I’m feeling sad as I’ve read So many posts from people saying they’re disappointed, or DH’s haven’t bothered etc and they’re having a shit time.
Have you received everything you asked for ?

DH has been very good this year and more festive than ever knowing we have a little one the size of a poppy seed inside me currently ! I think that’s helped lol
DH is doing all the cooking as I can’t bare the smell but I’m going to try my best .
I’ve been asking for 6 years for cow girl boots (something i have always wanted), but still awaiting those 🤣 but other than that I’m happy and hope you are too!

I wish DH wouldn't buy me expensive (ish) surprise gifts as I am very fussy and he knows this. Have told him so multiple times. But he keeps trying. It's very sweet of course but I'd rather him not waste money.

I got a lovely handbag, not in a colour I would have chosen or the exact style but I already have a nice one and don't feel the need to have multiples, not least because I always leave my train/ work pass in the other one. But I will use it.

Also a pair of earrings that frankly I don't like. They're from a designer (again, not expensive) that has some lovely designs and I suggested a pair I liked but he ignored this and bought some others. I might see if I can return them! I don't see the point in having them sitting there, worn grudgingly.

It's frustrating.

MrsJonesAndMe · 25/12/2019 13:18

I'm very pleased. Not because I got everything I wanted, but because he got me 2 small thoughtful bits and helped the children to do the same.

Have a lovely Christmas @itsemily

Motoko · 25/12/2019 13:26

We do lists, so I got him the things on his list (he's into retro computers/consoles, and games, so there were some specific items, like a power supply for one of his old computers, that I wouldn't have the foggiest idea about) and he got me things from my list (art supplies). We both also went off piste with a couple of things, just so there was some surprise element!

So, we're both very happy. Grin

I think it's very sad that a lot of women are living with men who don't give a fuck about them. The best gift they can give themselves, is to LTBs.

Biancadelrioisback · 25/12/2019 13:32

No lists, but DH is very good at gift buying. I'm delighted with my stash, and he is with his. He's now cooking Xmas dinner while I drink prosecco and watch Moana

MarianaMoatedGrange · 25/12/2019 13:59

@MrsDilligaf

Oh dear! I'd be gutted Looks like panic buying in Superdrug!

NaviSprite · 25/12/2019 14:06

No gifts for us this year but we’re happy with that 😊 he’s cooking dinner for us which takes a bit off my shoulders and we have some wine for after our twins are in bed for the night, perfectly relaxed Christmas for us (bar the overstimulated twins who are ready for naptime 😂).

CactusSmactus · 25/12/2019 14:07

I didn’t really ask for anything but I have a few gifts from OH and I love them, some practical, some fun and some stuff I want but wouldn’t buy for myself. He’s nailed it but does most years, he knows me better than I do I think! He’s happy with his lot too :) He always makes extra effort as when we got together I was struggling with three kids on my own, always did everything I could to make Christmas as good as possible me for them and never had a gift myself so he sees it as his job to make up for it... we’ve been together ten years though and he still spoils me on Christmas, birthdays and Mother’s Day bit is generally thoughtful all year tbh x

Gertie75 · 25/12/2019 14:09

I'm really pleased, he had a small windfall in November and has bought me some lovely things, since having kids I hardly ever buy anything for myself and if I do it's always the cheapest version so I feel very spoilt today.

Palegreenstars · 25/12/2019 14:11

We did advent charity donations for each other throughout December and it’s been lovely. No stress at all and generally feel all warm and glowy.

isseywith4vampirecats · 25/12/2019 14:11

I had no clue what OH was getting me as I had said dint need or want anything he has bought me a fabulous leather office chair, my old one was about 7 years old and literally gone flat arse numbingly flat so im very happy with what he has got me

MitziK · 25/12/2019 14:32

I'm pretty chuffed - it's the first year he's had decent money coming in and he had 'not known what to get' on a couple of years.

This time, I got fluffy pyjamas and a slightly too large Fossil Watch. It's also a bit blingier than I would have got by choice and the bracelet needs shortening, but it's cost him a fair old bit and I love it for him trying his absolute best to get things I wanted.

He's also bought the DTwatCats a water fountain. Which they are naturally viewing with absolute suspicion, but hopefully, they'll deign to use it when we aren't looking - I'll find out when I go for a long bath, as one of them usually launches herself at the bathroom sink for a drink, as she's too special to ever drink from a bowl unless it's manky green water from the pond.

What did I get him? Posh socks and boxers - and the previously agreed electric shaver in a couple of days. He's very happy, too.

Littlemissdaredevil · 25/12/2019 14:32

A little disappointed.

A pair of sketchers from TK Maxx that are too small and I don’t know if I can return them as there is no tag on them.

Some cheap bubble bath

A soap and glory gift set from boots.

DH was making out before hand that I would be mega pleased. Apparently, he overspent our £50 limit Hmm He got all his female relatives gift sets from boots on 3 for 2. It screams of minimal effort. I had previously sent him a picture of a no7 gift set I wanted. I’m glad I saw it in boots yesterday and bought it for myself!

thelaststraw123 · 25/12/2019 14:50

A 2 week trip to Cyprus, and a pair of earrings I'd been eyeing up in a shop nearby 😍

pinkstripeycat · 25/12/2019 14:53

What gifts? DH always says he didn’t have time. What a whole year? Says the same for my birthday and yet I’m always saying “ooh I’d love this n that” and he has NEVER picked up on it even if I say “I’d like you to get me such and such for Christmas/birthday.” Even my DCs asked their DGM to help them get DH and I something each and yet DH can’t manage it

Fredy45 · 25/12/2019 14:54

Pleased here - he had a list to pick from and got a few things from it including some running trainers which were the things I needed most.

He also got me a tiny silly surprise of a kids book which means nothing to anyone other than us but the title is a common phrase (think like 'silly billy') but was a private joke between us back on our youth. So very sweet and unusually romantic from the old bugger.

Panpastels · 25/12/2019 14:55

We weren't meant to be doing presents but I got a new Fitbit Grin

pinkstripeycat · 25/12/2019 14:56

I think it's very sad that a lot of women are living with men who don't give a fuck about them.

That’s me Hmm

CilantroChili · 25/12/2019 15:04

We are separated but still got each other gifts (decided in advance) and he got me hobby related surprises which I was thrilled with
He got a bottle of his favourite whisky, so he was v happy. The children were delighted with their presents so all good here
Friends coming for dinner which he’s cooking and tbh, it’s being a lovely Christmas so far!

AwdBovril · 25/12/2019 15:05

DH is really good at presents. This year, one of them was gin! Grin
It's ok, I bought him his favourite whisky... possibly getting pished tonight...

TowandaForever · 25/12/2019 15:09

@Lostinthewood

What an amazingly thoughtful present. I’d have cried buckets too!

cookiemon666 · 25/12/2019 15:14

No husband to cock up present buying. My amazing children however spoilt me with fab hand dyed sock yarn, a teddy bear blanket, Harry Potter merch and Harry Potter night shirt. I feel very blessed

FiveNightsAtMummys · 25/12/2019 15:17

I love mine!! Chocolates, pjs, dressing gown, perfumes, candles, book, headphones, fluffy socks, jewellery. I also got an airwalker but got given it early. I've been spoilt and love everything.

BillywigSting · 25/12/2019 15:25

I got a beautiful oak coffee table I've been after for months and a surprise to open (a very cool Dr who picture disc vinyl)

He got some posh whiskey, a jumper from m&s (he normally only wears primark or George from asda), some nice aftershave, a few graphic novels and a funky little memory foam pillow for watching the ipad/tablet on

So we're both very happy this year I think!

woblob · 25/12/2019 15:33

We are both happy. I got something which is really cool and thoughtful and for my hobby (which, as a SAHM I often feel guilty about spending money on), and he got some thoughtful things from the children and me. Perfect!

TroysMammy · 25/12/2019 15:37

I got a storage tower for my craft room and some crafting bits. Perfectly happy with them but gutted I have to wait until tomorrow to use them.
