I was insulted today and told I look much older than I am. Could I ask you to tell me how old you think? Blush

Be kind, but honest

60s

BarbaraofSeville · 18/01/2020 23:42

DP quit smoking using Champix after failing at just about every other method. Ask your GP or 'anti smoking nurse'.

I'm not sure if it's possible to turn time back using moisturiser, but all you need is any old moisturiser with sunscreen in it. That's the big secret. It doesn't matter if it costs £5 or £55, as long as you wear it every day and it has an SPF.

Poppet1974 · 18/01/2020 23:42

Zena I’d say you’re between 43 - 47.

74NewStreet · 18/01/2020 23:43

Why do people do this? Especially (forgive me, op) when they look so much older than they actually are.. It’s almost like a form of self harm.

Bumwart21 · 18/01/2020 23:44

Kiuuu

DarklyDreamingDexter · 18/01/2020 23:44

I’ve just scrolled back to see the unfiltered picture as I was going by the original one in your OP. I’d like to revise down my estimate to 52. I realise that’s still older than you are, but the filters are not doing you any favours! You look far better in the real photo. I stick by what I said about a new hairstyle. I think you could defo look in your 40s with a new hairstyle, so it’s not all bad!

xanthippe8 · 18/01/2020 23:44

I was a heavy smoker for years, finally managed to stop when I was 47 and my skin looked much better after just a few weeks. You can do it!

NiceGuyNeddie · 18/01/2020 23:46

Sorry haven't read the whole thread but are you very slim OP? The people who tend to look better later tend to have fuller faces.. When I saw the third, unfiltered photo I guessed your age about right going by your neck which still looks fine and fwiw I think you look pretty.

It will def be the smoking and lack of fat that accentuates the wrinkles.

YouTheCat · 18/01/2020 23:47

I regularly have people surprised that I am 50 but I put this down to the fact that I'm immensely juvenile, quite large and have no wrinkles. I also moisturise every day with cheap, wilkos, unscented moisturiser. I'm a smoker too. I was a goth through my teens/early twenties so never did the whole tanning thing which I think might have helped. Grin

I was going to say 45, OP, which isn't far off the mark.

silverdale7 · 18/01/2020 23:47

I would have said mid 50's but smoker? My mum is 58 this year but looks a lot younger, as does my aunty (her sister) who is 62. Good genes I'm hoping 🤞

recklessruby · 18/01/2020 23:48

I have used oil of ulay/olay since age 15 and also stay out of the sun (am a freckle magnet) but nobody s happy. I wish I looked like dd (with me in 2nd pic). I think she s beautiful

Singlenotsingle · 18/01/2020 23:49

Mid 40s

scotlandtobali · 18/01/2020 23:51

@TigerOnATrain they must have removed it as I can't see it - or even a 'thread deleted please see mumsnet guidelines...' comment

Downunderduchess · 18/01/2020 23:52

Mid to late 50’s

Cyclelover · 18/01/2020 23:52

Removed what? I'm confused? Confused

Sagradafamiliar · 18/01/2020 23:55

Someone posted a pic of their friend themselves and it got removed as people actually believed it was the poster's friend.

Cyclelover · 18/01/2020 23:56

Ah yes that post. Apologies I thought somebody had reported me

ClappyFlappy · 18/01/2020 23:58

I do think you look older than me, I’m 46 but I’ve never smoked, sunbathed, I’m fat and I have had roaccutane, all of which I think have helped me have no wrinkles.

But so what it doesn’t matter how old people think you are. People are generally shit at guessing ages. I’ve seen loads of threads on here where people are convinced they look younger than they are, I bet they don’t really. It’s just that people don’t really know generally what a specific age looks like. People often say I look younger but I really don’t think I do, I reckon I look my age and so what, I’m comfortable with that.

mindproject · 18/01/2020 23:59

My daughter and her friend put the old filter on her phone and showed me, but didn't tell me the old filter was on. I nearly had a heart attack. I knew I'd had a hard week, but I shit, the eyebags. I think all filters should be banned now.

OP - I think you look a lot better without the filters.

AfterSchoolWorry · 19/01/2020 00:00

65

Ihavehadenoughalready · 19/01/2020 00:00

I came back for the answer.

You did look a lot older with the doctored photos.

Yes, I believe 42 on the nice (3rd) photo.

Bear in mind that a lot of people just really suck at guessing ages, and when my littlest one was about 4, and I was 46, a little old lady with jet black (obviously dyed) hair thought I was his grandmother (I'd gone pretty grey already).

Yep it was hurtful.

Monty27 · 19/01/2020 00:04

This has got to be the worst thread I've had the misfortune to read on Mumsnet.
Get a grip OP.
Frankly at this stage I couldn't give a monkey's how old any of you that feels the need to post a photo on here is?
I can't see the purpose

cherish123 · 19/01/2020 00:05

Difficult to tell as the photo seems to have been altered.
