Urgh! Most definately not a period troll!... But literally just been to the toilet whilst on 2nd day of period (realised no toilet roll - thanks everyone else in household for not replacing it 🙄). Loads running through my head from work today, so just auto pilot figured I'd leave tampon in place whilst flumped downstairs to pick up new rolls. Wandered back to backroom sighing, sat back down, replaced tampon, and then 'gaaah! gaaah! The did I actually remove last one question?!'. Had a good rummage 😳 but now laid back in bed freaking out about toxic shock syndrome. I'm at work at 8am so no chance of an emergency appt at the GP, and frankly questioning did I remove it or not? Obviously not a question anyone else can answer! 😒 I'm just feeling very unhappy currently. I doubt I'll sleep well tonight, and feel like the world's biggest moron!

Sounds scary for you! Get it checked out! As a side note, I really don't like tampons (for me, don't care about other people's use) and I changed to mooncups! They're amazing xxxx

WildfirePonie · 07/01/2020 20:33

This is why I quit using tampons! Hope you've got it out by now.

Drabarni · 07/01/2020 20:34

I'm sure somebody has said this, please go directly to A&E if you have/ develop flu like symptoms and/or temperature.
Many years ago a school nurse, saved my life. Luckily I was in the right place at the right time.
I was advised against ever using them again, do be vigilant OP. Thanks

Mooey89 · 07/01/2020 20:38

@Moonflower12 wins the thread 😂😂

OP, do the squat trick mentioned above, and whilst you’re at it, cancel the cheque

TamingToddler · 07/01/2020 20:38

@FagAsh Me too! After a rave as a teenager, I took the tampon out, and out came two! Oops!

ThebishopofBanterbury · 07/01/2020 20:38

@doadeer in my case it was one of those really small lilette ones that had somehow got squashed quite flat. 😷

notthemum · 07/01/2020 20:43

Moonflower12 😂😂 Absolute legend.
Hope you're OK OP.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 07/01/2020 20:44

She greets me with a cheery 'And what are we retrieving from your vagina today?

Sorry but I properly snorted at that Grin

june2007 · 07/01/2020 20:46

Think I,ll stick to my cup, that has never got lost or stuck yet. (Not saying can,t happen.). Less risk of tss too.

Biancadelrioisback · 07/01/2020 20:47

Yikes I've done this.
I noticed a smell which just grew stronger and lots of smelly, water discharge. Had no idea what was going on until I was "inspired" and had a route around and found a tampon. Period had finished the week before. Tampon had turned sideways and the string seemed to be above it so had nothing to grab, also short fingers. Spent nearly an hour trying to get it out and when I did the stench was unbelievable.
I went to the walk in after ringing 111 and had to repeat what happened about 8 times to various drs and nurses.

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 07/01/2020 20:49

@Moonflower12 that's amazing 😂😂😂

SirGawain · 07/01/2020 20:56

Yes the WPC was Casualty and is the reason I've never worn a tampon in my whole life.
Casualty is neither real nor realistic.

DoveGreylove · 07/01/2020 20:58

Epic thread.

OP what happened? Did you find anything up there?

FagAsh · 07/01/2020 21:08

@TamingToddler
Haha brilliant

I think mine may have been entwined... 1990....the summer of Love an all that ...

Thislittlepiggywentto · 07/01/2020 21:09

OP I genuinely hope you are ok. At the same time I thank you all for the amusing stories on this thread, needed those.

TheFuzzyStar · 07/01/2020 21:09

My period finished a few days ago and I had a wobble one day thinking I may have put new tampon in without removing old one. I haven’t had a root around but maybe I should 😩

FagAsh · 07/01/2020 21:10

@barbedwired
Ahh.... really?!!!
God.

rm1234 · 07/01/2020 21:14

@yearinyearout 😂.

OP - hope you find it. Get the lube out and have a good rummage

Goodnightjude1 · 07/01/2020 21:19

I’m SO glad I only ever used a tampon once in my whole life.

I’m getting a twitchy fanjo reading these....Shock

And now I’ve got that song ‘I still haven’t found what I’m looking forrrrr’ stuck in my head!

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 07/01/2020 21:20

Casualty is neither real nor realistic.
Actually, a lot of soaps/TV dramas will do storylines to increase awareness of health issues or social issues. It's why you get the "if you have been affected by any of the issues..." helplines and things afterwards.

Hope you have either found it or figured out you didn't leave it in, OP.

SoftMyrtle · 07/01/2020 21:25

I was going to say, "Get a mooncup! Then things like this won't be an issue!". Then I remembered that once I actually managed to have sex with my mooncup still in. Felt a bit weird but it took five minutes or so before I twigged what had happened... Blush

Waterlemon · 07/01/2020 21:26

On some occasions-particularly when flow has been very heavy, the tampon has slipped out whilst I was peeing/sat on the toilet. I’ve gone to change it but couldn’t feel the string, then spotted the tampon in the bowl.

Yours might have come out without you realising?

Blozza · 07/01/2020 21:38

I got one stuck the other week as I forgot to take it out before jumping on top of my OH! We were both drunk aswell, took me a few hours to realise I was on my period and forgot to take the tampon out.

OH went to bed (tried waking him) and I was on the sofa, legs wide apart digging as deep as I fucking could to find the string😂 felt like I’d fisted myself by the time I’d got it out, it was right up there and took me a couple of hours but we got there in the end. Won’t be forgetting I have one in after that experience😂

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 07/01/2020 21:39

SoftMyrtle oh my god I've done that too!!!! DH thought I was going to be sick or something I shoved him away so hard. Nope, just remembered I hadn't taken my moon up out!!! Confused

FlamingoAndJohn · 07/01/2020 21:42

I’ve had TTS.
I was sick and had diarrhoea. It’s not unlike having norovivus. Then a fever.
The first time I had it I didn’t realise what it was so wasn’t officially diagnosed, but I didn’t use tampons for about 5 years.
When I used one again I was ill within 6 hours.

Not really relevant to you op, hopefully. But I thought I might interest some on this thread.
