To think that comparing breast cancer survivors to men is disgusting

I kid you not - the Scottish government in their Gender Reform Act consultation is arguing that because women with “non normative bodies” such as women with mastectomies share spaces where women are undressed and vulnerable, then other “non normative women’s bodies” (ie: men with penis and testicles) shouLd also be included.

Oh, and of course a nice bit of homophobia saying that because lesbians are allowed to use women’s spaces then straight men should be too.

From the SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT - not some loony on tumblr

Disgusting and sad at the same time.

HumphreyCobblers · 06/01/2020 20:03

That is appalling.

PapayaCoconut · 06/01/2020 20:06

They're really tying themselves up on knots pandering to this bullshit. I don't understand why! Woke points? "Right side of history"? Scared of the trans lobby? All at the expense of half the population. Wtf?

Deckthehallswithlotsofcake · 06/01/2020 20:17

that is so offensive! Are they really that stupid?

EmeraldShamrock · 06/01/2020 20:18

Disguisting low lifes. Angry
How can people fight this.

Deckthehallswithlotsofcake · 06/01/2020 20:18

You know people with dunning-kruger syndrome are so stupid that they don't realize they are stupid. I really think that this is what is going on here.

To be honest, "loony" wouldn't be an inaccurate description of the SNP.

Isthisridix · 06/01/2020 20:26

Link?

Chesntoots · 06/01/2020 22:25

I've been ranting about shit like this for years and been basically ignored and eye rolled at.

Luckily(?) this bollocks is now starting to affect people like their daughters/granddaughters/ wives etc and I will forever be thankful to Jo Swinson for making people sit up and start to ask questions about this (not sure that's what she was hoping for!).

This is fucking offensive. There is not one part of this that can be excused. I'm not sure what can be done at that level though...

Copperleaves · 06/01/2020 22:27

It's unreasonable not to include actual quote or link

Bracknellite · 06/01/2020 22:52

What Copperleaves said

Chuffit · 06/01/2020 22:55

Disgusting, offensive and downright bloody dangerous!
Shame on these idiots.

BonnyConnie · 06/01/2020 22:59

How is having a mastectomy non-normative. It’s still a female body if you remove some of all of the breast tissue. Bloody hell, that’s very mean!

MumW · 06/01/2020 23:19

Perhaps we should start naming "Women's Spaces" as "Non-Penis spaces" to circumvent their arguments.

It's abhorrent that we have to use the male member to describe female only areas but you can't fight crazy by being sensible.
Unfortunately, this would exclude genuine pre-surgery trans women but my female instinct tells me that they will probably understand.

For the record, I am happy to share my spaces with anyone who is genuinely body dismorphic and has totally embraced the sisterhood.

TARSCOUT · 06/01/2020 23:44

Would love a.link for this please

Bracknellite · 10/01/2020 23:00

Four days, no link. I call bullshit

DoubleFunMum · 10/01/2020 23:11

I don't see the problem. What is it you find so offensive about penises and testicles OP? Here's a thought, maybe not every person with different private parts to yours is predatory in some way. Why would you assume a gay woman was less of a threat to you than a man? I just don't get it - live and let live, I say! If I'm going to see naked bodies in a communal change space it makes no difference to me what gender they are, or what their sexual orientation is.

Copperleaves · 10/01/2020 23:20

Gay women are less of a threat to us than men, you silly person. Hmm

pallisers · 10/01/2020 23:21

Do you actually live in the real world or in an ivory tower? I presume this is an (ill-conceived) joke???

Russellbrandshair · 10/01/2020 23:23

Are you serious? Ok- google how many rapes/ murders: sexual assaults have been committed by lesbians then compare that number with male perpetrators. I think you’ll find quite a large difference

pallisers · 10/01/2020 23:23

What is it you find so offensive about penises and testicles OP?

but in case you are real - what I find offensive is the desire of their owners (the penises that is) to shove them into me without my consent.

I go to a women only gym where there are a LOT of lesbians (recommended to me by my lesbian friend actually). I love it. It feels warm and welcoming and inclusive of everyone - the fit, the unfit, the old, the young, the lesbians butch or not, the whatevers. feels nothing like a male gym.

CallofDoodee · 10/01/2020 23:25

That's nice dear.

Meanwhile, there are lots of women out there who don't want to see a cock and balls in the changing room and who will, for many very valid reasons, not want to get changed with someone who has a cock and balls.

GrolliffetheDragon · 10/01/2020 23:27

Easy enough to find the link - www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/5149172/snp-breast-cancer-patients-id-row-mastectomies/

Wingedserpentfliesbynight · 10/01/2020 23:30

I’m a gay woman. I’m not any kind of threat to other women in changing rooms or anywhere else. I’m not looking at you or your body. It’s not a novelty to me. I have your body, I see your body all the time, in the mirror, or with my wife, in spaces where other women are. I’m getting changed,
That’s all.
