My newsfeed is dripping with so much self congratulating bs, it’s unbearable to look at! Photo of me 10 years ago.. blah blah... Been through highs and lows..blah blah...had children, discovered myself.... Ugh it’s relentless meaningless drivel! Whatever happened to wishing a happy new year and getting on with your day?! I wouldn’t dream of boring everybody with a heavily rose tinted synopsis of the last decade - who cares?!!

OP posts:

I posted this on another thread but what I have noticed is the pictures from 2009 are always the ones of them looking crap, and then a lovely filtered one beside it from now and a caption along the lines of "OMG look how much I've aged" 🙄🙄 oh feck off attention seeker, you just know you're gonna get comments saying how gorgeous you are more so than 10 years ago. I am SO tempted to comment "yeah you look awful TBF"

GlummyMcGlummerson · 01/01/2020 22:40

Also it's the same people who mysteriously check in to A&E but out no details who've also said "2019 has been a rollercoaster and some of my most difficult times for various reasons". Oh go on, tell us, you are dying to Grin

Aragog · 02/01/2020 13:39

I used no filters then or now, I never do use filters on any photographs anyway. The photograph I used from 2009 is just a nicest one I had of me and dh, same as the 2019 one. No speech, no vague messages, no check in, no fishing for comments. Just a straight forward set of two photographs on my own SM page.

ShristmasChopper · 02/01/2020 18:31

So why do you have these annoying shallow people on your social media??
You obviously don't like them so why??

Yeahnah2020 · 02/01/2020 19:11

I like the funny memes on Facebook. I’m with you OP. Can’t stand all the over the top, inspirational, # bullshit. I think it’s mental.

CactusAndCacti · 02/01/2020 19:32

I'm also not a fan of the passive aggressive "in the last 10 years I've been hurt, bruised, found out who my real friends are... 2020s are going to be me putting myself first" ones either

I hate these too, and the 'next year I will not accept bullshit' etc etc Seriously if you are having all this find new friends or be like me and have none

Sweetbabycheezits · 02/01/2020 19:46

I really liked the 10 year challenge... It was nice to see friends, some of whom had some really shit times this decade, looking happy and positive. I'd much rather that than the constant barrage of inspirational quotes, or political bullshit!

Danni12 · 02/01/2020 19:50

I have struggled to be honest seeing all of the ten year challenge posts as my marriage broke down recently. I'm not jealous, it just serves as a very sad reminder that my life has not turned out how I planned it to be.....Sad

Fishcakey · 02/01/2020 19:51

This is so why I hate FB. I think I probably do hate quite a few people on my timeline but they are family so I can't delete them!

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 02/01/2020 19:55

I have to say, most of the ones on my friends pages have been quite funny. Usually it’s just a photo of them with a really dodgy hairstyle/outfit/drunk as a skunk pose and a nice recent one. I love looking at the Communist hippies that have become suited and booted business people. 😁
