AIBU to think that this dude doesn't deserve such a title?
Unless it's indicative of the Royal Family not giving two hoots about the lives of the poorest?

What's ironic is that a lot of their charities deal with the fall-out of his policies.

Who decides on these honours lists?

They made/making waste-of-space zac Goldsmith a lord. At least IDSmith worked for 3 nanoseconds, what has Goldsmith done except hooking up with the Rothschild? Every attempt in politics has been frostily received.

Graphista · 28/12/2019 05:10

If you remotely think the royal family gives one tiny shit about the poor you're deluded.

They don't care as long as there's no revolution and they aren't at risk either physically or of losing their position. That's all they care about.

It's why they daren't say what they really think about most things related to this and why they have advisors on this stuff.

They know such accolades will be "unpopular" in certain quarters but they also know - somewhat unfortunately - that the worst that will happen is people having a bit of a moan about it!

Personally I'm fed up with the British public just accepting this shite. Hell voting for more of it!

endofthelinefinally · 28/12/2019 05:12

I doubt the Queen has any say in any of it, to be fair.

Bottler · 28/12/2019 05:12

It makes a sham of their charitable shite to be honest.

OP posts:

Btw, he just about got in. His opponent got c28k votes and him c29k votes. Hardly a roaring success is he.

They should stick to shooting game and such then and not patronise the rest of us with how charitable they are.

IDS was for many years head of a think tank called Centre for Social Justice (dunno if he still is) which spent a lot of time looking at how to relieve poverty etc. I think fixing society is something he genuinely cares about.

bettybattenburg · 28/12/2019 05:23

I think fixing society is something he genuinely cares about.

Perhaps he does but his methods of fixing society are not necessarily the kindest.

ZaraW · 28/12/2019 05:28

I think fixing society is something he genuinely cares about.*

The Architect of UC couldn't care less about the poor.

nuttynutjob · 28/12/2019 05:35

fixing the society he genuinely cares about

Yes, survival of the fittest aka Social Darwinism

Bottler · 28/12/2019 05:36

Well his think tank clearly decided that people on benefits didn't deserve enough money to survive on. Not the kindest soul is he?

The Queen will have been told who to include by the government. They're not her personal choices, or the list would be entirely racing people (and probably horses) 😆

Everythingnotsaved · 28/12/2019 05:46

Ian Duncan Smith is, quite frankly and apologies in advance for the bad language. an absolute CUNT and has removed the welfare safety net for millions causing a rise in food bank use and destitution for many.

Pixxie7 · 28/12/2019 06:05

Apparently the way to get recognition is to screw people over. I would like to think it’s not the queen but not so sure,

ddl1 · 28/12/2019 06:35

Uggggghhhhh! He is one of my most hated politicians. It's not really the decision of the royals; they just do what the government tells them. If it really was the Queen, she would probably knight lots of dogs and horses, who would be preferable to IDS!

Bottler · 28/12/2019 06:41

I'd rather a horse's arse was knighted.

A knighthood no less? FFS.

It actually made me feel physically sick that the man who developed universal credit has been made a knight. How fucking gallant is it to introduce a system that creates such hardship?

Whatever your political leanings you cannot deny that this system is one of the most punitive and cruellest in both it's design and administration.

xJodiex · 28/12/2019 07:24

I guess that's just what happens now, you get rewarded for helping kill off the sick and poor - cutting down the population is a top goal, it seems Angry

churchandstate · 28/12/2019 07:28

When thinking of this little prick, I always go to the words of John Major:

“Iain Duncan Smith is trying to reform benefits. I truly wish him well. But it is enormously complicated and unless he is very lucky, which he may not be, or a genius, which the last time I looked was unproven, he may get some of it wrong."

😂

For services to fake CV's:

Duncan Smith's biography on the Conservative Party website and his entry in Who's Who originally stated that he had studied at the University of Perugia in Italy. A BBC investigation in 2002 found this statement to be untrue.[7] In response to the BBC story, Duncan Smith's office stated that he had in fact attended the Università per Stranieri, a different institution in Perugia, for a year. He did not complete his course of study, sit exams, or gain any qualifications there. Duncan Smith's biography, on the Conservative Party website, also stated that he was "educated at Dunchurch College of Management" but his office later confirmed that he did not gain any qualifications there either, that he completed six separate courses lasting a few days each, adding up to about a month in total.
