Baby food that is surprisingly tasty

I find myself ‘stocking up’ on the below items for 10 month DD then proceeding to demolish them myself:

  • Ella’s Kitchen Banana Brekkie pouches (so creamy and hands down better than the Aldi variants)
  • Organix muesli with the raspberry/strawberry. Always make an extra large portion for baby...
  • Those long baby ‘crisps’, sweet corn flavour

I realise I’m doing my wallet a disservice, but please share any more items that are worth sampling

The Annabel Karmel ready meals, especially the chicken and potato pie one!

PeanisBeker · 19/01/2020 14:30

Haven’t had baby food in the house for over 10 years so I don’t know what any of those things are but I always was partial to stewed apple and/or pear.

easyandy101 · 19/01/2020 14:33

Cow and gate egg custard 6m+

Never had a baby so i don't know where i got to try it but buy it semi frequently

BemidjiMinnesota · 19/01/2020 14:34

Farleys rusk used to always magically disappear in our house.

ActualHornist · 19/01/2020 14:36

I never bought any jars or anything (yes look at me I’m so saintly Grin) but as a teen I worked in a chemist and always thought the spaghetti bolognese toddler meals looked nice.

Never wasted any of my £2.50 an hour salary on buying one though!

namechangetheworld · 19/01/2020 14:39

Ella's Kitchen Spaghetti Bolognese is amazing. I'm secretly always pleased when DD doesn't finish her tea so I get to eat it instead.

namechangetheworld · 19/01/2020 14:40

And rusks are nice with a bit of Nutella spread on them Blush

happytoday73 · 19/01/2020 14:45

Ellas kitchen the purple one.... 😁

user1479305498 · 19/01/2020 18:07

I was very fond 21 years ago mind you of the odd Farleys rusk and tinned Heinz chocolate pudding .

PumpkinP · 19/01/2020 18:08

I really liked a banana baby porridge I use to get for dd, think it was Heinz. Also still eat rusks now

crispysausagerolls · 19/01/2020 18:11

Those sweetcorn ring crisp things are bloody good...but....

HEINZ APPLE BISCOTTI

OH MY FUCKING GOD. I have put away soooooo many packets of those 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈

whattodo2019 · 19/01/2020 18:11

Try The Good Stuff cook book by Lucinda Miller. It's fab cool book for children and families

Stravapalava · 19/01/2020 18:12

The Heinz biscotti are food of the gods. Absolutely gorgeous.

BeeFarseer · 19/01/2020 18:12

I discovered tinned Heinz chocolate pudding baby food as a student, and that became my treat because it was about 30p and delicious. Haven't seen it for at least 9 years.

Those sweetcorn hoop crisps. I want to say they're Organix, but could be making that up.

Farley's rusks are an all-time classic. My mum is in her 60s and still eats them.

Try a broken rusk dipped in hot chocolate for a sort of malty snack.

Little Dish fish pie = amazing.

speakout · 19/01/2020 18:13

Have to admit I have never bought or tasted baby food. A weird idea. Surely food is food.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 19/01/2020 18:16

Can't remember who did them, but these little apple crisps that tasted exactly like Apple doughnuts and were so very crispy. DS got to try them once before I decided I wasn't going to waste them on him.

Herocomplex · 19/01/2020 18:16

I once bought a jar of French baby food on a cross channel ferry, in the distant past. Delicious, because, as my DH pointed out, it had salt in it.

QuixoticQuokka · 19/01/2020 18:16

My DS didn't even like baby food when he was a baby, he was eating curry at 8 months. I think he got hooked on spices through the amniotic fluid! I can't imagine liking any baby food as an adult, it's much too bland.

FrankRattlesnake · 19/01/2020 18:17

Another vote for Ella’s Spag Bol - it’s amazing and I may base my next diet around it as it is low in calories too!

I also love rusks (full sugar ones) but not tried banana baby breakies even though we have lots int he house!).

Whatsnewpussyhat · 19/01/2020 18:18

I love the Heinz chocolate puddings in the glass jars.
The choc biscotti are nice too.

Stickybeaksid · 19/01/2020 18:20

Rusk and a cup of tea is the business. Sweet corn rings.
Liga but I’m not sure If you get them in the uk.

MooMummy12 · 19/01/2020 18:23

There was a beef and sweet potato one when my nephew was a baby. I think cow & gate. I loved it! When my sister went shopping she got me a jar too 😂😂

Racheyg · 19/01/2020 18:26

I've never tried baby food but I'm so tempted now.....I remember when I was around 20 there was the baby food diet

marshmallowkittycat · 19/01/2020 18:26

In the odd 'desperate for a snack' moment I've been known to put away a pack of sweet corn or tomato baby puff crisps. Add salt, shake packet. Delicious.

MRex · 19/01/2020 18:29

Kiddilicious Apple and cinnamon crisps are lovely. DH likes the Heinz Biscotti and Sweetcorn hoops mentioned above, also the Kiddilicious cheese straws.

We don't buy baby meals as he just eats what we're having, so I haven't had a chance to try the "meal" delicacies.
