Is this ok?
He's a friend too and I thought nothing of it. Now worried she thinks I was flirting.
It was about the suit honest!

Inappropriate

GallusAlice79 · 24/01/2020 18:30

I have a large friend group with many couples in it, and most females in the group would do a similar thing to another guy in the group...whether he was single or otherwise. And a lot of the guys would say similar to another female, single or otherwise. Different types of people, we are all very good friends, go on holidays together, used to do festivals and clubbing. Really not an issue in our group at all.

Amrapaali · 24/01/2020 18:30

The exact emoji is a moot point. What I am thinking is why comment at all? Unless he is a personal firned and not just a friends partner...

Even with a friend I tease gently as in "Ooh look at you all dressed up! How long did it take to get ready? Did you start at crack of dawn?" Something inane like that...

Proper "lookong good" compliments reserved for close male relatives (dad, husband) or my grilfriends

CalmFizz · 24/01/2020 18:31

Did you actually write any comment to accompany it, or just a stand alone emoji?

I think you could have got away with it I feel you'd said Something like, That suit!emoji

Bipbipbipbip · 24/01/2020 18:32

Unless he is literally on fire, it's a no.

GruciusMalfoy · 24/01/2020 18:32

Oh no, you don't do that 😂

DeathByPuppy · 24/01/2020 18:33

No.

  1. It’s flirty.
  2. It’s what teenagers do.
DustOffYourHighestHopes · 24/01/2020 18:34

This would only be acceptable in a particular group of friends of mine where we all are very settled in our couples, known each other for decades, take the piss constantly and treat each others’ partners like annoying siblings.

amaryl · 24/01/2020 18:34

Flame emoji 🔥 ???
I am so out of touch

Lilyrose15 · 24/01/2020 18:36

Lol did you just put the flame?😂 I think you should have given it more context like “that suit is 🔥 “.

AsleepAllDay · 24/01/2020 18:36

@amaryl you send it to someone when you think they look 'hot'

hazeydays14 · 24/01/2020 18:37

I’m in my 20s and probably only ever comment 🔥 if my friends have made the effort for a night out/date night/dressed up
It definitely means you look hot to people under 35 too 😂
I can’t imagine a situation where I would comment that on my friends husbands picture unless she was in it too

2monstermash · 24/01/2020 18:37

I would in my group but we are all a bit flirty and big each other up in that way in real life, so it would be normal. If you are second guessing yourself perhaps it a bit too flirty. I don't think theres major harm done though

BofaDeeznutz · 24/01/2020 18:37

If a friend commented with the fire emoji on a photo of my husband, I'd assume they were taking the piss and I'd find it funny.

longestlurkerever · 24/01/2020 18:37

Obviously in the minority but i can't imagine getting worked up about this. People comment "hot" on female friends' photos and it's just a silly compliment, not flirtatious. Assuming you're all friends i would just assume the same intent and laugh.

Sunflower20 · 24/01/2020 18:38

It's fine if you're very close to them both, but the fire emoji really does mean 'you're fire', 'you look hot'.

Sparklesocks · 24/01/2020 18:39

Why!

FordPrefect42 · 24/01/2020 18:39

Aaaaaaargh yikes. Cringing for you.

Tunnocks34 · 24/01/2020 18:40

I would use it to my friend/sister to say they looked fire, they look good basically.

I wouldn’t comment it under another mans picture but I also don’t think I’d be particularly hung up if someone commented it on my own husbands picture

Jomarchsburntskirt · 24/01/2020 18:41

Inappropriate and flirty.

longestlurkerever · 24/01/2020 18:42

Actually i just looked back at a thread where i know someone commented "HOT" on someone's photo when they were featured in an industry magazine to see who it was. Sure enough it was a female friend commenting on another friend's husband but it was by no means flirty, just teasing him in a nice way to say we were proud!

DesLynamsMoustache · 24/01/2020 18:43

Yes, what Tunnocks said. I'm not sure I'd use it myself but I wouldn't care if a friend of mine used it on DH's picture! I'd just assume they were saying he looked sharp/good in it 🤷🏻‍♀️ Unless there is back story like you've been trying to steal him for 10 years, I can't imagine having the head space or inclination to get annoyed about something so silly.

mokapot · 24/01/2020 18:43

Huh? What’s a fire emoji? My son said it meant a bbq

PicsInRed · 24/01/2020 18:44

Stop the wide eyed "who me?" routine and take a big step away from the married man.

You're making a noise that his wife can hear. Apparently, so can a number of us.

Why are you asking AIBU. You seem to think you weren't. Did somebody tell you you were?
