Friend has just revealed that when she makes a stew/curry/casserole, anything that can be put in the oven for a few hours and cook on low heat, she would do that and go out for a few hours.

I can’t imagine doing that, anything could happen. What if you got caught up, run over/injured honestly anything could happen and nobody would know you have the oven on 😳.

OP posts:
Aaarrgghhh · 04/01/2020 23:47

I don’t even leave the washing machine on when I’m out. I’d be worrying if I left the oven on but I realise I’m probably over cautious?

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:48

As this thread illustrates, sometimes the most unexpected things can ignite.

Agreed GrinGrin brilliant comment!

crustycrab · 04/01/2020 23:50

Wow. What's up @Dearymeop?

Confused
Veterinari · 04/01/2020 23:50

What exactly do you think is the risk?

Washing machines and driers cause fires, not ovens

Dearymeop · 04/01/2020 23:51

well I've tagged @Mascarponeandwine so shall we wait for her to answer?
And you don’t think this comment is rude and patronising?

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:52

@crustycrab I'd hazard a guess at too much wine...... charming isn't she/he?

PurpleDaisies · 04/01/2020 23:53

@Dearymeop spingly was asking a direct question to the other poster. You had no way to answer it. It was a reasonable response. You are overreacting massively.

crustycrab · 04/01/2020 23:54

No, I don't think it's rude. In fact it was pretty sensible because it was in response to you saying that obviously marscapone doesn't turn those things off.

Actually, she did answer and you were wrong. She turns them all off bar the fridge 🤷🏽‍♀️

crustycrab · 04/01/2020 23:55

Whatever it is spingly it's Confused. FWIW I'm sure you're no slag Grin

ClappyFlappy · 04/01/2020 23:55

Even if it was “rude and patronising” it hardly justifies calling someone a cunt and a slag Confused

Dearymeop · 04/01/2020 23:56

How? Surely my response was a generic response I.e no people don’t turn their fridges and freezers off because it would be a huge waste of food but at least if they turn everything else off but the fridge, it’s risk limitation.
@spingly clearly thought she’d caught the other poster out; a ‘gotcha’ moment so she had hoped but actually she was just completely devoid of common sense.
I answered her question and she didn’t like it so spoke to me like I shouldn’t have even posted.

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:57

@crustycrab I'm not a cunt either Grin! Such utterly women shaming words though....

theoriginalmadambee · 04/01/2020 23:58

🧯🧯🧯

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:58

@Dearymeop everyone thinks your wrong except..... YOU!

Dearymeop · 04/01/2020 23:58

Actually, she did answer and you were wrong. She turns them all off bar the fridge

But I was right because I said that people can’t turn off everything (you can’t turn off the fridge all the time) but even if they can turn off everything but the fridge and freezer, at least it’s still lowering the risk of a fire even if not 100% of electrical items are turned off. So there we go

Dearymeop · 05/01/2020 00:00

I’m sure she doesn’t because you can’t really avoid having those on so I’m sure she meant she just turns everything else off to minimise the risk of a fire
This was the original post which clearly shows that I was correct, people don’t turn their fridges off even if they turn everything else off. Smile

Dearymeop · 05/01/2020 00:00

@spingly see my answer was correct and useful Smile

crustycrab · 05/01/2020 00:02

You conveniently forgetting the boiler and the hob?

I make that 2-1 to spingly. But you lose your point for the vile abuse.

crustycrab · 05/01/2020 00:04

Conveniently forgetting the boiler and the hob to prove you're right would be.....gaslighting Grin taking us back to needing a firehose.

Dearymeop · 05/01/2020 00:04

Haha got you there. That’s exactly what I thought so @spingly you owe me a massive apology frankly. Now you can all piss off because I was right and you were wrong Smile Ta ra

Aroundnabout1 · 05/01/2020 00:07

Leaving gas ovens on when they go out. Wow. I would think that would invalidate your house insurance?

spingly · 05/01/2020 00:07

@spingly see my answer was correct and useful

Do you mean this answer? @Dearymeop

spingly no need to be such a bitch and snap at me. Anyone can post in response to anyone else?? Daft cow

I can't quote your other quote where you call me a cunt and a slag, as MNHQ have taken it down

But is it those answers you are referring to?

Read this back tomorrow when you've sobered up? A Saturday night with wine seems to be the issue here.

PurpleDaisies · 05/01/2020 00:07

see my answer was correct and useful

How was it useful? You were answering for another poster based on absolutely no personal knowledge of the situation at all.

You’re coming across as a bit deranged here.

lcarmichael · 05/01/2020 00:08

I agree it is an unnecessary comment and could be taken as patronising. Also to ask someone whether they unplug their freezer is a nobrainer answer patronising question.

Dearymeop · 05/01/2020 00:10

@lcarmichael finally someone else with common sense. Thank you.

Btw MNHQ removed the comment to ‘take a look at it’ because I reported it twice to have it taken down.
