To ask you to smell your DP's breath?!

DP or whoever else you could possibly ask (since they'll think you are batshit!) and tell me what it smells like?!

I posted about my DH's breath months ago because I think it has a really distinct, noticeable odour (not bad as such, and not typical "bad breath", just a very specific smell) and nobody recognised it. In fact, google tells me I'm one of the only people in the world connecting a breath with this particular smell - when my OP googled it he found my thread!

So please... could you describe your DH's or another's? I'm actually a bit worried! He's been checked for diabetes and has no other known health problems. I'm breastfeeding so think my sense of smell is heightened but it's really noticeable to me when he's talking (but as I say it's not a "bad breath" smell)

DH googled it I mean

In the day, coffee. At night, bloody awful. He smokes and doesn't clean his teeth often enough

Whatever he's been eating or drinking most recently. Currently beer.

I’d keel over and die if I got within 1m of DH’s mouth - his breath is putrid.

I can tell my best friend from her breath if I was blindfolded

My dh always has nice breath
Even his morning breath is nice!!
My exh used to make me actually heave.
And I dumped my first serious bf for lack of dental hygiene....

It's gross. I'm pregnant though, it's usually ok (except sometimes in the mornings but I'm sure mines the same).

Nothingness? Just whatever he’s rated - sometimes it has a bit of sweet smell but then he’s vegan and eats a lot of fruit!

When you say gross though... could you describe it? What's the closest smell?

Ewww how do you lot put up with bad breath? It would make me gag!

I'm sure some people have diagnosed illnesses from smelling people's skin. I cant remember anymore than that. I have had a wine.

So many pps who have a partner with bad breath! Do you not tell him/her that it’s bad?!

Oh yes Parkinson's. But guessing this is unlikely.

I have a diabetic friend and his breath has a particular odour. It's fairly unpleasant but hard to describe.

My dh used to have very distinctive breath from drinking earl grey tea. Thank god he's stopped that now.

I have type one diabetes, I know mine sometimes smells like acetone if I’m ill as illness has a huge impact on my blood sugar levels.

My partners either smells of nothing or what he has just eaten, so if I went in for a sniff it would be chilli concarne.

Horlicks right now. Usually nothing.

My diabetic colleague has very distinctive (not awful) smelling breath. My mum doesn't eat enough and has stale breath because of that - it's from her stomach not her mouth.

When he is aroused it smells more meaty though it literally always smells the same when he is aroused and only smells that way if he is aroused. I'm not mad I promise

My dh smokes e cigs and that smells weird , almost metallic

Is it a pear drop/acetone smell? There was a thread on here recently about the OP’s sons breath smelling like that and it turned out he had diabetes. She took him to docs on the advice of other mumsnetters.

My youngest child smells fishy/tuna like when she had a snotty nose (which is often). My eldest doesn’t smell of anything, my DH is just whatever he had recently eaten/drunk other than first thing in the morning, when it’s gross but so is mine!
