Gaaah! Potential lost tampon horror 😳 waay tmi

Urgh! Most definately not a period troll!... But literally just been to the toilet whilst on 2nd day of period (realised no toilet roll - thanks everyone else in household for not replacing it 🙄). Loads running through my head from work today, so just auto pilot figured I'd leave tampon in place whilst flumped downstairs to pick up new rolls. Wandered back to backroom sighing, sat back down, replaced tampon, and then 'gaaah! gaaah! The did I actually remove last one question?!'. Had a good rummage 😳 but now laid back in bed freaking out about toxic shock syndrome. I'm at work at 8am so no chance of an emergency appt at the GP, and frankly questioning did I remove it or not? Obviously not a question anyone else can answer! 😒 I'm just feeling very unhappy currently. I doubt I'll sleep well tonight, and feel like the world's biggest moron!

This makes me clench my legs shut, I’ve never been a fan of tampon but my friend had a bit break out that was stuck and said it smelt horrendous

oh I've had this horror in my misspent youth. I went to my aunt for help. She told me to do the squatting thing, which I did for hours, to no avail. I rummaged until I could almost feel my ears, but nothing. She then blithely shouted (yep, out of the window!) on a neighbor who was a nurse - and had very long tongs or tweezers. can't say that I actually saw them because being told that, I hot footed it to the loo and brute forced that disgusting thing out of hiding. It was horrible. Mortifying. But still glad it was gone!

then go back a few days later, due to a chest infection. She greets me with a cheery 'And what are we retrieving from your vagina today?'

I must have the world's shortest vagaina (or longest fingers) as I can feel everything easily and there's no space for a tampon to get lost up there. I thought that was normal but clearly not the case.

If it was full it might have dropped in the loo?

On a long haul flight once, heavy period, joys of endometriosis 😖 got to our villa, went for a wee and to replace tampon and out two came and I was horrified I'd managed to fit 2 up there without realising 😂 never had them in for weeks though, I really can't understand how it happens as I can always feel that I've got one in.

I couldn't remember if I had taken my tampon out one time (many years ago,) and was scared to put another one in (had light-ish periods as I was on the pill at the time.) So I went to see the nurse, and she had a peep with a torch, and had a bit of a feel, and she confirmed it was all empty up there.... Except for what SHOULD be there.

DO go to your GP tomorrow OP. (If you haven't found said tampon...) And ask if you can see a nurse urgently. She will help you.

If anyone does have to have a retainer and very smelly tampon removed at the GP then top tip for disposal- get the Dr/nurse to put it straight into a urine pot and screw the lid tight.

If they are pit in the clinical waste bin then the smell lingers and I can confirm it is just about the worst smell there is (worse than necrotic body parts or infected leg ulcers).

It often means the clinical room can’t actually be used for an hour or more afterwards as the smell is so strong if it isn’t contained immediately.

About 8 years ago I had sudden, fairly heavy bleeding straight after sex...never happened before.

I went to the GP the next morning who did an internal only to hear her go ‘hang on...I think there’s something in here!’

It was a tampon (a very squashed and deformed tampon) and it must have been ‘lost’ at least six weeks as I was midway through my cycle and hadn’t used tampons on my last period.

The smell was stomach churning when it came out and it’s hands down the most mortified I’ve ever been. The GP assured me she sees at least a couple of cases a month of this though so it’s not that unusual.

Suddenly started getting masses of urinary infections in my mid 20s went on 2 lots of antibiotics..couldn't understand why I was getting them all of a sudden. Had sex a few weeks later and partner said he "felt something" it was an old tampon that had been there for about 4 weeks!! will never forget the terrible smell when I "retrieved" it ewwww

I’ve heard of this happening to others but I once had to have a hideous rummage around for a condom

I thought I hadn’t removed one, went to put of hours and I had! No idea what happened to it 😆 maybe it came out while was on the loo and I flushed it?
