Do you have to call in daily even for things like chicken pox? What does your school do if a child doesn't turn up and parent doesn't report it? Especially for eyfs and ks1

Curious to see if ours is overkill

Officially every day but when my child was sick I called and left a message saying she wouldn't there that day or the next and didn't call back the next day as felt I'd already let them know. I wasn't contacted.

We can call in in the morning and let them know. Most cases DD was back in the next day so I didn't actually need a follow up. When she had chicken pox i left a message on the first day stating the illness and said she will be back as soon as she is better. I haven't rang again and they didn't ring either.

At my school if a child is absent and no one knows why,the office rings the parents to check.
