Just that really. OK so I know I will get told to focus on my own life and that I'm jealous etc I do actually like watching Holly on TV but I can't help hut think she constantly lands on her feet, I know no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors but she is genuinely happy, I don't think you could fake that everyday! She's super rich, seems to have a nice husband and family life, no money struggles wondering how she is going to pay a bill, always getting new job roles, I don't understand how every area in her life can be so perfect. Over the years I have watched this morning whilst going through phases of being so poor and now a marriage breakup, so I understand you will think its my own issues why I feel like this but I'm just wondering how people go through life getting good things thrown at them and some have shit. Yes she works hard hut don't we all she just got lucky yo be working on TV which not everyone has the chance to do to warn millions

OP posts:
EmeraldShamrock · 11/01/2020 14:15

but I think she is defo one of those ms that puts herself first too and understands the importance of looking after herself and those mums tend to be happier
Fuck me. How do you know this.
Working to give your family financial security long hours, good pay to cushion the future. I don't think it is putting yourself first at all.
When I hit a young teen I didn't say it was great DM was at home for my childhood.
I was a cow I thought DM has a shitty none interesting life and judged her for not doing much for herself.
I get it now though there is a balance of giving love, making time together great, with a good work ethic.

Doubleraspberry · 11/01/2020 14:22

missed many mornings with her DCs

I wasn’t jealous of her at all until I read this!

CosmoK · 11/01/2020 14:24

Half the criticisms here could be about any working mum....and I say mum because working dads ( TV presenter or not) never get criticised for not making the Nativity.

Inappropriatefemale · 11/01/2020 14:26

I meant can Holly call in with a couple of hours notice and say she can’t come in due to her child being sick as a pp said that she would miss out on the kids being sick which is why I asked the question.

CosmoK · 11/01/2020 14:28

Well according to MN the vast majority of dads can't take sick days at short notice either but they rarely get criticised

EmeraldShamrock · 11/01/2020 14:28

@Doubleraspberry me too. Grin

TheYearOfTheDog · 11/01/2020 14:29

Holly has a nice life NO doubt but it wouldn't occur to me to envy her.

I'd find myself inspired by women who followed their own path and created something or wrote something or implemented some change or facility. I guess who we're jealous of is a guide. Leading us to what we want to become. The only thing is you can't become pretty, a tv presenter, rich by just going in that direction. maybe you can. But probably not.

katewhinesalot · 11/01/2020 16:34

Ant Mcpartlin seemed to have it all on the surface. Look at the marriage troubles, alcoholism etc going on behind the scenes going on there.

Look at all the celebrity suicides.

Things aren't always as wonderful as you might think.

Mrsjayy · 11/01/2020 16:44

So very true and sad that it is all thrown at mums feet when she doesn't "do it all ",

beautifulstranger101 · 11/01/2020 16:46

Exactly. There are PLENTY of rich, famous, attractive, successful people who are addicted to drugs, alcohol, have depression, have attempted suicide etc.
On the outside it appears they have everything. On the inside, they are clearly extremely lonely and unhappy. You can never assume things about anyone's life.

I always thought that about Angelina Jolie: worth millions, beautiful to the point she's almost unreal, rich handsome successful desirable husband (Brad pitt), 6 healthy kids, career beyond her wildest dreams etc

Lost her mum early from ovarian cancer, estranged from her father, had both breasts and her ovaries removed as a preventative measure as she carries the brca gene, long history of drug use etc

Noone really "has it all".

MarshaBradyo · 11/01/2020 16:56

Fame is just some agency pumping out press releases for you, interviews etc. Working out how to stay relevant and not become irrelevant. It’s not their life or who they are, just work.

Aprilsinparis · 11/01/2020 17:12

I really use to like Holly, but she seems to be cropping up on different programmes far too often.
That saying 'Familiarity breeds contempt' is, I'm afraid so true with Holly.

PrincessLouis · 11/01/2020 17:47

I agree there is quite a lot of nastiness on this thread about HW being a working mum. There is room in the world for different priorities in parenting as we all (mums AND dads) try to balance being physically present, being mentally present, financial security, being role models for our children, personal satisfaction etc etc. I agree with whoever said that perhaps HW’s greatest talent is the resilience to ignore all the negativity she inevitably attracts as a person, and particularly a woman, in the public eye. It’s only human to feel envious sometimes but please try to be kind

Sundancer77 · 11/01/2020 18:23

I’m fairly intrigued as to what Holly’s ‘Real life’ is like and have no idea why 🤷‍♀️I don’t have this curiosity about any other presenters etc I don’t think, it just all seems so perfect, can it be?
I have actually met her a few years ago and I think that’s part of it, she wasn’t really what I expected and I left feeling confused as to what type of person she is really.

Drabarni · 11/01/2020 18:28

I wouldn't swop, we raised our own kids, she can hardly see hers the amount she works.
I find her false tbh, but there again aren't all celebs.
She's very pretty, too. I don't think any woman who works has a family and husband have it all either.
I suppose what having it all means to you.
For me it's time to do as you wish, not having to work to a schedule all day, that would be so boring.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 11/01/2020 18:29

Very milk toast in my opinion, seems nice enough but I bet I'm more fascinating all day long Grin.

Sundancer77 · 11/01/2020 18:30

But why is everyone saying ‘The amount she works?’ Four mornings per week, one evening per week and holidays off? 🤷‍♀️

Drabarni · 11/01/2020 18:34

Sundancer
That's a bit like saying a teacher only works from 9-3.

She has sound checks, rehearsals, make -up and hair.
Then all the appearances you don't always get to hear about, award ceremonies, etc.
Believe me she'll not be making it home very often, her kids will be raised by someone else no mistake.

Welshmaenad · 11/01/2020 18:36

I wouldn't flitter around pretending to find Gino D'Acampo hilarious for any amount of money. Poor girl.

PrincessLouis · 11/01/2020 18:44

@Drabarni please don’t be so judgmental - HW and others can make different choices to you without being bad people

zoobincan · 11/01/2020 18:52

But why is everyone saying ‘The amount she works?’ Four mornings per week, one evening per week and holidays off? 🤷‍♀️

Because TM is not the only show she is doing/has done since having children. Most of the time she has had more than TM on the go.

HarrietThePi · 11/01/2020 18:59

I didn't realise people thought this deeply about famous people's lives. I think yabu op, sorry.

We don't know what her life is actually like, do we? To me she looks like a normal woman. She seems nice enough, but I've only seen her when she's doing her job so have no idea what her actual personality is like. She could be having marriage problems, or family problems for all I know... I assume her job is well paid so I doubt she has financial problems but she's not unique there.

BrieAndChilli · 11/01/2020 20:04

She will be doing photo shoots, magazine interviews, and I think she has things like bedding ranges and her M&S endorsement, she does adverts for hair products, all of that will entail meetings and filming and rehearsals etc.
Plus then being in shape and presentable is part of her job so she will have to do exercise and facials etc which yes is a luxury and relaxing but not something she can sac off, her nails will always need to be polished so I assume she will have several appointments a week for nails and hair and skin etc. She will have meetings/fittings with her stylist to plan outfits for the week
Then her social media is also anoth job to do/pose for

StrangeLookingParasite · 11/01/2020 20:07

As a PP said Holly has a boring personality and I agree.

I don't think it's possible to know who she is from her presenting job.

Womenwotlunch · 11/01/2020 20:16

I have never paid much attention to HW tbh.
She’s a naturally pretty lady who is good at her job ( light entertainment). She makes her job look easy and it definitely isn’t .

I can’t understand why anyone would envy a celebrity who you don’t even know

Stop comparing yourself to others
