AIBU to think that 8 is the only way? Why would you do it any other way!

We were taught that we write from left to right & pen strokes must be downwards....something to do with how ink quills worked in the middle ages Hmm

7 for me with the second bit of the X happening when I've finished writing the word because my handwriting is joined up

I said 8, but I’ve just written inextricable to check and I used method 7. I think I write it differently in the middle of a word.

I've just had to write it out a few times and I mostly do 7, not 8. I will and can do 8 sometimes, but 7 is the majority.

7 but I do curves rather than straight lines as I teach maths and students can confused the letter x with a multiplication sign otherwise.

Does nobody do joined up writing any more? 5 or 6 depending on the previous/next letters...
