They cant call their house this?

I have just been to visit my Aunt and Uncle, both early 80s, very quiet living couple.
They live in a culture de sac of other retired folks.
They have put up a sign on the gatepost at the end of their drive.
They proudly made it themselves.
The house is now named "Belle End"
Do I tell them?? Blush

I think I’d mention it to them, just in case they don’t know.

My mums in her 60s so I’ve just text her to ask if she knows what it means. She’s gunna be so bloody confused why I’ve asked her though.

And in breaking news.... older people have a sense of humour...

They know.

Some WI presidents have a sense of humour. I'm sure some Lay preachers do too.

If it helps I am 72 and a lay preacher in my church and I know what a Bell End is

2020bluegirl, doesn't matter to me if you believe me or not but if the council in Rowley Regis can use the name, why is it so wholly unbelievable that my Aunt has also done so?
I will get my DMum to have a chat with her, although I have to admit to half wanting to leave it to give others a smile.

I am really hating this trend to turn ordinary words which people have used for years to be turned into something with sexual or body parts meanings. I have never heard of some of the terms used on here but when resorting to looking them up, some are truly disgusting and debasing our language.

This has actually really cheered me up after a not very nice day! Let them keep it as it will make people laugh. Not at them it will just make people smile. Dont mention it to them other than to say you love the sign

House names and street names are bizarre. I'm struggling with new builds round here on streets called Bluebell Drive (no bluebells any more after they cleared the woods) and Snowdrop Close (ditto). Or those named after local planning officers or their wives or husbands or councillors. Brian Browning Close (sorry to any Brian Browning) - just why? Palm Close with one dying palm in NE England?

There's a house nearby to me called Jack's Never Inn. I'm guessing he has difficult family members...or is in debt?!

If it's anything like Gaelic, calling your house "The Wee House", means the loo/bog/toilet/latrine...

Belle end is entirely appropriate at the cul d’un sac.

I'm in my 60s and I do know it, but honestly have only done so for a few years and I think that's because I'm on social media!

My DPs in their 80's would not have had a clue !

A Ty bach was an outhouse, as in an outside toilet.
