The new Mary Poppins is terrible

I’m just watching the new Mary Poppins. I know, knowbody else can be Mary Poppins like Julie Andrews- she is a legend! I didn’t expect Emily blunt to be to her standards, this is absolutely terrible. Sadly, I do not rate Emily blunt In this at all. Has anybody else seen it??

I loved it. I thought it was very well made. Loved the way they tied it to the original , eg the tuppence paying off the loan, and the appearance of Dick van dyke. It was great!

I loved it. Didn't want to see it at all and thought it was great. Wait until you find out what the tuppence from the first one did!!
And I believe it is an entirely separate book so not a Disney made up follow on.

Agree about generations. We saw it with our DC and my parents, all enjoyed it together. So I'd say it must be a matter of preferences rather than it being bad.

Jesus people have been complaining about Dick Van Dykes accent for years.... of course this is MN so we must absolutely hate everything. I thought it was perfectly fine....loved Linn-Manuel although he can pretty much do no wrong in my eyes anyway.

I just watched it for the 2nd time and loved it!

I tried watching it when sky released it Christmas Day. I couldn't get in to it, really thought it was crap compared to the first. I was glad dick van dyke was in it though.

I found the original really boring but loved the new one.

I agree op! I thought it was appalling. She seems harsh, snooty and the accent is dreadful. It's strange, even though Emily is a Brit, the accent sounds like an American doing the English accent very badly!

It was much better than I expected. But even Mary Poppins has to do sexy these days, which is a bit tiresome. She's a great performer but I'd rather they'd made something else.

Oh yes the weird burlesque scene..the whole film was just jarring.

Snooty and a bit vain is true to the spirit of the books though.

I gave up as it was dreadful !

I’ve been trying to be positive about it but I just can’t, I’ve been watching it in 5 minute instalments as I keep watching it and thinking this is pants and turn it off and go back to it later in the day or the next.

I got as far as as 30 mins in total and that was enough. Some films should just be left alone, and this is a prime example.

Loved it. Thrilled it’s now on demand tv. We’ve watched it a few times over the holidays.

I thought it was just me going nuts! I had to double check on google that she was a Brit as I couldn’t understand why she sounded like she was putting on a fake British accent

It was awful. I gave it a chance but it was utter shite

I thought it was dull as ditchwater personally and thought Emily Blunt was fine but given very little to do. The plot was boring and I was bored to tears. Can't complain about the performances but it seems to lack confidence and charm. The Paddington tread similar ground and were so much better and more fun and involving in comparison

We watched it three other day and I loved it!

Lin-Manuel Miranda though, can't fault this guy he is incredible.

The accent is awful yes. I didn’t love it like I thought I would but did (mostly) enjoy it. I would happily sit and watch the old one over and over but wouldn’t this!
Really didn’t like Michael and Jane though.

I loved it! Thought it was so similar in style to the original but a much sadder storyline, so emotional! Loved Emily blunt and was so surprised by all the criticism, she is supposed to sound overly posh and smug with herself!!
