Is this ok?
He's a friend too and I thought nothing of it. Now worried she thinks I was flirting.
It was about the suit honest!

I'd reply underneath with 'yikes, just realised my last comment looks well creepy! Not my intention (laughing emoji!)

confusedrn · 24/01/2020 18:47

Ah, see I would do this! Depends on the friend but most of my friends would find it funny. And I would also see the funny/light hearted side if they did the same on a photo of my DH.

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 24/01/2020 18:48

Jesus fucking christ no no no no no no no no no no no

Is that enough of an answer for you?

JacquesHammer · 24/01/2020 18:48

Depends on the relationship.

That said I wouldn’t care if someone had found my then husband hot, I would have agreed Grin

Changeofname79 · 24/01/2020 18:49

Depends on how close you are with both of them. I am in my 40s and our close friendship group would do this to each others DHs/DWs definitely and not think anything of it. We would say it in RL too (we're not swingers I promise!)

Snog · 24/01/2020 18:49

Maybs you didn't mean it as "you are hot" but evidently a good 50% of mumsnetters would interpret it that way.

Deadliestlampshade · 24/01/2020 18:49

Completely depends on the friendship. I would do so for a few friends that I’ve known as couples for 20 years for instance.

However, now I’m single I’m really careful about it in case it’s misinterpreted

Maskedsingeroctopus · 24/01/2020 18:51

It means you think he's hot. Ffs

puds11 · 24/01/2020 18:52

@Tealnotbluemum if you meant it about the suit why are you even worrying about it?

Me and my friends do it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Some of us are married to some hotties, luckily none of us are half as up tight as mumsnet over a flame emoji 🔥🔥 🔥

LEELULUMPKIN · 24/01/2020 18:54

I'm coming at this as someone who is not on FB and the only emoji I have ever used is a smiley face.

I am also nearing my fifth decade so very well not be "with it" but to me it would mean that you thought the bloke was "hot".

Therefore, unless you are in a relationship with that person, it's a "No" from me OP, sorry.

CalleighDoodle · 24/01/2020 18:56

My son said it meant a bbq

He thinks youre snooping and he wants you off the scent of who he fancies.

Elbeagle · 24/01/2020 18:57

I wouldn’t do this I don’t think, but I wouldn’t be bothered if one of my friends did it to one of DH’s pictures. I’m pretty sure none of them actually fancy him and it would just be a compliment!

titchy · 24/01/2020 18:57

It's the opinion of anyone under 35, I promise. Nobody ever uses fire to mean hot.

I'd better tell my 20 year old her and her friends have got it wrong then Hmm

Crazycatperson · 24/01/2020 18:57

Sounds like you're a great friend. Well done. That's you never to be trusted around your mates' fellas

npowerarebastards · 24/01/2020 18:59

I really wouldn't care if one of my friends did this.

titchy · 24/01/2020 18:59

My son said it meant a bbq

Grin
bushhbb · 24/01/2020 19:00

@titchy

Well, I guess some are more territorial than others, but it wouldn't bother me. Maybe you're from a different area and have different slang, but I'm 19, and where I live 🔥 literally means 'fire'.

PityParty4one · 24/01/2020 19:05

It wouldn't bother me as such but at the same time I would not do it as its disrespectful to my friend and her DH.

In truth I think you were flirting and you know it.

HaveeeeYouMetTed · 24/01/2020 19:09

Highly inappropriate.

And don't come to AIBU to ask for people opinions & then get defensive.

Pukkatea · 24/01/2020 19:10

I would never comment the flame emoji to flirt or say someone was hot if I actually thought so. God how embarrassing would that be. It's a jokey emoji, like 'wahey, looking good!'. Absolutely tons of people use it in a jokey way with their friends.

Walnutwhipster · 24/01/2020 19:15

Ok, go on FB or any social media and say a guy you know put it on your photo and ask what it means. Then you'll have your answer but I'm guessing you already know it's inappropriate.

KundaliniRising · 24/01/2020 19:18

Eh? Why would you do that?

OneForMeToo · 24/01/2020 19:38

I’d be asking questions tbh. It literally means you think their hot/smoking hot. You’ve posted that on a married mans picture. So cringe. You might find your self out of the picture friendship wise or being given a very very large side eye and monitored.
