I still have wrapping to do!!! Need to clean the house ready for guests tomorrow. Dp is working but want to do something nice with the dc. We may go for a walk and attend a carol service later. Then it'll be hot chocolate and party food this evening.

I really wanted to do something festive and memorable but a bit limited on options locally and still so much practical stuff to do!

OP posts:

It's my daughters 4th birthday so just done present opening, eating breakfast and getting ready to go meet some friends at the playgym soon. Then meet the family for a birthday lunch, home to play with new toys then into Christmas pjs put a Christmas film on order a takeaway then do the Christmas Eve box. Hopefully a relaxing day lol.

Somebodystired · 24/12/2019 08:23

I'm picking up DSS at midday and taking him and DS to see Father Christmas for story time in our local town centre, then will go get MIL and bring her to us. Having our Christmas dinner tonight, the veg is all peeled already so should be easy enough!

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 24/12/2019 08:24

I'm at work until 2:30pm then it will be home for a quick clean and bit of baking with the kids then a domino's tea and christmas films before they go to bed!

DenbyGirl · 24/12/2019 08:25

Going for a walk, eating, prepping a bit for tomorrow's lunch, maybe a game or 2 later.

Weepingwillows12 · 24/12/2019 08:25

I got all the tidying, wrapping etc done yesterday so today is a fun day with the kids. Dh is on a half day. Thinking a nice lunch, walk or bike ride with the kids kids and then boys choice of games or crafts. Dh is out for a few beers so quiet evening before the chaos tomorrow!

doublebarrellednurse · 24/12/2019 08:25

Working.
Then...
Wrapping, waddling around ASDA for last min bits, and working on Christmas surprise for DS who is back on the 28th

CaptainCarp · 24/12/2019 08:25

We were hoping to spend a nice day with DPs children visiting family to get a few presents as we don't have Christmas day this year & then coming back home for a chilled evening before bed.
But apparently, according to DPs Ex, they are "being generous" by offering from 3pm-ish (after DP had asked a couple of times to have them from midday) even if it means they won't get presents from grandad & we only get about 3.5hrs of awake time tomorrow Sad

As a child we'd usually spend the day prepping a few things for lunch the next day. Go for a nice walk (always better if snowy!) & then have a nice afternoon /evening of stories &/or Christmas movies with hot chocolate before an reasonably early night. Xmas Smile

Juliette20 · 24/12/2019 08:26

Wrapping one further present if it arrives today. Making vegetable pie, the stuffing and cranberry sauce ready for tomorrow.

Passmethecrisps · 24/12/2019 08:27

So sorry to hear of those unwell or looking after others who are poorly. I hope you all get well soon.

We are going to see frozen 2 this morning followed by pizza at the local pizzeria.
I have ALL the wrapping to do. Every single thing.
Dh will do some cooking prep.
I will tidy the house like painting the forth rail bridge

hammeringinmyhead · 24/12/2019 08:29

I also fancied a trip to the local massive garden centre with 14 month old DS to see the lights/reindeer/trees and eat cake, but he's still got a lingering runny tum from a bug. I think DH and I will stay local and take him out for a Christmassy coffee. We're on the hunt for croissants for tomorrow's breakfast too.

Tumbleweed101 · 24/12/2019 08:30

Lazy day today. We’re all prepared. Might do some baking with the children and not sure if their dad is popping in later to see them this evening.

DaphneduM · 24/12/2019 08:31

Had an early Christmas dinner with our family yesterday, so clearing up the devastation from that first thing. A bit of last minute present wrapping and then just having a chilled day. Maybe looking through my wardrobe looking for inspiration as to what to wear tomorrow!

UnnecessarilyUpset · 24/12/2019 08:33

Thanks for the thread OP which has me feeling festive!

First a trip to the doctors for DD who I believe has an infection.

Then home for a quick tidy and to make nigella Christmas muffins ready for breakfast tomorrow.

I've prepared a little sack for the DC with pjs and hot chocolate plus some cheap pound land bits such as a Christmas jigsaw and some colourful bath salts. And we've got a little hobby craft Christmas garland to make. So that will keep us occupied.

Probably an early dinner and we're having a small roast, followed by carols early evening.

Home for a Christmas film and then bed for DC. Then I'll need to wrap a few more bits and have a hot chocolate myself but need to hunt down some Bailey's first!

Merry Christmas all!

Anotheruser02 · 24/12/2019 08:34

Ordering pizza at the neighbours for lunch. This evening crib service followed by my friends Christmas eve party.

Stravapalava · 24/12/2019 08:37

PILs are coming for Christmas dinner today as they're going out tomorrow. Got most of it sorted, even though DH said he was going to cook, he's still snoring away.

Got to run the hoover over, wipe surfaces and chuck some bleach down the loo in a bit.

GameSetMatch · 24/12/2019 08:38

Christmas woodland walk, nice relaxed lunch, nap time for kids then to the pub

ACupOfTeaSolvesEverything · 24/12/2019 08:40

Quick clean and tidy for Santa coming, walk the dogs, take some flowers to the family grave then home for lunch. After that Christmas Eve box, board games, making our own pizzas for tea, Christmas movie, a night time drive round to look at Christmas decorations, and finally bed!

TENDTOprocrastinate · 24/12/2019 08:42

DH has taken the kids to work for the annual Xmas eve family fun day. I’m supposed to wrap all the kid’s presents whilst they are out of the house (but I’m currently in bed on mumsnet). They’ll be back at about 1.30pm. Then we are going to our local panto.
I’m planning to watch Home Alone at 5.30pm!

AuditAngel · 24/12/2019 08:44

I have already finished the wrapping this morning, after finally finding the bag of stocking fillers that had eluded me.

Now working from home for the morning (which obviously explains why I am on MN!)

DH wants to pop to Curry’s to buy a new tv for the playroom, last one broke about 15 months ago. I have a parcel being delivered to a local shop that I need to collect and wrap.

This afternoon DD2 is performing in panto, one of about 26 shows she’ll do from end of November through to January.

Missing children’s mass for the first time in about 20 years due to panto, then out for a curry with extended family.

Atilathehunter · 24/12/2019 08:50

Flying home for Christmas. Currently on the way to Heathrow.

RudolphIsMySpiritAnimal · 24/12/2019 08:51

Giving blood this morning, then if I'm back in time we'll go to the children's service at the cathedral. Buffet tea, then sorting presents for the morning once the DC are in bed.

Musicalmistress · 24/12/2019 08:52

Me, OH & DD 13 are on our way to gym for a quick session then we’ll give the house a bit of a tidy round (shouldn’t need much as did a big clean on Friday) and finish prepping food for tomorrow.
DS 24 & DD 22 are home from uni for the hols so we’ll have a nice, easy dinner then watch a movie and have a relaxing evening.
At least that’s the plan...I may be running around at midnight still peeling carrots & having remembered a dozen things I wanted to do!
Just remembered I have a few things to iron for tomorrow lol

Ijustwanttoretire · 24/12/2019 08:54

Working til 4 then have to tidy the house and sort everything for tomorrow as I am doing Xmas dinner for 8.

ParkheadParadise · 24/12/2019 08:55

Having breakfast with Santa at 10am.
Later on will have a chat up with my best friend as we are both getting our nails done at the same time.
Home for a takeaway with DH.
Later on try and get dd to go to sleep so Santa can arrive.
Merry Christmas Everyone 🥂

TheHootiestChristmasOwl · 24/12/2019 08:56

Not much. Kids are watching tv and are suspiciously quiet. I’ve got some cleaning to do.

We’ll wait for DH to get home from work then we’ll watch a film with new PJs and snacks and get a takeaway as a treat. Then when they’re in bed we’ll wrap presents. With wine.
