I have never really bothered with it, but as a bit of a bargain hunter I feel I may be missing out?!

Do you like it? What's the best thing you have ever found in there?

I like the practical homeware in my local one, esp the kitchen stuff. I've had pans, bowls, canisters and tins and utensils and a lovely le creuset oven dish and butter dish and my Sabatier knife block. I keep an eye out for Joseph Joseph bargains! Just moved house & will probably look there first for my new kitchen bin & new towels. We get great make up brands but often not good colours. I've bought Liz Arden 8hr there before though and lots of make-up brushes- always worth a look! Also bought my suitcases in there, and would branch out to furniture if I spotted something just right.

My local one is good for toys but I'm less sold on the ladies wear- other than pjs - and the accessories and shoes, although I've had some nice Dents gloves, a paul costelloe coat and an osprey bag from other branches. I also weirdly find my local one great for posh evening bags but I can never find a big every day bag that I like and cheap little night out bags are better value in our local H&M. Best friend always has fab fashion bargains from there and designer bags. I think I'm too pernickety! She also likes buying all the Heyland & Whittle soap in there!

Blobby10 · 15/01/2020 09:50

A few years ago I had several one of a kind evening dresses from there all for £30-40. More recently I've found a lovely MK coat as well as some great ankle boots and a Polo jumper for my daughter, all for around £20. And I got a fab massive frying pan with lid for £20 which has lasted for ever.

But, like many of you, I can't cope with rooting through the rails for something - it tends to be pot luck if I find anything Grin

MrsToothyBitch · 15/01/2020 11:06

My local one is also chock full of sistema. I have many sistema goodies from them.

Urkiddingright · 15/01/2020 11:08

It can be good but it’s honestly down to sheer luck of the draw, some stores are better than others. It is a very random store but I always enjoy having a wander round. They have some interesting toys and designer/branded clothing that’s a lot cheaper.

Herts6789 · 15/01/2020 11:24

Is your voucher also valid at Homesense?

I never bother with the clothes at TK but love the home/food/pet sections. and Homesense is just a full sized store of the TKmaxx home stuff :D

whiplashy · 15/01/2020 11:43

Can’t deal with the clothes section but I love the shoes and homeware

littlepaddypaws · 15/01/2020 12:04

don't like the mish mash look, too chaotic for me.

Excited101 · 15/01/2020 12:05

ALL HAIL!

SunshineAngel · 15/01/2020 12:09

I have actually found some amazing things in there when I've gone with other people, but I would never go myself though choice. I also never shop in sales, as it stresses me out to the Maxx (see what I did there?!) rummaging through sales clothes.

Sn0tnose · 15/01/2020 12:13

I think it depends which branch you go into. My local one isn’t great for clothes or accessories but is fantastic for bathroom stuff and kitchen accessories. Also, loads of foot stalls the last time we visited. The last time I went into the Brighton branch I got some beautiful shoes. You just have to go in there with low expectations.

FreedomfromPE · 15/01/2020 12:17

I do get shoes there as I don't like heels or trainers and because they're all out of season I can get brogues or sandals etc whenever I need a pair. I also manage to usually get the barefoot brands for my son for around half the price. I find the clothing too confusing to much to make sense of.

Celticrose · 15/01/2020 12:39

Haven't been recently but I have got loads of stuff in the past mainly household items boden storage jars Orla Kiely towels and white Le Crueset teapots which I had been looking for for ages plus lovely handbags and luggage. I got beautiful bedside lamps once which I still have many years later. They were exactly what I was looking for. I recently bought another 2 similar ones but returned them thinking I couldn't justify buying them. Then one of the bedside lamps in our bedroom stopped working and I really regretted returning the ones to TK Maxx which were long gone.

Geoffreythecat · 15/01/2020 13:02

I've bought a beautiful Osprey bag, Analon pans, Le Creuset casseroles, Bahoma candles and lots of other bits and pieces for next to nothing. The bedding has been hit and miss, some great, but also some really poor quality, so if I can't feel the fabric, I don't buy it. Some shops are definitely less jumble sale than others. Oh, nearly forgot, I've had some really good underwear bargains too.

20viona · 15/01/2020 13:03

Can't stand the place it's like a jumble sale.

SquishyLint · 15/01/2020 13:07

The one near us is really tidy and organised, it’s brilliant! Bought some fantastic things at great prices.

The one in the town nearest where I used to live was vile. I would avoid it at all costs.

babybunny123 · 15/01/2020 13:12

I love it for the homeware and great range of sunglasses. Also love their sister store Homesense.

Sweetooth92 · 15/01/2020 13:21

Love ours. Got raybans for £25 the other year. Great for Ralph Lauren jumpers for toddler DS, lovely towels and home wares.
I could spend days in there

DreamingofSunshine · 15/01/2020 13:46

I'm wearing the £8 Chanel nail varnish I found there.

A pp reminded me that all of DS' grobags came from tk maxx.

Sistersofpercy · 15/01/2020 13:56

Yay.
Where else but TKs could I furnish my home with crap as amazing as this.....

Tk maxx yay or nay?
MurrayTheMonk · 15/01/2020 15:35

I love a little browse around TK

MurrayTheMonk · 15/01/2020 15:37

I get all my candles there. A lot of hair stuff. Shoes and boots-got some Steve Madden biker boots that I wore to death.
And a beautiful DKNY cocoon style coat in black that will always be stylish.

Get a lot of designer-y Polo shirts for Dp too- Penguin and the like...

purplecorkheart · 15/01/2020 15:50

My local store seems to be one of the better organised TK Maxx I have been to. Clothes are very well organised and sizes well laid out.

I do buy a bit of knitwear there. You can pick up some excellent bargains. I have bought some nice leather handbags.

MopsRUs · 15/01/2020 15:53

I never find anything in there. It's all weird styles, strange colours and shapes which don't fit. Is it basically a shop of left-overs which didn't sell?

SpoonBlender · 15/01/2020 16:04

Only takes a moment to go through the couple of racks that fit you. I spend more time in the kitchen gear bit myself, there's good stuff in there.

BiddyPop · 15/01/2020 16:17

I've got some very good baking ware in there in the past which was very good value. I also found an interesting and useful storage "thing" for packets of sauces in my kitchen cupboard - never seen anything like it in regular shops.

I've got some good jeans and sports gear for DD at times.

The occasional item of clothing for me.

Occasional toys for presents etc.

But many many times have come away with nothing at all.

It is hit or miss. Useful to go into if you want something specific but are not pushed on brands, (ski gear, ball gown, etc). But I have never found that "fab designer outfit at rock bottom prices" that they sell themselves on in their ads....
