AIBU to think I can lose 5 pounds (weight!)in 3 weeks?

My husband has announced a surprise holiday in three weeks. I am the biggest I have ever been. I should be excited bit I feel grotesque and know I will spend the whole time trying to cover up. However, if I lost, say 5 pounds I think it would make a real difference. Is it possible?! And if so, how?!! Please help me!

In order to loose a pound a week I think you need a 500 kcal deficit per day. In order to loose 5 lbs in three weeks you’d need a higher deficit. What is your current calorie intake? If it’s quite high, you could cut it to 1,500 easily. If it’s the recommended 2,000 you could cut to 1,500 then also do 200-300kcal of exercise per day.

I don’t agree with crash dieting or super low kcal like fast 800.

Yes you can do it easily on keto. And the bigger you are the more weight you will lose quickly because you lose a LOT of water weight in the first week. I lost 1.7 stone in 6 weeks, and I had two weekends off. I followed my own plan though and didn't try to make all these keto cakes/bread etc. I can share some meal ideas with you if you like.

It’s quite easy to hit exercise goals and 1,500kcal in take without running yourself into the ground. Plus it’s sustainable should you want to keep the weight off. I use My Fitness Pal to track my days. It’s free and fab!

Five pounds is nothing though. I don't understand how if you're so big it can make a real difference?

It depends how big you are to begin with (‘biggest I have ever been’ is all relative and means very different things to different people!) but it’s definitely doable. I’m currently losing 1 or 2lbs a week and I’m not doing anything extreme.

But honestly I think you should just look forward to your holiday and not get fixated on needing to be a certain weight by a certain date. That way madness lies!

I weigh nearly 11 stone and am quite small so it shows. I think losing the weight would help me mentally rather than anything else. Oh, and also I might not have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe.... (am currently hiding stomach behind scarfs and stuff....

I've lost 11lbs in 2 weeks on the Fast800. Yes, that will be a fair amount of water weight but I do feel better and have lost an inch off my waist. I have a lot to lose (4 stone) so it's not noticeable to others but I see a little bit of a difference around my torso.

All that said, just enjoy your surprise holiday and don't worry about your weight.

So really you're just cutting out most carbs, which sounds horrible but it's actually really easy to do, and if you want to stop it after the weight loss, just slowly re-introduce carbs back into your diet so you don't gain all that weight back really quickly. My mum has been doing keto for a year now and she looks great!

Breakfast options:

Smoked salmon, scrambled eggs with some lemon
Avocado, bacon with poached egg
Full english minus the bread or hashbrowns
Spinach omelette
Low carb fruits - strawberries, raspberries and blueberries (though limit these)

Lunch options:

Absolutely any meat or fish with salad
Omelettes
Meats/fish with roasted vegetables
Chicken ceaser salad with bacon, mmm

Dinner options:

Smoked gammon with low carb cauliflower cheese (one bag of parmesan mixed with one pot of double cream, layer over boiled cauliflower, cover with grated cheddar and put in the oven on high for 25 minutes, it's amazing).

Meat/fish with vegetables

Steak, asparagus, mushrooms and tomatoes and a side salad

Ham, eggs and mushrooms

Vegetable soups

Baked camembert with dippy carrots, cucumber and celery

Cheese board without bread

Puddings:

Limit them but if you really want something sweet try some strawberries with double cream. Don't go for low fat cream, go for the real thing. You can also get sugar free squirty cream!

Takeaways:

You can have duck pancakes from the chinese without the pancakes, and lots of the meat and veg dishes.

McDonalds: Double cheeseburgers without the bun, with a chicken and bacon salad (I used to eat this ALL the time)

Gourmet burger kitchen and Nando's have lots of options and sides.

Indian, you can get a full mixed grill with no carbs at all, and saag paneer.

Make sure you're only drinking water, sugar free squash or diet drinks.

Yes easily! Just switch to a keto diet and you’ll probably lose more than that in 3 weeks and feel better too!!

I have been doing Noom since the 1st Jan (but didn’t properly start for 3 days), I officially lost 5lb yesterday. That’s a week and a half, three weeks is definitely doable!

It's not the pounds I would focus on its the inches.

Exercise every day and you'll notice a difference.

Not sure how much in 3 weeks though..

5 pounds in 3 weeks is definitely doable and also focus on getting your skin into great condition, maybe some fake tan if you like it, as it will all help you feel a bit better.

I have no idea if any of the 'firming' creams available are any good or whether they would deliver results within 3 weeks but if anyone can suggest an effective one, that might be helpful.

Cut all sugars from your diet for the 3 weeks, it helps. I lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks. Then Christmas happened and I've put on 4 😩

It depends on your body really, shape, size and height etc. Water plays a massive part. A lot of the stuff people have said above. If I lost 5lbs you wouldn’t be able to tell. But if you put your mind to it and cut all the crap, drink loads of water you can do it. In the past I’ve lost anything from half a stone to a stone in a week.

I’ve been ‘being healthy’ since Jan 2nd and have lost 4lbs so far by just not eating AS MUCH crap- whilst still having choc coins and stuff everyday haha it’s definitely do able but I’d say if you want to literally feel better it’s all about the exercise- start now- like today! Do some HIIT sessions- jo wicks is great, but there’s loads on YouTube. Then do some toning stuff and you’ll be feeling much better in that time xxx
