To ask where you buy decent quality bedding these days

I feel like I'm forever searching for decent quality (doesn't feel like scratchy cardboard) duvet cover sets! I've tried Wilco, Asda and Argos. They're either hideous patterns or feel really hard / scratchy.

I look in dunelm yesterday and it was all frilly or cosy over £80!!!

La redoute

Lllot5 · 29/12/2019 10:08

I like ikea bedding washes really well. I’ve had a set for must be ten years still going strong.
Wayfair pretty good too the one I bought recently is good quality but a bugger to iron unless you do it while it’s still damp.

ednclouda · 29/12/2019 10:09

'soak and sleep' they wash and dry lovely and don't go bobbly but are a bit pricey

MoobaaMoobaa · 29/12/2019 10:10

just looking at the website, They do quite a few 200+ thread. The highest is 400. good prices though.

Recently bought some large European pillowcases from Boundry Mill, Christy high thread count, they are awful as are the normal housewife p/cases.

Bought M&S Superking duvets, 2 the same (plain, high tread count) but different sizes when I tried to fit them, went back.

Bought some decorative Dorma items in Dunelm in the sale, box valence (£10.20 from over £70) and bedspread (£22 from £130), was impressed at the reductions, but too many poly mix for sheets etc

TKmaxx have some excellent items, but can be in odd designs/colours, think JL prices are now to high for the quality of products, lucky I still have covers/sheets from there from about 15 years ago still going strong.

Also bought some Linea sheets/pillowcases from HofF, brushed cotton for this winter, they are already bobbling.

Soak and sleep are very good, but I bought a load of items which are supplied to hotels and spas from another company overseas, but they dont ship to the UK, dam which I had bought more.

Cockadoodledooo · 29/12/2019 11:19

My very favourite and most comfortable brushed cotton set came from B&M bargains of all places - cost less than 20 quid (kingsize).

Do people constantly buy new bedding?

Coldhandscoldheart · 29/12/2019 15:54

I bought a duvet cover & pillowcases from Ikea to dress the house we sold, but actually they’re great, really soft, have washed well, quite thick cotton, didn’t cost that much. Really pleasantly surprised.

heath48 · 29/12/2019 15:58

Out of Eden,I owned a holiday home and got all my bed linen and towels etc. from here.

stripeypillowcase · 29/12/2019 16:01

ikea
look for 100% cotton
go for feel, not thread count

Iwasneveragoddess · 29/12/2019 16:46

Ikea

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 29/12/2019 17:40

I usually buy one new set of bedding per year. Rotating between three beds. This year DH and I got a new set, last year it was DD next year will be DS.

tillytrotter1 · 29/12/2019 17:44

Our current covers and pillow cases are from Laura Ashley and we've been very pleased with them. The fitted sheets are Egyptian cotton fron Sainsburys. When we lived nearer we used to buy the children's bedding from IKEA but that was a long time ago, they were a very hard-wearing cotton.

Jumblebee · 29/12/2019 17:48

Tkmaxx. I bought 1000 thread count fitted sheets for our bed and they are amazing. They just feel so luxurious! Bought 2 new duvet covers there as well and I always get excited when it's bed change day and I get to use my nice freshly washed sheets. With my duck down duvet, my bed is like a big hug 🤗

Atilathehunter · 29/12/2019 17:49

I buy all mine from White Company. They do good sales where it’s not too pricey.

woodhill · 30/12/2019 14:51

@BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou

What do you do with the older stuff though?

MissConductUS · 30/12/2019 14:55

Lands End has lovely bedding but I wouldn't buy it unless they have a 30-40% promotional discount on offer. Fortunately they have those very frequently.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 30/12/2019 15:35

I’m involved in amateur dramatics so, if suitable, the old ones can be used for costumes (especially Panto Dame) or drop cloths for backstage working, that sort of thing.

CrowleysBentley · 30/12/2019 17:42

I only replace when current stuff starts looking tatty. We all have 2 sets of decent bed linen which I rotate, and they get dried in the tumble dryer, they last years (though I do need a new fitted sheet as bastard cat used his claws to climb up on the bed the other night and left three neat slits in my sheet with his claws). My current bedding is probably about 7 years old, though I do stick with white for my bed, so a wash with a whitener now and then keeps it looking decent. I did also buy an extra set of fleece bedding and brushed cotton sheets for DS and DD for Christmas as our place does get cold at night in the winter.

Old, worn out stuff I cut into squares for using as dusters and cleaning cloths. They also last years!

FlamingoAndJohn · 30/12/2019 17:44

Out of Eden.
They are a hotel suppliers but they sell to the public.

Frankola · 30/12/2019 19:25

IKEA actually do some great bedding and it's out so you can feel the set first lol

Makin79 · 15/01/2020 09:42

I order online with Vision Support Services. They sell to hotels so the quality is great, if you look at their 'Hotel Pure Luxury Range' you can pick up smaller pack sizes and you get a discount if you sign up as a member.
