It's pay day for me.

WTAFFF · 26/01/2020 08:59

I haven’t forgotten about it. I know I will be sad but it’s inevitable now isn’t it?

slipperywhensparticus · 26/01/2020 09:00

Cant change it

JustDanceAddict · 26/01/2020 09:01

I haven’t forgotten either but it’s a fait accompli now.
I’m sad but I hope that now it’s happening, it won’t be as disastrous as feared.

Nonnymum · 26/01/2020 09:01

I've certainly not forgotten I'm just trying to pretend it's not happening and telling myself that nothing will change until after the transition period anyway. I'm still very depressed about it though and thnk it's the biggest mistake the UK has made in my lifetime

Jackrusselsarecute · 26/01/2020 09:01

I think that the whole Sussex debacle has taken over the press rather than Brexit. Crazy when you consider the apocalypse type warnings we had over the previous dates... I'm a remainder and feel very sad about it but for the stability of our country feel it now needs to be done

JassyRadlett · 26/01/2020 09:06

Not really, difference between leaving with a deal and leaving with no deal.

I suspect many remainers are not planning to mark it in any particular way and making space for those desperate for a Festival of Triumphalist Nose-Rubbing to do their best to sow further division.

MasakaBuzz · 26/01/2020 09:06

I haven’t forgotten about it. I have arranged to pop down to a friends, and we are going to have several glasses of wine and celebrate.

I am having a generally shit time at the moment, so the knowledge we are finally leaving the corrupt, self serving, undemocratic E.U. is one bright spot.

No I am not being sarcastic, and yes I am a Brexiteer.

Ducks and runs for cover........!!!

crankysaurus · 26/01/2020 09:08

I haven't forgotten, fully intend to get quietly mashed on French wine.

Lordfrontpaw · 26/01/2020 09:08

I’m just looking out for the new 50p coins. That’s about the only ‘good’ thing.

I’m not expecting the grass to be greener, and for there to be bluebirds over the white cliffs of Dover...

OddBoots · 26/01/2020 09:08

Mainly because the shitcan has been kicked down the road to the end of the year when transition arrangements end.

ChangedToday · 26/01/2020 09:09

No hysteria, because we enter transition period, no changes yet to borders and legislation. We might revisit hysteria next December, depending on how negotiations go this year... Definitely not forgotten.

crankysaurus · 26/01/2020 09:09

I'm also going to quietly swear about brexiteers as I work my way through my wine.

ZenNudist · 26/01/2020 09:10

Remainer here. Haven't forgotten. Still think its a mistake. Pretty sure we will be back at 11th hour scramble with the EU this time next year. Stupid is as stupid does. It will not end well.

bananaontoast1 · 26/01/2020 09:10

I'm trying to forget it's happening. I've not watched/read the news since the election, and as far as I'm concerned the Brexiteers who allegedly definitely knew what they were voting for can reap what they sow. So long as my family are okay, I don't care what happens anymore. I was mocked for 3 years for caring, so sod them all.

QueenofLouisiana · 26/01/2020 09:12

I’d write word for word what@Nonnymum said.

Lionsleepstonight · 26/01/2020 09:12

Op, im with you. I thought they'd be much more in the news.
And also on MN. Where are all the 'I'm moving to France / How can I get an Irish passport' posts?
Maybe they are being saved for Friday when we'll see a raft of 'I hope you're happy / The county is fucked' posts.....

I just hope it dosnt turn as nasty on MN like it did when JC lost the election.

stinkycat101 · 26/01/2020 09:13

Not forgotten, but what's the point of thinking about it now? It's game over, we're leaving. Anyone who thinks that the Tories have achieved "get Brexit done" on Friday is utterly deluded as that will be the start of years of working out what the fuck happens next. Still no one has been able to set out exactly how we'll be better off outside the EU. I've seen nothing to suggest my life, that of my kids, and of everyone else in the UK will be improved by it. Nothing at all. So best to let Friday quietly pass.

Pencilplantironingboard · 26/01/2020 09:14

It's a disaster. I'm appalled. I think a lot less of brexiteers even the friends of mine who voted for it and regret it. You voted for it so own it.
I think that somehow they will manage to blame remainers if it goes tits up.
I think that brexiteers are appalling and all the hardened ones are unpleasant racists. I am resigned to it but still heartbroken.
We're fucked. I intend to delete all the news apps from my phone, all social media and avoid all news or live TV for at least a week.
There is nothing to be done. The vile racists have won.
There is no point arguing at this point because none of them can justify the decision in a sane way. When they harp on about fishing quotas and other BS I just despair.
I hope they all have a great day in their union jack outfits talked about how great we had it during the blitz. Absolute tools.

MsVestibule · 26/01/2020 09:14

Of course we haven't forgotten! Anybody (from either camp) who's followed the news knows it's happening. It's just that 31 Jan is nothing to get excited about. It's when the shit hits the fan later down the line that we'll be taking more notice. Although as a remainer, nothing would give me greater pleasure than to be proved wrong.

Noodlenosefraggle · 26/01/2020 09:15

This is exactly how I feel.

SimonJT · 26/01/2020 09:16

Definitely not forgotten here, my boyfriend is a citizen of an EU country (not the UK) and his application for the EU settlement scheme still hasn’t been processed despite applying in August.

He has major surgery coming up in his home country, he wanted to use the specialist who has been treating him since childhood. But the recovery time if everything goes well is lengthy so he can’t risk being outside of the UK for that long.

The NHS waiting list to even be considered for the surgery is around 14 months, the wait to then have surgery is around 8 months due to a lack of specialists. If it fails the NHS won’t provide further treatment, where as his home country would then carry out another procedure that has a very high success rate.

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/01/2020 09:16

I haven’t forgotten. But there’s sod all I can do now. Firm Remainer here. I doubt we will feel the real repercussions for a while yet so I will make do by quietly cursing idiot leave voters and watching the shit storm when it starts to happen...

FamilyOfAliens · 26/01/2020 09:18

I’m just looking out for the new 50p coins. That’s about the only ‘good’ thing.

You think commemorating this shit show with a specially minted coin is a “good thing”?

Jesus Christ.

stinkycat101 · 26/01/2020 09:18

@MasakaBuzz apart from feeling happy that we'll no longer be in the "Undemocratic EU", what positive changes do you actually expect to see? How will your life be better on Saturday (or in a year's time) than on Thursday? What are you celebrating?
