Do you store chocolate in or out of the fridge?
I always keep my chocolate in the cupboard but DP likes it in the fridge. I’m right aren’t I?!

Fridge

TheGoatIsHere · 22/01/2020 20:39

I watched a TV program featuring a professional chocolate taster. They said out of the fridge and let the square melt somewhat in the mouth before properly scoffing. Something to do with releasing aromatics to enhance the flavour.

BestestBrownies · 22/01/2020 20:39

Depends on the chocolate really.

Good quality dark/cooking = cupboard
Decent milk/truffles etc = fridge
Anything from hotel chocolat, Cadbury et al = bin

Definitely the cupboard, there's no taste if it's been in the fridge.

JoyTurner · 22/01/2020 20:42

Cupboard! Or a mars bar in the microwave for 30 seconds Grin

lottiegarbanzo · 22/01/2020 20:44

Cupboard. I like to be able to taste it!

overnightangel · 22/01/2020 20:44

No chocolate bar I’m aware of says “best served chilled” so ‘fridge’ will always be the wrong answer

Hingeandbracket · 22/01/2020 20:44

Fridge ruins it and robs it of taste

sweeneytoddsrazor · 22/01/2020 20:45

It never ever makes it to either

BamboozledandBefuddled · 22/01/2020 20:46

Cupboard

Caramel78 · 22/01/2020 20:49

My reasoning for keeping out of the fridge is chocolate is always sold in supermarkets on shelves and not in the chilled cabinets. Whenever I’ve been to a fancy chocolatiers they always keep them out of the fridge too so surely they are meant to be eaten at room temp...
DP likes the choc to be cold and snap when he bites into it. I prefer it to be a softer meltier texture

I'm sure I've read that chocolate should be eaten at room temperature, so out.
Having said that, if you prefer to eat it straight out the fridge then there's nothing 'wrong' in doing that.
I prefer it at room temperature.

june2007 · 22/01/2020 20:55

I think it makes it go a funny colour in the fridge. I only do that if it,s a hot day and it would otherwise melt. (Such as at my work.)

Burntoutboobout · 22/01/2020 20:55

FRIDGE!

isittooearlyforgin · 22/01/2020 20:55

@Craiglang you animal! Cupboard defo

WorldEndingFire · 22/01/2020 20:57

Room temperature, and any chocolatier would tell you the same!

Oysterbabe · 22/01/2020 20:58

DH is wrong and keeps it in the fridge too. Since he smashes it down like a labrador I don't suppose it makes much difference.

WheresMyChocolate · 22/01/2020 21:00

People store chocolate? I thought it had to be eaten immediately.
