How to deal with the CF who has been eating my granola

JoyceTempleSavage · 17/01/2020 12:58

Have recently moved into a larger office with about 50 new colleagues.

I have a tub of granola which I filled up last week and it’s now nearly empty. I’ve had it on my yoghurt maybe four times and it’s kept in the cereal cupboard inbetween times in its own special tub.

WIBU to top it up with 90% granola 10% used cat litter and keep my own granola in my locker instead?

This seems relevant, he may have gone a tad too far. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-25496331

Are laxative chocolate chips available from Holland and Barret?

ApacheEchidna · 18/01/2020 05:51

two identical opened packs of granola, and a message to the thief identical on both: "Please do not eat. property of Joyce. One of these packs contains cat litter and laxatives, the other is safe
I know which, but you don't. do you feel lucky?"

I had a lunch box of homemade soup that went missing once, turned out a colleague had done the same type of lunch herself and left hers in a different fridge but ate mine accidentally ... she offered to buy my lunch that day 🤪

Titsntats · 18/01/2020 06:32

I used to work in a call centre which had a communal kitchen shared between about 100 staff. One day there was a large note stuck to the fridge which said “can whoever helped themselves to my bottle of milk please return it as that is the breast milk I pumped this morning”. Nobody ever did admit to it Grin

AlCalavicci · 18/01/2020 07:17

There are some great ideas for revenge , MN minds are truly wicked Grin
I would go with the following
www.boots.com/boots-advanced-plaque-disclosing-tablets-10154242
www.amazon.co.uk/100-Pieces-Plastic-Realistic-Bugs/dp/B071NMCTCM?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I would use white pepper s is wont be seen at all , black might be .
Chilli powder / flakes

I wonder if it is possible to soak dried fruit in very salty water then dry it back out so the salt remains inside the fruit i am not over invested in this at all

WingDefence · 20/01/2020 11:16

Anyone waiting for OP to come back and update us? Grin

TheCakeCrusader · 20/01/2020 11:27

Definitely put in lots of non toxic powdered food colouring to catch the CF!

😈

JoyceTempleSavage · 20/01/2020 12:55

I have chickened out today and topped up the granola with actual granola. About half full. I have marked the outside of the tub with the level. I am out for the next two days so will see on Thursday whether any snaffling has occurred.

If so, onto plan b - Catsan stained with tea bags. I hope the CF has an NHS dentist.

Highonpotandused · 20/01/2020 13:02

What does marking the tub achieve? Confused
Put post it on saying please do not steal.

YABU to be surprised at missing granola.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/01/2020 13:02

Thanks for the update, OP - we're all just hanging on now for Thursday!!

WarmSausageTea · 20/01/2020 13:08

Another vote for chilli, and a lot of it.

The fucking entitlement of these people infuriates me.

BestestBrownies · 20/01/2020 13:30

Oooof! Don’t wimp out on us OP!!

Get the laxative chocolate in there before you leave today

starfishmummy · 20/01/2020 13:43

OP please remember if you put laxatives in it!! 🏃‍♂️💩

Lockheart · 20/01/2020 13:56

Don't try and poison your colleagues with cat litter / medication / pet food or do anything stupid just to appease the drama-loving MN crowd.

If you cause someone harm you could be fired, sued, and / or prosecuted - and that applies even though they are taking something they shouldn't.

Put a label on it and if that doesn't work then either speak to HR or keep it at your desk.

BigFatLiar · 20/01/2020 14:47

Don't tell us until afterwards. The phantom Granola eater may be a mumsneter and know what you're up to!

GetInLoserWereGoingShopping · 20/01/2020 14:47

you boreeeeeeeeeeeeeee Halo

GetInLoserWereGoingShopping · 20/01/2020 14:48

^^ that was to @Lockheart Wink

2dogsand1baby · 20/01/2020 14:51

Scrolling quickly through the app, I read:

"How to deal with the CF who has been eating my grandpa"

So it could be worse I suppose...! 😂🤦‍♀️

SoupDragon · 20/01/2020 14:53

Put a label on it

Put a label on it that says "cat litter" 👍🏻

fedup21 · 20/01/2020 15:00

I can’t believe people are so bloody cheeky!

I would probably just take in enough for each day with me, but if you can’t do that, could you put it in a closed shopping bag under your desk? Surely nobody would open a bag from under your desk?

Stefoscope · 20/01/2020 15:11

I like the suggestions of the realistic toy bugs or mice. Doesn't have the potential to make them sick and chances are they'll scream in shock so you'll find out who the thief is!

CollieDug · 20/01/2020 15:42

Toenail clippings. Non toxic and invisible. but I would be seriously heaving if I thought I’d eaten anyone else’s! Any dandruff too - desiccated coconut anyone?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/01/2020 16:44

But you'd be fine with eating your own, though? Grin

CollieDug · 20/01/2020 17:42

Hell no, but I have a bit of a phobia about other people’s feet and toenails in particular!
