To be slightly horrified and complain

I know my experience is unpleasant but I’m not sure if I’m overreacting here. I’m posting partly because I feel the need to share my less than satisfactory Next directory shopping experience.

Today I picked up a large Next sale order. I’d ordered a fair amount of PJ’s (amongst other things) for choice as my current nightwear is getting rather threadbare.

Whilst going through the bags I noticed a used panty liner amongst the items that had been opened.

I only use reusable cloth sanitary wear. It certainly wasn’t mine. There has been no one at the house who could be responsible for its presence. When my dd returned home from school I asked her if she knew where it come from, but she was equally as horrified and bemused as me. She 100 per cent says that it isn’t hers. It hasn’t crept in at my end.

It seems possible that someone at Next has not carefully inspected return products before shipping them back out. Either that or it is at the hands of a disgruntled employee.

Do I take this further and complain to Next, or do I just write it off as one of life’s little unpleasantries?

I’m not a troll. I’ve been on MN for years.

Wasn’t there a story that was all over social media of someone finding a vibrator in an online order? Or may have been on here. Can’t remember what shop.

Definitely have a whinge, it’s gross.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/01/2020 23:17

Ewwww. FFS. How rank.

EngagedAgain · 10/01/2020 23:25

I would think you will have to do something about it, ie send the whole lot back if nothing else, and presumably you would have to give a reason (I never shop online, so don't know). I have had two incidences which isn't many I suppose. One was being about to try on a pair of trousers, and luckily noticing a skid mark, and a pack of knickers with stains in the gusset 😟. Couldn't work out why as the company has no underwear returns policy. As it was some months later I opened said pack I just threw them away.

Charliecatpaws · 10/01/2020 23:34

Not quite the same but I sent fir a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses and collected them from store, I opened the parcel when I returned to my car and the case was empty! No apology or anything 🤷🏼‍♀️

Prevegen4U · 10/01/2020 23:42

I would return the entire order, tell them why and never order from them again. I'd also phone and email them.

Threefaries · 11/01/2020 12:54

Rachelfromfriends1, some people really are grim 🤢
Charliecatpaws, did they not replace them?

Thank you for the responses. I have sent an email to the Next complaints department. I have spent the morning cleaning my bedroom 😷

Tell them op.
Something like that was not accidentally put in there.
They need to know and they need to send you a fresh parcel out.
Grim.

£100 million Now!!!!!!!

Walkerbean16 · 11/01/2020 19:40

Really wish i didn't open this whilst eating Envy

Fr0g · 11/01/2020 19:55

That's vile!
call them first, or email and say that you'll be returning the full delivery, and exactly why.
Hope there were no sale items that you were really pleased to have pre-pantylinergate!
I'm not sure about Next, but a lot of companies outsource returns and order fulfilment, so if no one tells them....

If not much satisfaction from that, their twitter account @nextofficial looks reasonably active - so complaining there may get results.

RoseWines · 11/01/2020 20:53

Just write it off as one of life’s unpleasantries
Thats insaneeeeee

eminencegrise · 11/01/2020 20:59

Gross! I'd never shop from them again.

toomanyleggings · 11/01/2020 21:00

Yuck I was annoyed that I got a dress off them that was missing the belt but you win!

CameronG · 11/01/2020 21:13

This happened to someone I know with a well known high street brand. She got £500 compensation

How do they know it’s not theirs though? I mean what’s to stop me from putting one of my used tampons beside my opened next order, photographing it and claiming my compo

latheritup · 11/01/2020 21:36

That's hideous

Maiahee · 11/01/2020 21:39

I once bought something from Next to wear that day, tried it on, bought it then in the first few months of wear noticed STRONG BO on the armpits. It was really unpleasant Envy Must have been from previous occupant

user1471449295 · 11/01/2020 21:45

Definitely complain. They need to improve their returns inspections before just sending them out

Mamawingingit1234 · 11/01/2020 21:53

That is vile! I have 2 kids so I have a high tolerance but that make me boke!

annualleavepurchase · 11/01/2020 21:53

@Maiahee and you only noticed the smell after a couple of months? I think it might have been you...

Threefaries · 11/01/2020 22:10

I’m so sorry Walkerbean16

CameronG. This is the thing, I can not prove it. They can only go on my word.
