Friend has just revealed that when she makes a stew/curry/casserole, anything that can be put in the oven for a few hours and cook on low heat, she would do that and go out for a few hours.

I can’t imagine doing that, anything could happen. What if you got caught up, run over/injured honestly anything could happen and nobody would know you have the oven on 😳.

@Mascarponeandwine no problem, I understand.

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:32

spingly I didn’t even have a go at you for@Dearymeop get help you need it, that's totally outrageous!

PurpleDaisies · 04/01/2020 23:32

Cunt and slag are deeply misogynistic insults. Maybe choose something better @Dearymeop...

cheezy · 04/01/2020 23:33

Am wondering now whether I SHOULD be more anxious about these things.... I charge my phone overnight in my bed - is that bad? Crown Confused

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:34

@Dearymeop last post from you was outrageous, get help you need it!

I'm a cunt and a slag..... for saying let a poster answer a question I directed to them. What do you do when something serious happens in your life?

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:35

@cheezy I'm like you, I'm also the same with security and think others are OTT, but maybe not?

Dearymeop · 04/01/2020 23:35

@spingly because you were so rude. I wasn’t rude to you when I answered your question. Yeah it was directed at someone in particular but I was just answering before that poster came back to respond. That’s what happens in a thread- people can respond to anyone ??

Dearymeop · 04/01/2020 23:36

What I responded back to you was a fair and common sense answer and it’s not like the other poster couldn’t respond as well? So rude

Mascarponeandwine · 04/01/2020 23:37

Charging anything with a Li-ion battery is a risk. In bed means that you’re in more trouble quicker, before the smoke alarms go off.

PurpleDaisies · 04/01/2020 23:38

You’re the one slinging insults here @Dearymeop

Calling other posters rude looks a bit ridiculous.

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:38

You've had a vile awful misogynistic revolting response calling me a cunt and a slag and now you're blaming me...

It's like those men, if you hadn't said thatI wouldn't have hit you! You made me do it...

You're awful and no I don't deserve to be called either a cunt or a slag.

Stop tagging me and go to bed @Dearymeop

As this thread illustrates, sometimes the most unexpected things can ignite.

Dangerfloof · 04/01/2020 23:40

Unattended cooking is the leading cause of household fires
I agree vehemently, but to prove a point that no one has to leave the house, the only house fire I was ever involved with was from a chip pan. With my mother in charge. All I remember is being bundled out of the house pretty quickly and a new kitchen had to be fitted.
For those that turn everything off even fridge/freezer/tv/sky box/surround sound/radio/kettle etc?
And the only other fire I was tangentially involved with was a neighbour. I had seen smoke coming from his roof, assumed it was steam from his boiler. A week later when I knew he was away and still smoke puffing out. I called the emergency services. Turned out something related to his TV was smouldering away for days.

beverlymarsh · 04/01/2020 23:40

Well, that escalated...

Dearymeop · 04/01/2020 23:41

@spingly you spoke down to me basically ignoring what I said and basically told me to be quiet as if I was a child. Who do you think you are?! Forums are open places you know, you don’t control this thread. If someone wants to answer a question in a general way, how dare you patronise ?!

isabellerossignol · 04/01/2020 23:42

As an outsider reading a conversation between two other people, I didn't see rudeness until the insults started. And even if Spinglys comment did feel like it was 'snapping' (although it didn't seem snappy to me) the level of vitriol she is receiving is a very disproportionate response.

crustycrab · 04/01/2020 23:42

You've got it all wrong op. The washing machine is much much more dangerous to leave on unattended

Mascarponeandwine · 04/01/2020 23:42

@Dangerfloof yes we turn all of that off except the fridge

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:43

Read @isabellerossignol comment @Dearymeop , thank you @isabellerossignol

Dearymeop · 04/01/2020 23:44

@spingly maybe next time you’ll think twice about being so patronising and bitchy. Why the fuck couldn’t you just read my comment and either ignore it or respond to what I said instead of basically telling me to shut up and let someone else speak. That’s not the point of a fucking forum is it

lcarmichael · 04/01/2020 23:45

Wow. First world problems eh?? Maybe just post on facebook to let everyone know you have turned your oven on...
Seriously though my friend's uncle's half brother actually did turn their oven on and this all happened 5 minutes after he left the house.

snickers69 · 04/01/2020 23:46

Brilliant comment. You can’t be to careful.

user1469830006 · 04/01/2020 23:47

I don't leave the oven on but I cook food in the slow cooker when I'm at work. I leave dishwasher and washing machine on when I go out but never the tumble dryer
