To sell tickets I got for 10p for considerably more?

Managed to get train tickets in the 10p sale for a seaside town.
Full value is £75.
I paid 80p.

I could never afford full price train fare so thought it would be nice day out for kids.
Tickets are set trains.

Just been reminded by family member that we have a birthday party that day. Completely forgot :(

Would I be unreasonable to sell them for half RRP?

So £37.50

That way I get half the real RRP so I can save another 37.50 and rebook at full price another day and someone else still gets half price tickets.

Why sell them for half price? Ask for £10 off the RRP or nearest offer - it’s still a bargain.

I got 3 sets and at one point thought I wasn’t going to be able to use them and was considering leaving them on the ticket machine for someone to find but then thought I’d be annoyed if someone then sold them!

They do the 10p sale a few times a year though. We got some in November too.

Yes half the RRP sounds reasonable, and maybe reduce the price nearer the time if they haven't sold. I wouldn't ask for any more than that though as people would rather book direct if they aren't getting a big saving.

I would put them on for more and then reduce to lower if they’ve not sold nearer to the time

If it did I would live in a mansion. People won’t give me their houses for £2000 even though that’s what they paid in 1970.
OP what you paid is nothing to do with this. You sell for what you can. So start with £10 off RRP as someone above suggested.

Also I’ve never heard of this sale- sounds amazing!

YANBU but be aware that the conditions of carriage prevent train tickets from being sold on, so it's unlikely they could be listed on any selling sites without being taken down.

Are they in your name OP? If so you might find they are non transferable if checked by a ticket officer and I'm not sure they can legally be sold on a lot of selling sites.

If not by all means sell them if you can but as there are often discounts on train tickets I would only expect to sell them for quite a bit less than 'RRP'- it's much less expensive to travel at off peak times anyway, saver rates are cheap too lots of people have railcard so can get it cheaper, an exact date isn't likely to suit most people etc. I'd personally give them away, I think.

What 10p Train sale is this and why have I never heard of it? I'm a pretty good bargain hunter but this has passed me by.....

Of course sell them, offer them for whatever you think you can make.

Train tickets just don't have an RRP, though, and people know that you can buy them at all kinds of different prices depending when and how you book. I think people would assume this was a scam.

Unless you have a friend who knows you who would be happy to make you an offer somewhere between what you paid and what they would have to pay now, I think YABU.

Not much inflation in train tickets over the week. Very poor analogy.

If there are a limited number of 10p tickets it’s really shitty to buy them when you know you won’t be able to use them then scalp them for full price.

As someone else has pointed out, it’s illegal to sell on train tickets so it’s going to be hard to promote these at any price.

Northern rail 10p sale. I’m guessing if you aren’t normally a northern rail passenger it won’t interest you as you’d have to travel to get to a northern rail station. It’s any route on the northern rail network for 10p.

To be fair, 10p is probably what you'd have paid when their current rolling stock was first brought out!

We were promised lots of shiny new trains. What have we got where I live? Sodding Pacers. Sad
