrister, really thorough and to the point but humour wise is dry, catty and witty. He's rather marmite but I think he's great.

OneForMeToo · 27/01/2020 13:26

Can’t stand Justin. CBeebies is banned in our house as it’s basically just the Justin show alll day Longgggg.

I used to like Mr bloom and Andys adventures on there, but now we just Netflix/Prime all our tv.

20viona · 27/01/2020 13:26

Can't stand the bloke.

Justjoinedforthis · 27/01/2020 13:31

Justin is fine, but I'm more into Andy myself...I have the feeling in his downtime he's actually quite punky!

LutherRalph1 · 27/01/2020 13:33

I've developed a bit of a soft spot for Ben from CBeebies house...

DinoGreen · 27/01/2020 15:03

I never used to be a huge fan of Justin until we saw him in panto - he was brilliant. Now we go every year. I quite like his programmes and DS (nearly 4) does too.

SERLIN2020 · 27/01/2020 18:51

No food is wasted in pies as they are made of shaving foam!!

SERLIN2020 · 27/01/2020 18:52

Andy is a Dad now so unlikely.
