ChimDEY or chimLEY is another.
One of my personal favourites is 'Bombfire' Night 😂

stouffer · 22/01/2020 13:26

I know of people from a certain part of Scotland who talk about “Sangwiches”. I ask you. Fucking Sangwich.

AllideasAndNoAction · 22/01/2020 13:28

used I think there’s a world of difference between a regional/foreign accent causing pronunciation issues (very rude to comment or take the piss) and a person who has English as a first language not spelling it correctly.

I’ll wager crashed walawat has almost certainly been written phonetically by someone Indian/Asian or Middle Eastern, who speaks English as a second or third language and writes in a different alphabet altogether. They are trying to spell it out as they themselves would pronounce it. V sound like W when they speak English.

Let’s us try it in Urdu or Hindi or Arabic and see how far we get. 🤔

Wannabegreenfingers · 22/01/2020 13:30

There is nothing worse then the grammar police thinking they are superior......

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 22/01/2020 13:35

Sandals/ sandles
Pedals/peddles
Less/fewer

Random capital letters

I really don’t think that accent plays a big part in errors. I think it’s that people don’t feel that grammar, punctuation and spelling are important. I was recently looking at a current thread that has a mixture of shouting and little punctuation. I think it makes posts difficult to read.

Noideawhatusername · 22/01/2020 13:36

What is skellington meant to be?

AllideasAndNoAction · 22/01/2020 13:38

Was that deliberate Wannabe? 😂

MistyCloud · 22/01/2020 13:38

This thread is so funny! Grin

@Noideawhatusername Skellington = skeleton.

MistyCloud · 22/01/2020 13:42

Just leaving this here... Wink

'Warn once!!! Have two be seen!' Grin

Spied · 22/01/2020 13:43

I got slated for mentioning Chesterdraws on a baby name thread.
I did actually know it's not Chesterdraws however it's how it sounds in certain accents.
My friend however does actually think it's Walldrobe.

Beamur · 22/01/2020 13:44

My DD was chuckling yesterday at someone talking about 'dia beet tees'

Mayomaynot · 22/01/2020 13:44

Dr Martians? I love it! Grin

blubelle7 · 22/01/2020 13:44

Biscuitsandteaplease · 22/01/2020 13:45

'Are' instead of 'our' Angry

Nanny0gg · 22/01/2020 13:46

I'm being really thick here...

'Nevaeh' ?

katy1213 · 22/01/2020 13:46

Are you defiantly sure?

HazelBite · 22/01/2020 13:50

I've just read on another thread (talking about going to court to contest a will) "barristas" Grin

AnneOfCleavage · 22/01/2020 13:55

NannyOgg it's Heaven spelled backwards.

I actually thought Crashed Walwat was possibly Crushed Walnut but now velvet has been suggested I realise that makes more sense.

There's a similar thread going at the moment too which is funny.

Sh05 · 22/01/2020 13:56

44Bezalelle

I defiantly haven't seen that pacific word being used

Ds 1+2 have a teacher who says pecific. They tell me alot of the other teachers have started saying it like this too!

MaMisled · 22/01/2020 13:56

These " lacked toast and tolerant" Mums.........do you think they blame themselves for not offering enough toast, or, the child for not raising the issue and just accepting cereal?

Jayne35 · 22/01/2020 13:59

Most of the ones mentioned on here I have seen on facebook, the one annoying me the most at the moment is 'My hole world' over and over again with pics of kids, and this from an intelligent woman I went to school with (she was in all top sets back then). Also people who are forever loosing things Grin

Treaclepie19 · 22/01/2020 13:59

I probably sound like I'm saying Chester Drawers but that's my accent. I definitely wouldn't write it as that.

angieloumc · 22/01/2020 14:01

I know someone whose granddaughter's sounds like 'Neveah' but is spelt 'Nevayah'!

angieloumc · 22/01/2020 14:02

Granddaughter's name! I'm as bad 😂

Wherearemyminions · 22/01/2020 14:07

My all time favourite was a woman on a FB rant about being short of money, and not being able to "make hens meat"
