Car parking with diagram

I'm parked up in this space in diagram 1, excuse the back of envelope job.

When I arrived there was a car and van already here, I parked next two the car so the van had ample space to get out. I didn't park next to the van because I knew the car park would fill up and I'd get blocked in. There are no marked spaces. If I'd parked next to the van I'd have blocked him in.

Then, diagram 2, another car arrives (Ca) and parks, closely followed b6 another car (Cb), the van is now blocked in. At this point the van driver gets out, stands next to my window and shouts that I have blocked him and should go and park somewhere else.

I could of parked where Cb is now parked but didn't as it's poor visibility when pulling out because the wall is six foot and you can't easily see what is coming from that direction and it's a busy road. Car Cb will be going soon as they (and I) park here daily and they pick up somebody at this time and then go (they have gone as I am typing this), the van is no longer blocked in and they are still sitting parked up in their van.

I have locked my door and am ignoring him. He intermittently beeps his horn and shouts for me to move my fucking car.

Who is being unreasonable? I could move my car now and block in car Ca but after the van drivers behaviour I'm not moving anywhere.

The car has blocked him in, knob. How is parking alongside him doing anything wrong?? I'd do what you're doing. Wouldn't move at all.

my2bundles · 09/01/2020 15:07

Going by the diagram it looks like you are blocking him . I would have parked where one of the other cars later parked.

cultkid · 09/01/2020 15:09

Yes you blocked him in 🤭 move!

Seeline · 09/01/2020 15:09

What sort of car park is it? Are all using it going to the same place eg place of work? Seems a very strange set up!

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 09/01/2020 15:10

So CB has left, and the van can get out, but he's still yelling at you to move?

Looks like a weird car park tbh.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 09/01/2020 15:11

Don’t be ridiculous. From the diagram I can see why he’s pissed off, as all three of you have lead to the blocking in, albeit unintentionally in your case. Just pull your car out and let the driver get on with his day. It’s a petty and childish response by you.

JKScot4 · 09/01/2020 15:12

If you’ve ‘parked’ why are you sitting in the car? Just pull out, let him out and park once he has moved. Don’t be a twat.

memberofseven · 09/01/2020 15:12

You've blocked him in. And when he was completely blocked in why didn't you just move and then repark?

mommydragon · 09/01/2020 15:12

Car C should've parked next to the van or any vehicle that was originally parked next to the van and thus setting the tone for vehicles parking adjacent to each other rather than behind another vehicle.

JKScot4 · 09/01/2020 15:13

Oh I see, you are school run mums 🙄
Most ppl want to strangle you.

safariboot · 09/01/2020 15:13

Thinking a bit, I'm going with YABU. The van driver's a dickhead though.

It seems like a shit situation all round. But I think everyone parking there needs to understand you might need to move to unblock someone else, even if it's not your fault they were blocked. Until you can get some proper space markings in.

You could have told the van driver that you parked before those two (Ca and Cb) while moving your car out of the way.

zoobincan · 09/01/2020 15:13

You have blocked him in. You are the car in the way. How can you not see that even with a diagram

OldEvilOwl · 09/01/2020 15:14

Why not just move to let him out?

Chocolatemouse84 · 09/01/2020 15:15

I'm really confused but if you parked next to the car then you were already blocking the van in? As the wall is behind the van and you are blocking him swinging out?

safariboot · 09/01/2020 15:16

Wait, I reread, you're still IN your car? In that case YABVVU to not move out the way! It'll take you 30 seconds to help someone else at virtually no inconvenience to yourself. I misread at first and thought you were in your home/office.

Mummyshark2018 · 09/01/2020 15:16

If you arrived before ca and cb then you should've parked where ca currently is. I don't understand why you didn't?

Sirzy · 09/01/2020 15:18

I think you have parked in a daft place and should have left a clear route out

Chocolatemouse84 · 09/01/2020 15:18

I think you should have gone where cb is, leaving the middle free like a gangway for the van to get out.

JKScot4 · 09/01/2020 15:18

@safariboot
No doubt on the school run waiting on her darlings.

ButtonMoonLoon · 09/01/2020 15:19

Surely you could just pull back and let him out? Otherwise what dk you expect him to do?

SoupDragon · 09/01/2020 15:19

You're blocking him in. Don't be an arse.

BruceAndNosh · 09/01/2020 15:19

You're being petty. Move your bloody car

adaline · 09/01/2020 15:24

You're blocking him in.

Why are you being so petulant?

dappledsunshine · 09/01/2020 15:27

Yes sorry op you are obviously blocking him in, how can you not see that 🤷‍♀️

BoomBoomsCousin · 09/01/2020 15:28

Since you are there and can let hm out YABVU to sit in your car and keep him blocked in.

The van driver and the first Car, C were both a bit stupid to park the way they did, but having come across them parked that way you should have parked further over close to Cb’s current position, not right next to C. In parking next to C you made it v. Difficult for the van to get out anyway and you made it more likely that another car would come and park without seeing that they would block the van in.

Alternatively, find a better car park if possible - that one looks like a mess waiting to happen.
