I started speaking to a man last year who I ended up dating for a bit, but I called it off because I moved to another city. All amicable.

He then started speaking to me before Christmas, and we resumed seeing each other, because I moved to a different (closer) location to work.

He would send multiple messages in one go and I would reply whenever I was available, definitely in 2 days.

He does the same.

However, this week he was been sending replies to the messages I sent last week sporadically. Say there was 15 messages

• He sent 5 Monday
• 5 Tuesday
• 2 Wednesday
• 3 Thursday

... and waiting for a reply to the last 6!

He says he's very busy with work - but so I am.

AIBU to think sending out messages one by one is a bit odd?

How often do you see each other. Face to face. I think if I had 2 hours to spare I'd rather spend it physically with my bf (fella I'm dating, whatever) then texting him.

Although maybe I'm the wrong demographic and relationships these days are purely virtual?

Us older folks / older folks I know use actually calling or maybe email.

Younger friends & relatives / groups use what's app or Facebook.

No one I know of any age uses text messages for long typing chats over multiple days.

I wouldn't be surprised if I'm older than you, OP. I have DC older than the 24 year old poster above me so I'm of a different generation. All my text messages are short & to the point. If it needs to be longer I call, or sometimes email.

I texted this girl on Monday
She replied on the Tuesday
I was re-reading them by Wednesday
And on Thursday and Friday and Saturday
We texted on Sunday

If the 15 messages are all one or two sentences, he could reply in one session. If the messages are all long, I don't see the problem with spacing out the replies if he's super busy. Tbh, I don't even read messages when I'm busy. I'll leave them till I can respond.

How do you know people are re-reading your messages? I've never been aware of that... I'm 39 though so clearly past it..!

Sorry OP but your texting habits are weird. That’s not the point though, the point is the frequency of texting. Surely in the early stages of dating you should be constantly texting?
