I have never really bothered with it, but as a bit of a bargain hunter I feel I may be missing out?!

Do you like it? What's the best thing you have ever found in there?

Yay. Lots of my clothes have come from there over the years. Lots of cashmere and merino stuff Mainly tops and jackets rather than trousers.

DS has Ralph Lauren trousers, shirts and polo shirts from there too.

Dowser · 14/01/2020 21:28

I get a lot of faith in nature shampoo at knock down prices, tisserand oils..again bargain prices.
6 packs of bath Epsom salts..£1-70 a bag in sale
Lovely fine toothed hair brushes for my fragile hair..bought one and went back for three more, one for home, one for caravan and one to keep in suitcase for when travelling.
The occasional dress
Yes to ski suits many years ago
Unusual chocs in sales when I didn’t have to be picky over gf and df
I’ve had some lovely good quality bedding from there
Toys and childrens clothes here and in the us where it’s called TJ maxx

londonrach · 14/01/2020 21:29

Clothes huge no no no.. toys and homewear are great

Gogolego · 14/01/2020 21:32

Yay- but you have to be in the right frame of mind. And have to time sift through the tat. Also helps if you have something in mind for what you're looking for but not too specific. Like I want a t- shirt but not I want a pale pink T-shirt with a v neck and a flowery motif.

I like the shop for accessories such as say I've got a new dress for a wedding and I need a bag and a shawl

TheCoolerQueen · 14/01/2020 21:37

I don't like the clothes section but love everything else. I usually come out of TKs with socks, soap, candles, kitchen & bath ware, stationery, and some sort of confectionary.

Supersimkin2 · 14/01/2020 21:38

A lot of stock is TK own brands, which aren't cheap or a bargain.

But.... I got a delicious red cashmere cardi for 19 quid reduced from 650 the other week. Proper Sloane Square designer, too. Chanel nail polish for £8.00, Stella McCartney pants for a fiver.

TK's not that cheap any more - the Gold Label can sometimes be ok, if it's around the £50 mark. I wouldn't spend 200 quid on a Joseph coat from 5 years ago and I don't know who would.

Ilovelblue · 14/01/2020 21:46

I love their toiletries - hand washes, shampoos, soaps and occasional perfume bargains. I have to pass through the shop when I park in my nearest town so rarely resist having a scout round. They do some excellent reed diffusers too - Stoneglow, Zara, Kenneth Turner etc which are around £5-£10 but retail for double that.

I quite like the kitchen stuff too, especially the Italian foodstuffs.

FoamingAtTheUterus · 14/01/2020 21:49

I got dd 3 pairs of Calvin klein socks in there for £4 the other day. She was very pleased. Grin

Thestrangestthing · 14/01/2020 21:50

Homeware.... Yes, clothes.....no, onky ever found one item of clothing that was any good and it was a sports jumper. I've fornd the odd kids thing.
There was a programme about tk maxx, some undercover thing. I can't remember what exactly was going on, but basically it's a con.

FoamingAtTheUterus · 14/01/2020 21:50

Oh and ds loves their coffee beans, we get them from there now. The vegan bath stuff, soaps and knock off loccutainne is fab value too.

Frankola · 14/01/2020 21:52

Yes with bells on. I bloody love it.
Home wear section it immense!

flirtygirl · 14/01/2020 21:52

People who have never found anything just aren't looking.

Loads of bargains, some stores are more rubbish but still bargains to be had.

I found so many bargains today but had to force myself to walk out as stupidly went in there, when I have started a no spend. I literally saw 8 or 9 things, not usually this many.

It's a yay from me.

Monetmoney · 14/01/2020 21:53

Love it for home stuff!

Ohpleasefuckofflove · 14/01/2020 21:53

TK Maxx has saved me ££££ literally

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/01/2020 21:55

Our town centre used to have a TKmaxx and HomeSense but they've merged into the TKMaxx now .

Cannot say I have ever found any TKMaxx bargains in clothing.
I've tried to buy brand name underwear for DS but the boxes are open and everything is muddled.
Make up looks like it has been well mauled .

HomeSense was always tidy, organised, clean. There might be one or two of an item but it never felt "end of range" it felt unique .
I learned if I saw something I wanted/needed buy it now . If I waited till the next day , it would be gone.
Not the same since it moved Sad

Dazedandconfused28 · 14/01/2020 21:55

I generally find it better for men's clothes, recently have bought shoes from there, but find the women's fashion quite stressful. I bought an entire le creuset set in homeware, so there are definitely gems to be had!

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/01/2020 21:57

It’s good for baking trays/tins.

The le creuset colours don’t match up with what I’ve bought from le creuset website.

Plumbus · 14/01/2020 21:59

Stock really varies between store location. Our local one is pretty mediocre but I remember the big one in Thurrock was great.

There are bargains, but there's also a lot of crap. Plenty of decent last season stuff but be wary of the cheaper 'made for outlet' stuff, I know Ralph Lauren does this.

Can be hard work but I've found lots of great stuff (clothes and home). As has been mentioned, check online. There's actually lots of stuff there I've never seen in store. I think free delivery for orders >£75 and you can return in store. I remember having a period of buying stuff online so frequently I'd be going to the store every couple of weeks to return. When the staff are recognising you as a 'regular' you know you're going too frequently...Blush

Babybel90 · 14/01/2020 21:59

The women’s clothes are no good but the men’s are ok, homewares are great, I get most of our bedding, wall-hangings, kitchenware and suitcases from there and I’ve had some really good baby stuff from there cheaper than I’ve seen in other places.

Leflic · 14/01/2020 22:03

It’s really not that bad.

Just wander around and find stuff you like the look of. Some you can see is a bit of a bargain and some isn’t. Just like normal shopping.

The sweets/snacks are overpriced but I found the exact brand of niche crisps I was looking for at Christmas, only available at specialist stores at vast expensive or ...my local TK Maxx for half the price.

Clappingforjoy · 14/01/2020 22:04

Love the home department can pick up some wonderful stuff from the middle east etc.

Gemma2019 · 14/01/2020 22:10

I hate going into the actual shop but I've had some nice things online - got a leather biker jacket last week for £75 and some Skechers trainers for £15.

misspiggy19 · 14/01/2020 22:13

My local TK Maxx is a depressing, pile of crap. Over inflated prices, fake brands. Can’t find a big name brand there at all.

AwdBovril · 14/01/2020 22:15

Avoid the makeup unless it's still got seals on.
There are often some really good items available in clothing but you have to spend time looking through the racks. I get most of my clothes either from TK Maxx or the sales at Joules, Fat Face, Seasalt or Boden. Mostly TK Maxx. I only wear natural fibres, I bought a beautiful merino wool jumper in there for £10 yesterday. I have got some amazing bargain clothes for DD, gorgeous winter coats that I'd expect to be way out of my price range in a regular shop. Always check clothing hasn't been pulled about though - the state of some of it is shocking, holes where the hangers have pierced the shoulders, seams occasionally damaged. I suspect the "jumble sale" atmosphere does make some people think it's ok to damage the stock.
I switched over to soap a couple of years ago & now only buy from there. I store the spares in my clothes drawers; my clothing smells lovely & I no longer need to buy fabric conditioner.
I have bought insulated Bodum mugs for DH & myself, they're fab, also decent double-walled metal water bottles that keep drinks cool for several hours.

Home Sense - I only go in for the room air scent diffuser things. Our local TK Maxx has barely any. We do need new plates though.

Gertie75 · 14/01/2020 22:16

I don't find it particularly cheap but then I'm not into designer clothes and don't recognise any of the names on the labels.

I've bought a few party dresses for my daughter and the home section is nice for finding things you don't get in the high street shops.
