I have never really bothered with it, but as a bit of a bargain hunter I feel I may be missing out?!

Do you like it? What's the best thing you have ever found in there?

Love it, mainly online but in store cosmetics, home and shoes are great. I try to go for known brands as quality is patchy with unknown brands. Great for cashmere in winter and linen in summer.

stepitupjuan · 14/01/2020 22:19

My teenage son is a TK Maxx addict and gets great stuff but it's a nay from me personally. I've looked at the bags a few times but realise I'm only tempted to something I vaguely like because it's a bargain, not because I love it. I don't collect belongings so when I do buy something, I have to love it.

AwdBovril · 14/01/2020 22:20

Oh and I've had some fabulous shoe bargains. Birkenstocks recently, & a gorgeous pair of suede Diesel boots a few years ago.

MrsBertBibby · 14/01/2020 22:20

I am lying here wearing slippers, socks, PJ bottoms and a cardi all from there.

It's great for kids clothes, sportswear, but yes, it's a time consuming rummage so I don't go often.

Apileofballyhoo · 14/01/2020 22:21

Lots of it is shite but I've got some good stuff over the years. I usually go in with DM and we get one of the big shopping trolleys and throw anything into it that looks interesting, go through them when we've finished browsing, take out anything that isn't good quality, and try on anything that is. Usually get books or a game for DS too.

Most recent purchases were a big oversized wool cardigan from Zara for about €10 and a couple of very nice Italian made tops.

I got a really nice Timberland cardigan a few years ago that is much admired, a few pairs of Diesel jeans for about €20, a Pringle jumper for DH, Tommy Hilfiger jeans (DM), I think about €40, a below the knee Trespass down coat I think was €40, and I don't know what else. A Ralph Lauren (I think - I can't remember but it was a 'name') silk shirt for €20. Oh a Kangol hoody I've had for years and years. DH has had numerous pairs of jeans - he really loved one particular pair I got for €30 (Roberto, maybe?) so I tried to find the same pair online they were £100. Nike yoga pants I've had for years, I think they were less than €15.

The thing to do is to not actually be looking for something specific, but pick things up if you see something good. The end of the sales seems to be a good time. I was in before Christmas and I didn't spot anything. But you do have to trawl through loads of shite.

SandyY2K · 14/01/2020 22:22

I love it. Some unique clothing pieces..good gym wear and good quality too.

It requires patience though. About 70% of my clothes are from TKMAXX.

FrangipaniBlue · 14/01/2020 22:22

I've been in and came out empty handed and other days came out laden!

Last time I was in I got a knee length duvet coat for £90 that was retailing at £380 on the internet.

FrangipaniBlue · 14/01/2020 22:23

I've also bought done decent kitchenware from there too

Dramaofallama · 14/01/2020 22:24

I use to hate it but now love it. I have found some good bargains in the homeware department, sportswear, children and beauty section.
They also sale some good handbags.

DontCallMeShitley · 14/01/2020 22:24

Most of my stuff is from there. I like the randomness of it. Sometimes go in just for a quick look and find loads of things when I wasn't planning on buying, then when I am planning to buy there is nothing I want.

Homesense is good for house stuff, and both shops for pet beds (good ones as well as the cheap Chinese stuff) and other pet things, bedding, towels, clocks, pictures, lamps, throws, rugs, and sometimes furniture although it is not always good quality but more fashionable. China, odds & sods of food, good pasta and olive oil, teas ...

JaceLancs · 14/01/2020 22:25

I love it because I just go straight to the sections I’m looking for eg knitwear - check out my size - job done
I’ve had some amazing bargains especially designer shoes (helps that I have small feet)
DC bought me some Paul smith boots for Xmas for £37, online they were £285

Londonmummy66 · 14/01/2020 22:26

I think that they place individual stock in specific stores so it can be a bit hit and miss depending on which store you are going to. I remember going to one in Edinburgh and picking out two lovely cashmere jumpers from a decent Scottish brand, a Lanvin dress and a pair of fabulous knee high lace up designer boots with kitten heels - all for less than £100. Got a coffee in a next door shop and 2 girls on the next table were moaning about how they never found anything nice there.....

AwdBovril · 14/01/2020 22:28

I have occasionally found Joules clothing in there as well. One of the tops was identical to the one I was wearing that day, which I'd only purchased a few months previously... I obviously bought it as I loved it & I don't say that about a lot of women's clothing.

WhoWants2Know · 14/01/2020 22:31

Most of my handbags this decade have come from there.

Namaste6 · 14/01/2020 22:49

Yay - sometimes.

EngagedAgain · 14/01/2020 22:55

Nrtft but my experience is I've not brought much from there, except partners underwear, crockery and socks. Don't go often. I did buy a couple pairs of shoes but took them back. Also walking boots I never wore. That's just my experience. Once I do get in there I find I need quite a while. I just have to look at everything! In theory I like most of the clothes, but in practice they are not really my style.

Livingoncake · 14/01/2020 23:28

I can’t stand the place. I just don’t have time to hunt through racks of jumble which may or may not contain something I could possibly wear. My husband loves it, so I’ve been in and browsed many times, but never bought anything.

Mind you, over the years I’ve become quite a minimalist, capsule-wardrobe type, mostly because I hate shopping in general, so take my opinion with a pinch of salt.

Spodge · 14/01/2020 23:30

It’s hateful

Ladiva1971 · 14/01/2020 23:51

Hell no!! Like other posters have said it looks like a posh jumble sale, but I hate clothes shopping anyway.

maggiecate · 15/01/2020 00:13

It’s hit and miss - sometimes you get stuff, sometimes you don’t. There’s a lot of tat but you do get some gems. It’s definitely somewhere you’re best to visit out of the main shopping hours - weekdays/evenings are best, it gets trashed at weekends.

My current winter coat is from there (wool/cashmere mix) and a gorgeous cashmere scarf as well. Clothes are arranged by category and size so I find it quite easy to browse because you just start at one end of the rail and work along it! I hate having to wander a store trying to find all the jumpers or whatever in different concessions so it suits me!

Also my duvet is from there, and the cover now I come to think about it - you get really nice bed linen (gorgeous pillowcases, with high thread counts). You get high end skincare and shampoo etc at decent prices and I've got makeup from the website (the stuff in store tends to be opened). I got a couple of Miller Harris candles last month.

ViserionTheDragon · 15/01/2020 00:27

My local TK Maxx is always busy, but I've managed to get some lovely LeCreuset oven dishes, branded toys, children's books, pet stuff and Furla handbags, all at excellent prices! It is worth it IMO.

namechangingtime · 15/01/2020 00:30

Bath stuff and home stuff used to be favourites, although I once found a pair of ripped jeans that fit me perfectly (I am 5' exactly and so even the petite stuff doesn't fit me properly) for a fiver. My mum has been in recently and says the baby stuff is excellent so when/if I ever get some money I'll pop in for a look.
My brother gets Adidas and Nike stuff in there at a good price too

RadicalFern · 15/01/2020 00:33

It's like a charity shop but for new things ; sometimes you find loads of good stuff, sometimes it's all weird things. You have to search a bit.

Ballstothisdotcom · 15/01/2020 00:34

Dh bought a jumper in there £9 reduced from £900 that I suspect was a typo but he is happy thinking it’s the bargain of the century.

Amiable · 15/01/2020 00:35

I love TKMaxx online. Seems a lot of people don't know about it, but most of my recent fashion buys, and loads of my Xmas presents for family came from there. So much easier than the shops!
