I’m feeling sad as I’ve read So many posts from people saying they’re disappointed, or DH’s haven’t bothered etc and they’re having a shit time.
Have you received everything you asked for ?

DH has been very good this year and more festive than ever knowing we have a little one the size of a poppy seed inside me currently ! I think that’s helped lol
DH is doing all the cooking as I can’t bare the smell but I’m going to try my best .
I’ve been asking for 6 years for cow girl boots (something i have always wanted), but still awaiting those 🤣 but other than that I’m happy and hope you are too!

Absolutely over the moon with DH’s thoughtful presents. After 15 years of marriage he has learnt to listen to my hints, and I have learnt to hint less subtlely. It took a few years of really bad presents, and a few hidden tears, but I feel like we have got there in the end!

misskatamari · 25/12/2019 12:09

yep, i'm chuffed here. He got me a fire pit, which i've been banging on about wanting for ages. And also a board game, which i had actually been eyeing up and wanting to try, but hadn't mentioned, so I'm over the moon with that :D

VeryMerryChristmas · 25/12/2019 12:09

We only exchange small gifts at Christmas (birthdays are when we splash out). I got some lovely PJs and some nice bubble bath and body lotion, both of which I needed/wanted. So I’m very happy with that.

SlayingDragons · 25/12/2019 12:12

Probably the best year yet - and we’ve been together 20 years so that’s saying something!

DC all opened their gifts (and were suitably delighted) and then DH and I did our stockings which were lovely.

He then opened his new Allbirds which he was thrilled with and I think genuinely surprised because he didn’t think I’d buy him another pair. (Got him the original ones last year and the new Mizzles this year.)

Then I opened my main gift from him and I burst out crying. I couldn’t help it. I think the DC were a little worried but I was just so overwhelmed. I’ve got tickets to an annual event which I have wanted to go to since I was a child and he has already spoken to my mum about looking after the DC for the weekend so we can go and make a full weekend of it. I am so excited I could cry again actually just thinking about it! Roll on May!!!

adaline · 25/12/2019 12:13

Yep, mine did very well :)

I got what I asked for, we had a lovely Christmas walk with the dog, and even though I'm cooking, he's doing all the washing up and cleaning up afterwards which is just fine by me.

But then again he's always been very good with gifts and asks me what I want and gets it. He doesn't like to get it wrong!

3dogs2cats · 25/12/2019 12:13

We had a lovely gift exchange. I got a beautiful book about trees, lots of other books, perfect perfume and some really good clothes. Usually much less than that, but he asked for golf clubs and they are spendy, so guess he wanted to keep it even.

Amanduh · 25/12/2019 12:14

Concert tickets and a hotel stay, with babysitters areanged! Also the makeup palette I was desperate for, chocs; a good book, pj’s (and a dress I chose 😂)
Just lovely.
Happy Christmas all x

Ffsnosexallowed · 25/12/2019 12:14

We decided not to do gifts to each other this year too. We're going to get a new picture instead.

riotlady · 25/12/2019 12:16

I’m very happy! He got me an oodie, hot chocolate bombs, nice chocolates and an ENORMOUS bottle of snow fairy shower gel from Lush, which is my favourite. And some little Harry Potter pins and a cuddly cat in my stocking.

I’m chuffed that he got it all without any help or direction as it’s very “me”. I feel very seen and appreciated

ploughingthrough · 25/12/2019 12:17

DH and I basically both buy each other something we need but haven't got round to getting. So , he got me a lovely ceramic cooking pot that I asked for, and I bought him two nice shirts. We both also chose each other a book. Perfect!
Most of the dosh went on happy kids.

ConstanceL · 25/12/2019 12:19

I am very happy - I got some boots from Celtic and co that I've had my eye on for a coupe of years and two really thoughtful books :)

harriethoyle · 25/12/2019 12:21

Lovely thoughtful presents, the best of which was a photo book of the last fantastic year which made me cry many happy tears 💓

BellsAJingleTheRoastedChestnut · 25/12/2019 12:22

We did charity shop pressies only this year and I am very happy with mine. Secondhand books and a wee necklace. And some money going to charity, so a win win I think!

WhenOneDoorClosesAnotherOpens · 25/12/2019 12:22

DH didn't get me anything. We don't really do presents which feels a bit sad, until I read all the 'I hate my gift' threads on mn and realise no presents is probably a good thing.

amillionyearspregnant · 25/12/2019 12:23

We didn't do presents for one another (don't see the point)

amillionyearspregnant · 25/12/2019 12:23

(Never had in 10 years)

PonderTweek · 25/12/2019 12:24

I was spoilt again this year. My husband is very good at getting presents for people. They're not even particularly expensive but thoughtful which is lovely. Smile

Cherrysoup · 25/12/2019 12:25

Delighted, because we told each other what we wanted, so we’re both happy.

SusieMyerson · 25/12/2019 12:26

Yes because I chose them Smile

PityParty4one · 25/12/2019 12:27

No not happy.

I got him gifts he wanted and 1 surprise.
Thought and abut £100 went it to it.

I have a bottle of slo gin and a shity I fucking hate them Baylis and harding set which I will never use as it's cheap crap which will be donated next week.

Apparently the nicklaus he ordered 4 weeks ago Hmm has not turned up. He has emailed them countless times blah blah blah. Maybe it's in the same place as the bracelet from 2 years ago that never arrived for my bitlrthday.

He could tell I was disappointed and he asked so I said yes I am.
He's upstairs sulking.
I have decided to get over it and enjoy the rest of the day.

starfishmummy · 25/12/2019 12:28

Absolutely. He goes iff my amazon lists but also some surorises as well - and they were great too. Included a big bottle of no alcohol gin just for me. So I have no jdea what it tastes like but at least he remembers that my medication and booze dont mix. (Doesnt stop me being jealous of his bottle of real port but hey ho!! )

starfishmummy · 25/12/2019 12:28

*new medication
My first no alcohol xmas

birdsarecute45 · 25/12/2019 12:29

This year DH sent me a link to something for his forge that he wanted and I sent him a link to cashmere gloves.

We are both very happy today!

Thornhill58 · 25/12/2019 12:32

I'm absolutely thrilled with mine specially because I didn't expect anything at all. I'm so lucky.

I got nothing and he got nothing! We d rather spend the money on the kids, days out in the lead up to xmas and our new year break. I genuinely am not bothered one little bit. My mum got me some bits and DD is 12 and had just started going to town with her friends so she got me a present for the first time ever but even if I had nothing I honestly wouldn’t mind. It’s about the kids and spending time together with no work and school and the number of present dramas I see on here I m glad we opt out!
