To hate looking young?

Does anybody else hate looking young for their age?

I know people generally think/say it’s a good thing but I think in some cases (myself included) it really isn’t!

I’m 28 but really baby-faced and constantly mistaken for a teen. It makes me feel very self-conscious and it’s not particularly attractive- I just look weirdly child-like for my age. I envy my friends who look like actual women and don’t have to worry about looking odd in their workplace or not being taken seriously because they’re perceived as 17! I also have a child and look far too young to be their mum and feel a bit self-conscious when out and about with them.

Aibu to think that there are a lot of downsides to looking young?

I'm 33 went to boots to buy a shaver and they asked me for I.d I mean wth!
A shaver, also a scratch card in Wilkos the girl looked younger then me! It's awful I'm a childminder and people ask me if they are all mine and if so I'm to young to have so many children as I'm only 17 apparently

DC1 told her 6th form friends I was a decade younger meaning I had her at 14, they all believed her Grin

I know it gets tiresome but once the wrinkles turn up it stops!

OP had this issue when I was your age and it was so frustrating sometimes especially as I'm 4'11 so child sized, my 11yo is bigger than me. Its definitely better now I'm in my 40's and people assume I'm still in my early 30's and have just managed to do an awful lot with my life!

It's genetic for me and my dad is 70 and looks so much younger than the rest of our relatives from that generation, his partner is in her 50's and they look about the same age.

Yes, it's not just the facial thing. Also 4'11" and very slim, which doesn't help. My skin actually is still very unlined and no wrinkles but I have always hated the sun, so don't sunbathe, don't smoke or drink much and eat healthily, so that all helps. When I'm 70 I may actually feel ok about all this 😂

I'm also very vertically challenged, I am no longer a size 8 though so perhaps that helped as well as hitting mid 40s and peri menopause landing like a tonne of bricks?
